  1. Then, imo, the steroids are not healing the issue but making the dog's life bearable for the course of medication. (Soz, no pun intended.) Good move by your friend to ask for help.
  2. I recalled you had meet Steve. :) The 30 odd minutes I spent with K9 at the show was the best part of the day. Zig is a fine example of how owner dedication can overcome the issues. It's a credit to you, you took all the steps to do this & Zig is benefiting so much.
  3. yeah, I was there about 1:30pm on the Sunday. I think Roscoe was resting at first. Then you got him up to strut his stuff. There was Roscoe & you AND fun. What more could a dog want. Not remotely phased by being interrupted with a toy either. I have said to Huski before that it is my dream to have Horrible Herbert look into my eyes with the devotion these K9 trained dogs have. They say miracles can happen
  4. I nearly tried to kidnap Roscoe. He was SO cool. Luckily, My ride home called for me to leave. Ah, Beagle & Herbert will vie for tucker then. :D
  5. I agree, although I must admit, Dolly is very cute. It was funny, I had quite alot of people come up to me on the day and ask "is this Neko?" One lady also told me she was walking her (very pretty, little seal) IG in a suburban park in Melb and a couple hurried up to her and asked if it was Neko. She said no, she wished it was. It seems my little girl is famous. Even if the judges dont like her, the public does. Here's the lady's little IG who was mistaken for Neko. Her name if Filly. She's smaller than Neko and very sweet. 5F6A6464dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Would it be mean of me to say that this dog is very pretty, but still not a patch on our gorgeous Neko? T. a wee bit plain but cute
  6. You would have loved K9's stand at the recent I Love Dogs Show in Sydney. One of the dogs was working with their owner. Steve tried to interrupt their focus with the same ball on a rope. No chance until the owner gave the stop command. Then the dog dive-bombed the other ball. Dog was having a total blast in front a whole group of strangers. Huski does not know yet.... I am going to dognap the beagle AND Wiz!!! j/k truly
  7. I swear Jonah smiles with the pleasure of LIFE. Fantastic photos.
  8. I grew up on a farm and the very well fenced house yard certainly saved a lot of headaches, so I second this idea. We had that on my grandparents' properties. In fact I also thought of this thread for the OP to consider. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/259806-my-new-enrichment-garden/page__p__6578527__hl__%2Benrichment+%2Bgarden__fromsearch__1#entry6578527 Like english.ivy said, photos will be graciously received later. :D
  9. Why? You are taking positive steps to have the dogs OK. Bear in mind you are moving so this is a temp measure. Whilst it may be outside of your usual methods, it's needed steps to maintain harmony with neighbours. More power you for trying.
  10. I am truly hoping the replies so far give Annie encouragement with this issues. Such a worry for any owner to have to face. But being given info is so great for decisions needed to be made. DOL-ers help again.
  11. What a dear little man. How lucky his lfe went to have all those years of love and shopping bags to raid. Rest well, little man Alfie.
  12. I wonder given the ages if a very well fenced home paddock area should be considered? Let them have a special area to 'groove'. Also ensure the rest of the property has good fencing. Ticks and snakes are going to be part of your life as the others have said. Get in the habit of checking all dogs daily for ticks. Find out, in advance, what to do about removing a tick. Sadly there are old wives' tales that may be harmful to your dogs. Study up on First Aid before making the move. And please post photos later after the move. :)
  13. But it's working..... The SO is ever so casually trying NOT to get caught looking at the piccies. Now I can leave Facebook wide open. *evil cackle* :)
  14. OMYDog.... To whom may I complain about those squishes on Facebook. Not enough MisterBrown (I joke , I do. )
  15. What????? What????? I am missing stalking elsewhere? To Facebook I go
  16. That was Gabor. And get stung on the nose or (w0rse) inside the mouth.
  17. it is a sad day. But you must take strength from having the courage to give that final ultimate gift of love. It's the very heart of the ethos of loving a dog.
  18. When ZsaZsa, brat Vizsla, could not get birds on the wing in the back yard, she took to catching the skinks. Had several generations of tailess critters. Yet, in the field, ZsaZsa always could retrieve. :)
  19. I can only tell you about a lady I meet two weeks ago with a retired greyhound. Her bitch now aged 9 had two accidents within a 4 month period. They completely stuffed the acls. She found the monies for both surgeries. AND now has a happily recovering gal. She can walk, not allowed to run. But does a nice wander around a local track. And is loving her hydrotherapy. Crate training had already happened and she could manage to keep the bitch quiet. If you have a surgeon you trust, and trust very well, then consider the options. Best wishes for Clancy and you, Annie.
