  1. Seems a bit conspiracy theory focused... Big Pharma etc & it is American, so the suggestion from one poster that ticks can't poison your dog so don't risk poisoning them with the product is not relevant to the paralysis ticks here. I recall similar hysteria when Comfortis came out. There are always claims of toxic reactions to these new products. Of course there will be some dogs who are sensitive to the ingredients. That doesn't mean all dogs will be. I once had a vet rant at me when I tried to buy Proban- claiming it had been stopped from production due to poisoning dogs. Which was not true- the ingredients are no longer available. But then that was likely just a Big Pharma lie I'd been told... I'm thinking this product is a great alternative for the reasons that have been listed before. I'll be looking for it. I'll be watching the product with interest anyway :) And yes, there are always some dogs which will react to certain chemicals. Advantix caused a bad reaction in one of my dogs, so I won't use it.
  2. Thanks for the replies ???? Sounds as though it's worth trying.
  3. Here is a discussion of Nexgard on another forum ... http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/forum.read?mnr=799897-nexgard-afoxolaner-toxicity-veterinarians-and
  4. I've heard about the wonders of green tripe, however, it isn't possible to buy it fresh locally Has anyone tried the freeze dried green tripe, and if so how much and how often should it be fed? :)
  5. Grapes, sultanas and raisins can cause toxicity in dogs. I also read somewhere that mushrooms shouldn't really be fed to dogs either
  6. Posting boxes is always expensive Maybe try a 'Doggy Parcel' instead. That way you can use prepaid postal bags and it may work out cheaper? :) Oh yes, and good on Olly's Box for their response
  7. I reckon a grey would be my next choice. By then I'll be ready for a couch potato kind of friend :)
  8. We regularly travel with our dogs between NSW and QLD ... Never even thought about it But then our dogs are treated and searched for ticks anyway.
  9. The zoom groom brush is designed to be used while the dog is wet i.e when washing? None of my dogs like the slicker brush but don't mind the pin type brushes. My favourite is a metal comb which th dogs don't mind either :)
  10. I've had the idea of pets as therapy in mind for quite a while, however, all the training and courses are city based We are rural and there don't seem to be any country based programs? :)
  11. Really sheena? Makes you wonder how many big hardware stores we need doesn't it?
  12. I wouldn't feel safe leaving an aircon running either. I agree with others about appliances and switch everything off if leaving the house :) Especially at this time of year with storms a regular occurrence, we unplug everything if going out for the day ... The lightning strikes very close to us on a regular basis The dogs can always find a cool spot on the floor somewhere.
  13. I agree with denali - a male would probably be better. As to adopting a rescue, most of them offer a trial period to see if the dog fits in with their new families :)
  14. One of my toy poodles has a luxating patella. I make sure she gets plenty of exercise to keep the muscles and joint as strong as possible. I also began feeding her sasha's blend when the leg was causing her some issues and touch wood ???? she has been good ever since. Only the very occasional popping out.
  15. Glad they smashed a window :) I once helped a policeman get into a car that had a dog locked inside
  16. He looks like a beeootiful dog Stressmagnet
  17. Thanks lululove! That was hilarious!
  18. Sarsaparilla I think it's wonderful that you are prepared to puppy sit for your daughter :) I never have liked the idea of puppies home alone all day ... Good on you
  19. One of my toy poodles had a bad reaction to Advantix I won't even try it on any other dogs again.
