  1. This I know! I've got two avocados im planting in the front yard. Basically I try to split it, bad for pets go in front yard and okay in the backyard. So tomatoes in front yard cause the leaves are bad for bunnies. Helps me to sto accidentally poisoning someone! Thanks everyone! I haven't read everything yet. Really busy at work today
  2. I'm dismantling the grape vine in the backyard before it starts growing leaves/making grapes (and poisoning the dog) and I'm wondering what I could replace it with? I'll probably leave the frame up, so bonus if it's something I can train around the frame. Doesn't necessarily have to be a tree but something that will be around awhile and give us some shade up the back. Does anyone have fruit trees their dogs don't seem to particularly care for? Or yummy suggestions?
  3. My first thought was Boof ;) Mate, battler, ace, bludger, dingo
  4. Oh no they're adorable. Glad to hear they're going to have jobs, they look like trouble! Adorable trouble!
  5. This isn't something I've had to do and might just be and old wives tale. Overheard it at puppy classes while chilling in the vicinity. Slather your arms with butter (yum!) and praise pup for licking. If pup bites, stand up and take you and your delicious arms into another room. Wait about 15 seconds then go back and praise licking. I think the idea is teaching an alternative behaviour?
  6. The drama heightens! I'm on my way home which will include the aldi pit stop. It's reassuring to know we have a backup! EDIT: ....Might take you up on that offer, they only had the $160 ones D: D: which is way different to a nice $20 one!
  7. Ohh thank you! Lemme just check out this city one first (it's usually got stock cause everyone local is a poor student) and I might try south morang tomorrow. If those fail me I'd love to take you up on your offer! And reimburse of course
  8. Maybe if you have free days planned, you could still do a last minute organised "play time" - you could go in and do some quick games or training sessions? I'm glad your housemate is staying too, some dogs don't do well with kennels I'm glad least he's with someone who knows him and who can send you pictures! I hope you have a blast! PS Passed out the dog today, it may not be physically demanding but people-desnsitisation in unfamiliar locations takes a lot out of her. Got a happy set of grins towards the end (or she was just warm, hard to tell. But she sniffed a dude) Dropped near a large man - normally the scariest thing every but we'd been following him around for about 20 mins with his okay (and he made sure to act like she wasn't there, thank you obliging stranger who was buying random pet stuff). We saw one dog but the other person was keeping a distance from us, I think they were working on their own reactivity as well as they were doing similar to us. Rewarding for looking around, sniffing etc. Another blue merle too, collie style.
  9. I would keep them separate or find someone (without a dog) to pet sit her. Flying off the handle like that with minimal/no warning is bad and I dread to think of how it could affect your dog. Especially if you're not there or she goes for a grip D: Thistle had a full blown aggression on her for no (obvious) reason and it's a very slow journey working her through her fear of dogs now. I wouldn't wish that on anyone
  10. I drove to my aldi after reading this but they were all sold out, damnit! Her old foster carer says she loves jumping on them too. Gonna try the city one tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
  11. Oh no, leaving pets is hard. How long are you going for? Can your friend send you daily pictures?
  12. Why would you do that???? Someones dead and you're gonna throw poop at people?! I saw the video, and they're some (handsome looking) pugs who just kind stand around while it happens and , so I imagine they're fine :D At the end it looks like one of the cops/detectives takes their leads. Pugs at 32 seconds onwards
  13. Good luck :) just wanted to add that one of the nicest dogs I've ever met is an entire female Dalmatian. She's a very sweet and obedient dog (that has no doubt had a lot of work put into her). it sound like you're going to be a great owner. She also had very soft ears which are very important :D
  14. The only time she was really worried was in the car park (cause a dog was playing in the boarding kennel runs) and reception (it DOES look an awful lot like a vet...) but once we started walking down and into the parks, it was fun! And perfectly safe from other dogs! I think even if another dog was playing in the other park bit, it'd be minimal fuss because they have hedges growing between the two sets of fences? That's going to be interesting for impulse control later on when I assume usage picks up but glad fence fighting isn't going to be a thing. But yay! somewhere to play off lead games! I want that outdoor pool soooo bad, come on warm weather. Yay happy puppy n_n and the behaviourist does reckon we should have 6 'different' places to train in so i think this can count (so obedience classes, best friends/vet, pet barn, local footie field, kepala' = 1 more place!
  15. Kepala was awesome n_n the staff were pretty nice around accommodating her (she only cowered a LITTLE bit but I came prepared with her fave dog biscuits as people-bribes) and the agility section was way fun! Pics click here And one pooped out puppy:
  16. Yeah I seem to have to evacuate for natural disasters about every 3 years? So thinking I am overdue for one XD the rabbits are easy enough to do but I'm thinking the dog requires a bit more prep... Thank you for these. I'll see about this dried food, as usual food is kinda heavy...
  17. I love that wide circle after picking up the ball! What a waggy fella
  18. oh no they're beginning to look less like sausages and more like dogs!!! i'm going to blatantly pick a favourite. Red 2. You go girl, you sleep and look adorable!
  19. IC is not in PB or PS, I can send you a sample if you like I have boxes of them Oh would that be okay? I'm not going to turn down free samples! She'll eat anything but I want to, y'know, make sure it's not giving her dandruff or the runs or anything. @Taliecat, I was at a Best Friends when I bought the BH But I didn't see it, so maybe it was the cleared out section (i didn't look closely) I'll ask them next time I'm in. Do you know the best friends cost? if my store doesn't i can always ask them to bring it in, the staff/mgr are pretty good at requests.
  20. Thanks Denali - lol yeah I think I mean more of an escape kit than first aid, although first aid would be included I guess. Can't believe I forgot food D: and didn't even think of photocopies of her vet stuff...
  21. I'm trying to set one up, in case of flood, fire and anything where we can't go straight to the vet. I've got one for me and one for the rabbits, but none for dog yet. Hoping I can grab some ideas? I saw the pet store sells basic first aid kits but it was just bandages and the like, which I've already got for our camping trips. There's a spare collar and spare lead and I'll get a muzzle cause I'm assuming if there is a disaster - better safe than sorry if the dog is scared or hurt. Then I'm drawing a blank on what else might be needed? I'll probably store it in the car or near the door. Maybe a towel? Thanks!
  22. Woah you guys weren't joking about price increase! We bought a 20kg BH yesterday (chicken one, usually buy the fish one) and it was )$117! I think it was about $90 last time I bought it back in April eek! I had a walk around but the only 20kg bags cheaper than it were eukanba (spelling??) But BH really agrees with her (had some issues with other foods making her skin flaky and fur spikey) so reluctant to do a switch. My store didn't appear to sell Ivory Coast or id have grabbed a small bag to test :s I'll check out petbarn on Thursday.
