  1. Anyone bought from them before? I ordered a load of stuff and they said it would arrive within 3-4 business days, it should’ve arrived by Wednesday or Thursday last week... still not here and it’s monday. I only just thought to look at reviews of the website and there are about half good half awful..! Hoping it turns up, some people said it hadn’t arrived months later.
  2. If the surgery is necessary (if it’s causing her issues) and you can’t afford it/aren’t willing to pay, perhaps chat with the breeder. They may be able to swap her with another puppy and keep her for themselves & pay for the surgery, or find her another home that can. Best of luck!
  3. Be careful though that you don’t reinforce that “whining = cuddles and love.”
  4. Apple seeds and stone fruit seeds have cyanide in them. Plus the stones will cause a blockage in the gut if ingested...
  5. Thanks RP It sorted itself out and stopped bleeding pretty quick with no issues. He is usually fine with his feet being handled, just squirms/pulls his feet which mades it difficult. He’s getting worse, I’ve been practicing handling his paws & getting used to nail clipping since the day a I took him home though. Scrappi is terrible, I’m actually considering just getting him sedated & nails clipped at the vets. I’ve been trying to condition the clippers to be good and paw handling to be good for years but not much progress. I’ll have him sleeping on me, having a cuddle and paw handling, and getting comfy with nail clippers being around, then can clip one claw. But often if he realises he will squirm like mad and squeal like a pig, even if I haven’t touched the claw! Only able to cut one claw every few months... plus the claws probably further effect his terrible “ballerina feet” that stick out east-west. (But that’s also genetic unfortunately) They’re not awful, they don’t get any longer really, but it would be best to get them done. Sigh.
  6. He just managed to make the quick (the only bit left after the vet cut it off) bleed again. Not sure what to do... vet said bandage had to come off after 2 days because keeping it damp would not let the nerves heal (?) and would cause more pain. But if it’s reopened should I bandage it for the night or so?
  7. Oh! Glad I don’t live there! Thats ridiculous, it’s a dog... Dogs bark... I think it would be fair to report a dog if it barks for more than say 15-20mins straight most days. But barking a little bit every now and then during the day is perfectly reasonable.
  8. Thanks RP. Yeah it seemed to be almost healed within a few days and wasn’t pussy or bleeding etc and was quite clean but he re-cracked it and was bleeding again the day before and that was the soonest appointment they had. The bandages I was doing slipped down, I thought it was my dodgy skills, but the one the vet did slipped down too. So that’s why we had to redo it. The 2nd one had tape and was taped to his fur (he’s a staffy so not too bad) but it still managed to slip down...
  9. It had seemed to heal up, and I was soaking it in saline every day to clean it out, and using some antibacterial ointment, but the other day it started bleeding again. We went to the vet and he said it’s just going to crack further at that stage. So he had to sedate him & clip the whole claw off. Poor little Monty was super groggy and was trying to go back to sleep in really weird places this afternoon. They used vet wrap that said “stud muffin” and another said “had a ruff day” The first bandage lasted all of an hour and we had to duck back in and get her to redo it a bit more heavy duty. So he’s on metacam & antibiotics too so fingers crossed he’s back to normal soon.
  10. @persephone Ohh right I forgot about the high fat content. And yes confit is very nice and juicy (French confit duck is very tasty and indulgent! ) Also the fat forms a sort of seal I’m pretty sure. (Like Pâté, it’s usually topped with melted butter or fat which solidified and forms an airtight seal in the ramiken to stop the pâté from oxidising.)
  11. Plus what good would 40°C do? That’s just like leaving it out in the sun on any regular summer day... Its the perfect temperature for bacteria and microorganisms to thrive as well... especially awful stuff like the bacteria that causes botulism.
  12. I agree, I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to market it as raw... confit duck is not the same as raw duck by any standards. That is just false advertising... As JRG said, raw meat = an animal that has been slaughtered and butchered and possibly minced. Anything further than that is not really raw. Adding salt or acid doesn’t count as raw (like gravalax salmon isn’t raw salmon). Confit isn’t quite raw, it could be classified as “rare” like rare steak perhaps. Dehydration is not raw, yes it retains the nutritional value but it has been altered. You don’t see butchers selling dehydrated meat... I would be still happy to buy your product if it were ADVERTISED that confit is how you sterilise & preserve the food, which I think is fine. Better than blasting it in a furnace. But it is false advertising to label something as something it’s not.
  13. Thanks for replying Agota I’m all for raw food & feed my dogs mostly a balanced raw diet that I prepare (approx 80% meat, 10% bone, 10% organ) and a premium low grain kibble (Black Hawk) and have certainly seen huge improvements when switching them from supermarket food. But your style of marketing this whole “ketogenic” thing portrays it in a suspicious way. Firstly, ketosis is when the body’s metabolism changes to take energy from ketone bodies in the blood rather than blood glucose. I have read about this occurring in humans, cows & sheep, and only being proven beneficial in epileptic humans. I haven’t seen anything about it being proven healthy in dogs, or being able to occur in dogs. Dogs on a regular raw diet already eat mostly meat (protein & fat) depending on the diet... and a fully raw diet doesn’t have any carbs anyway. So I don’t understand why you say “ketogenic” apart from marketing. Especially with references from the Daily Mail & These media outlets in the picture, which are all somewhat unreliable. Perhaps see if you can get reference from a more trusted & reliable source. Find a few vets who would be willing to endorse your company, especially if they have a speciality in nutrition. That would increase reliability dramatically. It just seems a little gimmicky, like in strange and unbalanced human diets like “juice cleanses” and “pH balancing diets that cure cancer” (but really don’t) and some dodgy forms of veganism. Or vegan dog food etc, some people think that’s great, but really it’s only purpose is to appeal to the human, take their money & don’t care that their product killed the dog. The reference to “The Ketogenic Bible” really emphasises this & makes it seem a lot like a gimmicky, unresearched diet fad. Also it would be great if an ingredients list was available. That is the first thing I look at when buying a dog food, and would be the make or break for many dog owners. If the ingredients are appropriate and in a suitable proportion and the nutritional analysis is good then I’d be much more likely to purchase. Personally I never read all the other junk on a dog food ad/flyer (like “our food is so good because it is made with wholesome ingredients from the loving hands of farmers” blah blah it’s all advertising to condition you to like their brand and trust them.)
  14. Looks fun! I’ve seen the pics on Instagram, they’ll really love it in summer!
  15. They look to be decent sized for a little dog (like the pug in the picture) but yeah with bigger dogs it would be a pain. Only cheap crap brands seem to have big tins. We don’t even bother with canned food anymore.
  16. I think the grooming products look good, and their packaging designs and reasoning behind the products is awesome. Just this new food (which seems to be a sub-brand) is a bit confusing, if it’s good it would be amazing. Just not sure about the appropriateness of the diet with the very high fat content and this “ketogenic” ratio. Would love to know more...
  17. Diet seems like it shouldn’t be triggering it, that’s a pretty good diet I think. (That’s what we feed ours, seems to keep itches at bay) Probably allergies to some environmental factor (like grass) from being Spring. Your vet will be able to give you something for that if it’s the case. Our dog used to get spring allergies and vet prescribed Prednisol, which worked a bit the first time, but the second year it made him really glum and stressy and he had withdrawals. So we stopped that but now we don’t seem to need it anymore. I would try the holy coconut oil, it fixes everything that stuff! Our dog had Flea Allergy Dermatitis, the Flea meds weren’t working properly and even though we didn’t see any fleas he’d been bitten a few times and was really allergic to the saliva. We swapped to Advantage, and used coconut oil with a good diet and that worked wonders. We gave 1tsp a day orally, and you can use it softened/melted topically as an ointment too.
  18. How does the raw food work in a can? Would it still require refrigeration? Also, what are the ingredients in the product? Will that be released soon?
  19. Yeah it’s very weird... before I thought the company was legitimate (they already sell grooming supplies) but now I’m a bit skeptical... Better not buy any
  20. And the two “countdowns” are on different numbers. Also “ketogenic bible” just screams dodgy dieting fad to me...
  21. Hmm, very strange. They have a mailing list and I put mine down in curiosity but now I’m a bit concerned.
  22. https://shoonatural.com/pages/rocketo-raw-ketogenic-dog-food/?utm_source=FB+LEAD+AD&utm_medium=RETARGETING+%2F+TRAFFIC I just saw an ad saying Shoo is releasing a new product; a tinned raw food by the looks of it. I’m assuming it doesn’t need to be refrigerated so that’s really appealing... plus I’m all for raw food! I wouldn’t buy it often as it seems a bit on the higher priced side, but it might be handy to keep for emergencies/road trips etc. (ETA: plus their packaging is really really nice maybe it’s just a team of designers) BUT upon further reading they keep talking about “ketogenic” and toxins and cancer free and ketones and that kind of jazz.... seems gimmicky and a bit unresearched (despite their repeated mentions of all their research...) So I was wondering what you all thought of it, I’m not sure if I should buy into the hype..!
