  1. Not sure. I haven’t gone much further into it but at a rough guess I think they possibly could. From memory I think you can message them any questions. It was a while ago that I was looking into.
  2. I’ve thought about this too and one company that I found ( American though) is mypetprints.co They sound ok. You upload a photo of your pet, choose the size of decal, can add their name too, if you like and can also choose between black/ white or colour.
  3. When we decided it was Zenas time I rang our vet and arranged the appointment with them and then I rang the cremation company and told them what time she was to be done and that she’d be ready to be picked up from the vets any time after that. I had already spoken to them some time beforehand and organised her urn and plaque. They were just waiting then for me to give them the go ahead. They rang a few hours after saying that she had been picked up and was safely in their hands. I presume the vets do have a freezer or fridge. I never asked. Our first dog was euthanised in the afternoon and I actually rang the cremation company when we got home and they picked him up not long after. I wasn’t that organised as he was our first pet to pass. They were very helpful. I then used them again 9 years later for Zena. They really were very kind and had treated me very well. Our vet was happy for us to choose as I’m sure most would be.
  4. I’ve had just 2 schnauzers euthanised and then cremated. Both are in urns sitting in a bookshelf in our lounge room where I can see them and think about the good times with them. I admit at first it was difficult seeing them like that but I now like to know they are still close to me. And it wasn’t an option for us to do anything different as they still deserve to be in our company. It’s where we like them to be. I used a cremation company, ( one I researched and chose myself) the same one for both. They did a brilliant job. They rang me once they had picked them up from the vet and brought them home a few days later. Always willing to talk and were just so professional and lovely in such a sad time. Individual cremation too. Wouldn’t want anything else. The cost wasn’t too bad. Just can’t remember how much now though. Less than $500 though. At the time of euthanasia it was all done very peaceful. Neither of mine were sedated first. We just held them on the table, on blankets, and talked to them the whole time. The vet administered the injection and both went within seconds. Quietly with no fuss. Obviously beforehand we were told of the procedure and that they may make little movements, although they have passed. That’s quite normal. We got to spend time as much time alone with them as we wanted. We certainly weren’t rushed out or made to feel like we had to leave. We also paid and did any paperwork first so we could just leave. It’s certainly a hard, sad time but it is wise to be prepared. Take care. Xx
  5. All are so sweet but I do particularly like the looks of Kammi and Clives face is just so sweet and innocent.
  6. I’m really sad to hear your news. Wish it had been a foreign body or something fixable. 10 is too young. I’ve lost a dog (schnauzer) at 10 and 9 and it worries me a lot. Molly is 9 and a half and I watch her closely for any “signs”. Just continue having good times with your boy and keep him happy. My thoughts are with you.
  7. Sounds like a great way to start the day Persephone. It’d be nice to be somewhere the four leggeds can run, sniff and do as they please with hardly a care in the world. I’m not a great fan of suburbia. It’s just where we have to be though.
  8. Our good luck ran out this last week. Molly started itching again. Just back from the vets now. Another cytopoint injection and fingers crossed that’s it until Oct/Nov We got 18 weeks out of the last one and she usuallly doesn’t scratch in the cooler months.
  9. I’m feeling super lucky ( touch wood) Molly is still not itching and it’s almost 3 months since her injection. Hopefully we’ll get to the cooler months with no issues. I find she doesn’t scratch during the winter months.
  10. Oh how sad. Tallie looks very beautiful. Such a special puss, she sounds like she was great company. Loss is always hard. Take care. My thoughts are with you. sweet Tallie
  11. Really sorry to hear your sad news. Your little oldies always sound like they get the very best of care from you and it’s hard to lose one but four in twelve months is devastating. I really do feel for you. Take care. My thoughts are with you and Sooty also.
  12. Hey everyone, We have just bought a tandem kayak which we will be taking on our camping holidays in future. We always camp beside waterways and would love to explore them more closely. Obviously Molly travels with us and will be kayaking with us. I’m looking at buying a life jacket for her. I’ve had a quick look online ( in lockdown so can’t visit shops) Prices seem to vary a lot so I was just wondering if anyone had ever bought and used one, and what I should take into consideration when I do eventually buy one.
  13. Sorry to hear of your sad news. My thoughts are with you
  14. Sorry to hear the sad news. 18 is a good age.
  15. As we all know with some it’s very difficult to know when the time is right. Those who have followed Pepsi s story know that sometimes it can come as a total shock as to how bad they are. The vet assured us Pepsi only had 1 - 2 days left and yet we really didn’t think she was that bad. With my dogs though it became obvious that the time had come. I’d like to think we chose the right moment. Animals can’t talk so like Pepsi we don’t really know what amount of pain they are in. And I guess we just watch them closely and try to get the decision as right as we can.
  16. Thinking of Sooty and you also. Hope she can make it through this.
  17. Three strikes, definitely out !! Feel for the dog as once again it shows irresponsible owners. Getting out once and killing a dog is bad enough but still able to escape its yard twice more is just unforgivable.
  18. Boronia, Because we can’t quite figure out what Molly is allergic to she has been given the cytopoint injection. She had her first back in March ( I think) and then sailed through winter just fine. I honestly think her itchiness is seasonal as for the last 3 years almost to the exact week she has started itching. This happens usually October/ November and continues through the summer. I took her to the vets and she received the cytopoint injection and figured I’d be back to the vets a month later. So far she has done really well and it will be 6 weeks tomorrow since having it. I know it is expensive but to have a dog that doesn’t scratch all the time and acts normal is enough for me to do it. I think I paid $115. A bit of a difference from where you go. I can understand why it’s out of the question. At the moment I feel super lucky Molly is getting more time out of it.
  19. I’ve done some research about the product and read a lot of reviews etc. It does sound ok but like sheena I don’t want to give Molly something every day. I was thinking of something that could be given only when necessary. I will talk with the vet. Best to get their advice I think
  20. Thanks very much Boronia. I will definitely be looking into this. I don’t like her feeling anxious. She was never worried about storms before. Just something as she’s got older. She has never liked being left at home but this also changed when Zena passed and is maybe getting a little worse now. But it’s not all the time either. Sometimes she is just very quiet. Gotta love them and their quirky behaviours. But thanks anyway.
  21. Boronia, would this product work for my Molly. I will do my research but I was wondering as she has become a bit “noisy and anxious” when we go out for any length of time. She also gets nervous during a storm but that we can handle as she’s not too bad, just wants to be real close then.
  22. IMHO I feel most people out walking their dogs, whether on leash or not, seem to think their dogs won’t hurt a fly. I now look at every dog, small or big, as having the potential to cause arguments. After all they are just animals with animal instincts.
  23. Hi, I really feel for you. My little girl Molly was attacked earlier this year. An 8 kg mini schnauzer in the jaws of a 30 - 40 kg ridgeback. It had escaped its yard and it was solely intent on having Molly. 2 other woman came to our aid thankfully. It was the most terrifying moment of my life. Molly was in a bad way and nearly didn’t make it. By some miracle and with the excellent help of our vets she is here with us and totally back to her old self. We don’t walk in any parks or side streets now. We just stick to the main road. Molly is perfectly fine but I admit I’m very nervous when I see others walking towards us. I’m no help to you in what you can use as a deterrent. I just wanted to say I totally understand how you feel. Too many irresponsible dog owners out there. Take care and stay safe.
