  1. Sas - I don't want to take this thread off topic, so would you mind visiting my thread asking about KMate Gazebo's (in "off-topic"), if you have any feed-back. Asking because of what you said above.
  2. Wow Haven! What a well written and informative response! Thanks for taking the time.
  3. Hey Denis ..... good vids to show people that when we use the e-collar in training, it is not about "shock" or extreme levels of correction as many of those who are opposed to this form of training/training equipment often hypothesise in their arguments.
  4. I'd suggest there's a bit of a clue here (refer highlighted words). A move of home and/or a change within the pack - and your dog has gone through both in recent times, can upset the heirarchy balance, so I'd be checking your relationship with your dog to ensure that balance is as best as it can be. You should be the one to protect her and she needs to know that she can trust you to do that. The other thing to consider is the possibility of a medical/neurological issue and it might be worth visiting the Vet for a check-up, if you haven't already done so recently. Beyond the above, Oceanaussi, there's not much more that can be suggested in cases of aggression, other than to seek assistance from a trainer/behaviourist qualified/experienced in the area of "canine aggression". So much is lost in the absence of observation opportunity. Given the above and that your new pup could suffer life lasting issues in the event of a traumatic experience as the result of aggression from Hera, I'd definitely make seeing a trainer/behaviourist a priority.
  5. In the stay work, how close do they have the dogs to each other? BC - thanks for the info regarding recall finish in the CCD.
  6. Hi Jan & Mike. I presume the PM was to K9 Force, because I didn't receive it.
  7. What if the dog CAN do a "return to heel" ? Is he NOT allowed to in CCD? Or is it an option?
  8. Noticed people are still emailing through for tickets . Just to let you know ..... if there is anyone who emails me tomorrow for tickets, that's ok but I won't be able to respond until later in the day, so please don't think I'm ignoring you.
  9. Ooooh ...... charming. Sounds such a great place to eat at! 2tollers - have responded to your email. Cheers! Erny
  10. LOL .... pfffft! to my googling efforts !!! I rang KCC Park as well, but unfortunately they don't allow camping "yet".
  11. Have you got it yet, SB? If not, I'm wondering if your "SPAM" filter is set too high for it?
  12. Maybe you should hold a "googling workshop" for the likes of me.
  13. ShellyBeggs - you were on the email list, so I don't know what happened. But have responded to your email. You should have it by now. Just need to let me know what 'ticket' you want. Hope you are ok after your collision with the poor roo. Can cause a lot of damage ......
  14. Thank you Ruffles. I googled but didn't come up with anything as concise as that list. Must have not put in the right words for the search.
  15. I've done a bit more searching for you wagalot ..... but no luck so far (apart from what I posted above). I actually put this to the "General Forum" a few weeks ago to see if anyone else knew of dog friendly places (let alone being allowed in the rooms) and not one response. I think they are few and far between, unfortunately. Have you tried googling "caravan parks" and perhaps doing a bit of a ring around to see if any one of them would allow?
  16. For those who have a long drive and would prefer to stay down for the weekend, I've sourced out the following "dog friendly" Motel which is close by (10 minute drive) to the Event Venue : The Fourth Furlong Motel 1449 South Gippsland Highway Cranbourne 3977 Telephone : (03) 5996 7500 They don't allow dogs in the rooms, but they inform me they have about 5 dog-runs/pens as well as a few "trailer parks" (if anyone was bringing one down). You'll need to make your own enquiries to ensure that the facilities are suitable for you and your dog and for further information, if you need a place to stay. Link to their web-site is below. I'm informed they are having web-site difficulties which are being worked on today, but it seems to be working at the moment. Fourth Furlong Motel
  17. No Rocco1 .... it is not a silly reason. But it is only ONE of the benefits of using a "Pressure Point Collar" (PPCollar) (aka "pinch" collar). Other benefits include, as Kavik as posted, less correction required to receive desired response. This is good for the handler, but also (and importantly) good for the dog. You don't get the affect to muscle or skeletal structure as you do with other available training tools presently on the market. The design of the links also minimises/avoids stress/pressure to the dog's throat/trachea/windpipe. Dog's responses are normally quicker and stress to the dog is reduced - not only for the reasons aforementioned, but also because learning can be faster. Like any tool, it should always be used with knowledge and consideration to correct timing of application as well as to any behaviour modification method you are using. I'm in Melbourne (so not allowed to use the PPCollar as regulation has unfortunately prohibited this ..... although refer THIS LINK and THIS LINK if you want to read further information in that regard. Not sure of trainer/s in Queensland who can help you but I'm sure others here will be able to guide you.
  18. Sorry everyone - the delay is my fault. Had to take my father to an eye specialist appointment this morning. Apart from massive amounts of time waiting around, one test lead to another and another ....... the result being that I didn't get back home until only a couple of hours ago, when I envisaged being back by mid-day. A full day gone! I have everything organised so that Steve and I can synchronise our email "send" buttons  . I expect this will happen now tomorrow. My apologies again, but please stand-by.
  19. Can't say I've ever tried for training the staffy 'frog' drop. But I wonder if it could be assumed by giving a forward hand signal (hand signal as though to down but bring hand a bit forward as it gets closer to the ground .... where staffy's nose follows it - if that makes sense?) instead of a straight down signal. Do you get my drift? Kind of like a combo drop with a minute 'crawl' forward ... ETA: That's of course, if you really do want the 'frog' drop to be THE drop.
  20. .... I think that's a Ridgy thing. My girl (across the bridge now) always sat on her tail too. I notice many Ridgies do that too. Here's a piccy of Kal in her typical "drop" Wouldn't really matter how long the 'stay' was for. If she was in a commanded position, it was always square. She'd even do the square drop of her own choice, unless she was settling down for a snooze or relax on any one of her dozen mats around the house.
  21. I was referring to the part where you said to never have the dog drop from a sit because it can lead to them making mistakes in trialling. Wasn't picking - and hope my post didn't sound like it. Horses for courses and I know that triallers put in a massive effort to gain the passes they aspire to achieve. But if a dog does drop from a sit when it oughtn't it is a "training" issue and is something that needs to be proofed. IMO, it shouldn't be a matter of 'avoiding' it for fear that the dog will make it a habit. But that is only my opinion ..... as a non-trialling trainer.
