I am so sorry for your loss Greytmate. What a heartrenching decision, one I am not looking forward to making when the time comes. You did the right thing and at least Goldie is not in pain any more. I am also sorry for those of you who have had to make that decision and those going through it now. I cried reading all your stories and my heart goes out to you. RIP Goldie.

What's In Those Fly-trap Things From Bunnings?
White Shepherd mom replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
no they are not toxic to animals, yes they do work. Casper's got hold of it in the past and eaten the contents...boy did he pong to hell and back!!! Now I have it hanging at the bottom end of the pool fence under a climber with the lid taped down as the wind has occasionally ripped it off. -
Same here. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Please have a safe break, be careful on the roads, don't eat too much (yeah right!) and have a super duper New Year.

dear Pheebs, I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful girl. Don't ever feel that you let her down, you gave her a wonderful life and you gave her her wings without letting her suffer. She loved you as much as you loved her and I am sure she is looking down on you with love and gratitude. Big hugs. RIP Tess. P.S. The first photo you posted is gorgeous. I hope you have it framed.

Looking For An Awesome Wa Vet!
White Shepherd mom replied to Lobostar's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Love my vet too, the Ocean Reef Veterinary Clinic in Heathridge. I go to Clive who has taken care of Casper a good few times (spleen removal, pancreatitis and ongoing care for his epilepsy). The vets nurses are also wonderful. They are on Carriddean (sp?) Rd. Their phone number 08 9401 0663 if you want to make an appointment. -

Kangaroo Meat For Dogs (and Cats)
White Shepherd mom replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
Casper has had chronic pancreatitis too and is not allowed fatty food. I make them a roo stew which I mix with their low fat kibble and they also love it. Does anyone know whether roo tails are much fattier than the meat? I cannot feed him any other bones which he used to love so if roo bones are not too fatty I can get some. -
I am mopping the tears that are falling. It was a beautiful tribute for a beautiful boy. What a loved life he had, and a little sister to share it with too. My heart breaks for you T&S, and for Tara and your OH too. Rest in Peace Sam, watch over your family.

Grief When One Passes Away
White Shepherd mom replied to Tara and Sam's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am so sorry for your loss T&S. I have no advice but with my two dogs being 9 years old, I am starting to fret about what will happen when one goes too. Big hugs to you and Tara and get well wishes for your mum. -
Purina's "information" On Feeding Bones To Dogs
White Shepherd mom replied to Whippetsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
We almost lost Casper to pancreatitis after he ate a big marrow bone. My vet told me he discourages people from feeding their dogs bones because of all the problems he's had to treat that were caused by bones. There are risks with everything, no matter how much we try to do right by them. Non animal bones I guess could be the rawhide treats in the shape of bones? -
Just Came Back From The Vet And Terribly Sad
White Shepherd mom replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
Moselle, I am so sorry for your loss. What a horrible thing to happen. The only positive is that Sophie enjoyed a good, pain free life right to the end. It's the most any of us can ask for for our beloved animals. My thoughts are with you. Rest in Peace beautiful Sophie. -
I'm already crying and you haven't said anything yet. Take your time. RIP Coco.

What Happens To Your Pets When You Die
White Shepherd mom replied to vnv's topic in General Dog Discussion
No! Send them to us! Put us in your will we will make sure they are O.K. and we will follow your wishes even without money. MDBA PACERS. You are angels with a special place in heaven. I felt a lump in my throat at your statement. -
Casper usually does this but he does it in places where he doesn't know if you're going left, right or straight. Just puts the brakes on and turns his head to look at me! One night OH went to get their food bowls to feed them, next thing I hear is this big thud and clanging of bowls...I went out to find him lifting himself off the ground, dog bowls on the ground, dogs wagging tails! Casper walked in front of him and stopped and OH went right over him! It was hard not to laugh... I just think it's sweet that they always want to be so close to us, despite the risk to life and limb!

Good morning Jed, good morning waiting room! Another beautiful day in Perth too, a little chilly but the sun is shining and the day is calm. It's supposed to be raining but there's hardly a cloud in the sky. I hope you are feeling stronger today Jed. I also hope that you don't have to stay in the hospital much longer. Take care of yourself.

Boarding Kennels In Perth Wa
White Shepherd mom replied to Marmite's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi Marmite, I take my dogs to the Canine Country Club WA and I think they're great. It's a mother & daughter team and they really love the dogs. Casper gets his meds twice a day and they don't charge extra like some others. They have no problem feeding the food I take either. My dogs are always well cared for there. They're at 290 Neaves Road, Mariginiup, their number is 9306 1999 and their website is www.caninecountryclubwa.com I hope that helps. Good luck with your foster! -
At What Age Is A Dog Considered Senior?
White Shepherd mom replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
both my dogs are 8.5 yo. Casper (41kg) has epilepsy and has been on drugs since the age of 3. At 8 he had his spleen removed and is now on a special diet after a severe case of pancreatitis. That said, I don't think he's ever been in better shape. We run 6km a couple of days a week and both dogs do better than we do. Being white, you wouldn't notice his hair greying but Bella who's always had a little bit of white now has a little more. Apart from that, you wouldn't know her age! I've always been worried about HD and arthritis, especially since they are both from dubious parentage. I've been giving them glucosamine/fish oil tablets in their supper for years now. -
Good morning Jed. Good morning everyone. I hope you are feeling a little better today Jed. It's good to have you among us again. I know your heart is breaking for the angels that you lost. I just hope the day the pain starts to ease is not too far away. My heart aches for you. I will look out for Channel 9 at 6pm tonight. I hope it will be the same program in Perth.

she was beautiful and you have so much to be proud of. She was as blessed to be yours as you were to have her. I don't know whether we ever meet up again in the after life but it's the memories we make here that we cling to. We are all crying with you even though some of us cannot fully comprehend what you have lost. Thank you for sharing with us Jed.

Hi Jed Welcome back to DOL-land, even if you're just reading !! (By the time you get through all these pages, you should be able to join in too!) I am so glad you are feeling stronger and I just want to say to you how sorry I am for the loss of your precious animals and everything else you lost that awful night. I am just grateful that you made it out and your daughter is ok and you have your other beautiful animals waiting for you to get back to them. God bless you Jed. Thank you for the update Toohey. You know how to keep the masses coming back for more!

Good morning Jed, good morning all. A chilly day in Perth today. Did I mention it's a holiday  ?? Anyone want some poached eggs on toast? There's always plenty to go around in this waiting room! There's even extra for the pooches if they want! I hope you are feeling much better today Jed. We are still thinking of you, still lighting candles, still stuffing our faces while waiting for updates!
