http://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/the-...6-1226031739162 Disabled Wisconsin woman fined for walking dog while in car AN elderly disabled woman in Wisconsin was ticketed for allowing her dog to walk free without a leash while she drove behind in a car, The Capital Times reported yesterday. Police said the 70-year-old woman's neighbours had called in about the unleashed dog wreaking havoc in Madison, Wisconsin. "At the time of the complaints, the officer tried, without success, to contact the pet owner," police spokesman Joel DeSpain told the paper. "Now, after seeing the little white dog strolling down East Mifflin with a car following close behind, it rang a bell and he had the chance to talk to her." As the officer approached the vehicle, the dog fell back and jumped into the front seat on his owner's lap, the report said. The woman was slapped with a $114 fine for "permitting a dog to run at large" and given a stern warning not to repeat the mistake again.

Is It Ok To Give Zytec For Allergies
White Shepherd mom replied to chook007's topic in General Dog Discussion
Casper also gets 1/2 Zyrtec or Xergic when he has the itchies and it works wonders for him. If I find he is still scratching by night time, I give another 1/2 in his dinner. He is 35kg. Does anyone know, is it ok to give on an empty stomach? I only give with breakfast or dinner. Good luck, I hope it helps your dog. -

My heart is breaking for you and there are tears in my eyes. 16 years was a wonderful innings for this beautiful boy. I am so sorry for your loss and the hole he has left behind. I hope it is not too long before the sadness makes way for happy memories. RIP Kuga, you were much loved. -
I'm sorry Deek, he was a beautiful boy and had a good long life. RIP Max.

I have tears in my eyes at your loss. It always affects me when it's a sheppie that goes, especially when he's the same age as mine. I'm sorry Bartok. He sounds like a loved boy. They really do take a hold of your heart. Big hugs.
-
very sorry for your double loss Bartok. That's awful. I'm glad you found a caring company to help. Thank you for the recommendation. Did you cremate your dogs? If so, do you keep the ashes or scatter them?

10 Week Old Gsd Puppy Having Seizures
White Shepherd mom replied to White Shepherd mom's topic in General Dog Discussion
apparently he was seizure free yesterday and my friend has to take a stool sample to the vet, that's all the info I got. I still don't know whether blood tests were done or whether the breeder has been contacted. I hope to find out a little more soon. I will definitely pass on the information posted here, who would have thought that doing the right thing by flea treating and vaccinating your pup could cause damage? In the cases where the cause was flea treatment and/or vaccines, did the puppies recover ok? Thanks for all your replies, I'll update you as soon as I know more. I just hope the little guy will be ok. -
10 Week Old Gsd Puppy Having Seizures
White Shepherd mom replied to White Shepherd mom's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thank you for all your replies. I have asked her whether the vet has done blood tests and whether she has contacted the breeder, I'm waiting for her reply which I'll probably get tomorrow. In the meanwhile if you have any other suggestions, please let me know. -
hi guys, I am posting for a friend of mine who two weeks ago brought home an adorable 8 week old GSD puppy. He has started having seizures and today had his 6th. She has already taken him to the vet twice, the vet suggested possible poisoning as the puppy is too young to be epileptic. The vet has also referred her to a neurosurgeon. Has anyone had similar experiences? Do you have any ideas as to what might be causing his seizures and what avenues my friend should be exploring? This lady is one of the best pet owners I know. I know she has already fallen in love with this bundle of fluff so I hope she can get to the bottom of this quickly. TIA

hey oceangirl, so glad you used Clive and like him. He really makes me feel confident that my kids are in good hands...a bit of a worry that he remembers Casper's name, we obviously spend too much time and money there. Will have to talk to him about a discount for getting him more clientele! :D tell us who you end up using english.ivy. Good luck with Badger, I hope he stays healthy!

I use the Ocean Reef Vet on Carridean Str in Heathridge. They are very good and have been treating my animals for almost 5 years now. I usually go to Clive Lamond. He knows Casper very well, what with his epilepsy, removed spleen and pancreatitis! Give him a try.

what a lovely, talented, thoughtful friend you have. That is a beautiful picture of Zeus.

Hi KL, I don't have any answers for you but I wanted to wish you lots of luck with Chloe and I hope she can stick around as long as possible. I too have a dog who holds my heart but who's body is starting to let him down. I know both my dogs are the same age but Bella is healthy as an ox! big hugs to you and Chloe

I used one once and I wasn't too impressed. Wish I could remember the name, don't want to guess in case I get it wrong and bad mouth the wrong company! She had me filling buckets of hot water for her tank, then I held the dogs (it was their first hydrobath and they were trying to get out!) and then she left them wet so I had to towel dry them anyway. Quite frankly she saved me no time and I had to pay her for it. I was looking at the City Farmers' website a minute ago and they advertise mobile dog washes. Also, Better Pets and Gardens (Osborne Park) and PetStock (Joondalup) have in-store DIY hydrobaths. I have not used them though. Will be watching this topic with interest!

Scientific Survey On Dog Personality
White Shepherd mom replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
done for both dogs. Good luck with it. -
I have previously found Casper asleep, out in the open with thunder, lighting and rain going all around him. At that exact time, Bella was in the bathtub. At least if a bomb goes off at the same time, she will be safe :D I give her Rescue Remedy and she gets over it a little quicker than without. Besides that, we just leave her to it. I would be concerned if she got destructive, not sure what we would do then.

Dieting Doggy...harder Than It Sounds..
White Shepherd mom replied to redangel's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
what brand of dry food do you feed her? One cup of one brand is not the same as a cup of another brand. My vet told me to put Bella on a diet. He said to cut out all carbs and bulk her up with grated carrot and other veg. For breakfast she gets 1/2 cup premium Light kibble and for supper I give her 1 grated carrot, 3/4 cup kibble and 1 spoonful Barf patty (or Light tin food). She also gets one biscuit around 5pm and an after dinner treat. She has lost 7kgs in the past year and at 33kgs bounces around like a puppy. And yes, she too would eat like there is no tomorrow if she could. You just have to practice tough love! Good luck -
I'm so sorry your dog is seizing lilipily, it's a horrible thing to watch, you feel so helpless. Did your vet mention putting her on any meds for epilepsy while he does his tests?

Adopted Akita - Won't Sleep In Her Bed
White Shepherd mom replied to Lena.'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Casper only lies in his bed long enough for me to give him his bed-time treat. By the time I have locked the back door, he is asleep on the paving out in the open. I think he prefers it in summer. In winter he will usually move to the door mat at the back door but in summer he prefers the open air. Don't panic about your dog. She will sleep wherever she is comfortable. If she gets cold or the ground gets too hard she will use her bed or find another comfy spot. She is gorgeous by the way. Congratulations. -
welcome to DOL AusStar. Your dogs sound wonderful. I hope to see you around the forums, there's so much to learn here!
