  1. Thanks for that Kirov. Have you used her before? I will be passing on her information to my colleague. I sure hope Kathy can help him and his dogs.
  2. I am so sorry about Bracken. Hopefully the fact that you have not heard anything yet is because your vet is being very thorough and giving your boy the best care possible. I am hoping for the best outcome for you and Bracken. Hang in there.
  3. Hi all Perthites, A colleague has just asked me if I could recommend a dog behaviourist as his female is having major fights with his male. This has been going on for a couple of months now and he obviously wants to sort it out. I suggested that until he does, he keeps the dogs separated and gets the female vet checked in case there's something wrong with her. She's picking all the fights and the male is becoming a nervous wreck. He says this only happens at home, they get on well when they're out on walks together. It sounds like a severe dominance issue to me. As my dogs are angels ;) I don't know of any behaviourists to recommend. TIA
  4. Where in Perth are you? I tried a mobile dog wash once as well. I spent about 10 minutes lugging buckets of warm water to the van and another 10 minutes drying the dog at the end. NEVER again. If you are in the Northern Suburbs, the Ocean Reef vet has a groomer who operates there. I knew someone whose Cavalier went often so I reckon they must have been good as their owner really loves that dog! There seems to be a groomer at the Mosman Park vet too.
  5. Was the GSD on a leash? If it was, I would have thought it had the right to defend itself?
  6. Noishe, I am so sorry for your sudden loss of Tye. He looked like such a beautiful boy and you did the best for him. Hugs being sent your way.
  7. Happy belated Birthday puppies...'cos you're always puppies to us ;) Congrats Kirislin, they are obviously very well loved!
  8. +1 We found that very distressing. me too. I did not enjoy that part. Also, when she was pointing to the cups with the food underneath to test whether a dog understands our hand signals, were the dogs following her instruction or their nose? Surely a dog can find the food under the cup without a human pointing to it?
  9. You know it was a decision you had to make, it doesn't make your grief any less. I'm sorry for your loss gillybob.
  10. beautiful photos, your dogs look like they had a wonderful time! Can I ask though, how do you teach hind leg awareness?
  11. Do you think Grumpy might benefit from some sessions on an underwater treadmill? They are supposedly very good for dogs with joint problems, arthritis, etc. My doggy physio also uses light laser therapy on Casper (I'm pretty sure that's what she said it was. I have the info at home somewhere!)
  12. I am so sorry you lost Elly. I hope you and the rest of your family can draw comfort from each other and the happy memories you have of your girl. Rest in Peace Elly.
  13. thank you for all your birthday wishes. We had a nice long walk last night and after dinner he got his favourite treat and lots of cuddles. Yes, he is a handsome boy, even when the tv is on I watch him instead! Here's hoping I can post again this time next year for his 11th
  14. hehehe...I'm beaming from all your wonderful comments! Thank you guys, it means a lot! The boy will be getting extra cuddles today...whether he likes it or not!
  15. God's speed over the bridge Dillon. Watch over your humans until they join you.
  16. that sounds so right! Thanks for the laugh!
  17. Happy 10th birthday my big boy !!!! You hold my heart in all 4 of your big paws, I love you more than you will ever know! You were just a little pup when we brought you home from Renbury at 4 months and life has never been the same! You became epileptic at 3, had your spleen removed because of a lump at 8, pancreatitis a few months later and now you have degenerative myelopathy. I treasure each day that you are still with us. your first day with us: a month ago:
  18. wow, 14 years is a grand age. Good for you for not giving up on Toby when you wanted to. I bet the love and memories were worth all the earlier frustrations. Rest in Peace sweet Toby. Those you left behind will not forget you. I am very sorry for your loss Horus.
  19. $43 sounds a bit hefty for "cheap" insurance. What are you after? Are you after an insurance that pays all annualy vet bills (eg vaccinations?) or a plan for emergencies? If you were to consider a higher excess, your monthly premium would be a lot lower. I think I pay around $27 for Bella as I have her on $500 excess but I pay a fair bit more for Casper as he's on $250 excess. You could opt for the higher excess (ie lower premium) but put $10 a month aside in a seperate account (or a money tin which you hide away). I'm with Pet Insurance Australia.
  20. Awww, 9 years old, doesn't the time fly? He looks happy and healthy Huski. Happy Birthday Micha May you have many more!
  21. such beautiful, gentle dogs amidst all the horror. Thank you for posting that. It's good to be reminded of what's good in this world.
  22. I haven't seen it yet. I didn't know about the need for tissues, thanks for the warning, will definitely wait for it on DVD now! My faves are Bolt (watched it a dozen times in 4 days with my 3y/o niece!) and Lady and the Tramp.
  23. Sorry Mason, can't help you there. I've used the Canine Country Club a couple of times and have been very happy with them. It's a mother/daughter team and they really seem to love the dogs...of course, what's not to love about my dogs ;)
  24. this is very sad to hear dogslife, it's just not fair. I really hope your Dane pulls through so that you can catch your breath and re-find your family balance. Hugs to you, your daughter and your dogs.
