  1. Mine are all cremated and they will come with me when I go. I completely understand about the challenges of grieving. Many have passed away in my arms and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Her soul will always be with you, no matter what you do with her earthly remains.
  2. Makes sense that they would check out applicants from top to bottom. It's a LOT of money.
  3. Applications open soon. https://www.olg.nsw.gov.au/councils/responsible-pet-ownership/companion-animal-welfare-grants/
  4. That very testing stage. Even small breeds go through it. I understand how you can feel overwhelmed with a med size working breed mix. Do you have decent (aka properly staffed and supervised) day care facility nearby? A couple of days a week rumbling with similar size pups can really wear them out if you can't be home and would at least give you a break.
  5. @Concernedparticipant do you have an update?

For just worming, if you're not using the monthly combination products that cover almost everything. I use Drontal Allwormer Chews, it's every 3 months. (For babies, Drontal Puppy Suspension per recommended worming schedule).
  7. This is the 3rd time she has posted complaining.
  8. COVID has forever changed the way a lot of pounds and shelters were running with open doors and wandering members of the public. Appointments have become normal, and actually a more efficient way of managing staff duties such as feeding, cleaning pens and shuffling dogs into dry ones or grass runs.
  9. Skimming the internet, I don't know why they use the term 'designer breed' unless it means something different over there. They name purebred dogs & cats of exaggerated features.
  10. I can't believe I know this @Rebanne but a Nerd is a little lolly. Small compared to others, but way too big for bone chip size. I'd be picking them out too.
  11. I'm not a vet so you'll need to call and check that you can use Chlorsig eye ointment and have a dry eye test - which is very quick and simple. Dry eye can have a conjunctivitis type look with excess thick discharge.
  12. Sorry Luvapoo. What worry. Such awful little parasites. A few animals like cats and rabbits carry ear mites so exposure just needs to be hanging out in an infected sleeping spot or exploring in shrubs or direct contact. When an infected animal is sleeping, mites make their way out of the ears and along the body often reaching the bedding/grasses so I heard it's just like bird mites. Not actual direct contact but also mites leaving the host in search of a new one. (Happy to be corrected). It's been years since I've seen ear mites, I remember doing the drops and the cleaning. With bravecto on top I guess it will be a lot easier.
  13. Thank you T there are rescues I can think of off the top of my head that really do have their act together. I'd guess none would call themselves 'perfect', once you think you are, you stop learning how to improve IMHO. (You'd remember. There was a book about foster care/rescue written by a Doler. + A written course run by an alternative registry which I didn't do for some reason.)
  14. Parvo and leptospirosis seem to go through peaks. Especially this time of year. Rain, warmth, flies, rats. Best call is your vet to see if it's in your area right now or if they recommend waiting until the 2nd vacc. Popping in the car for a drive is a good idea too. There are raised seats that help them see out the windows. And training them to step into a harness is handy for the future. I don't walk pups for the same distance as mature dogs who have finished growing.
  15. Ah yes. An interim carer. Handed dogs in the days PTS was on the dot. No backup, no quarantine. Often just nice women who couldn't say no. The one we found was also BYB amongst all the rest of the pound dogs.
  16. https://au.news.yahoo.com/council-to-shut-down-hoarder-animal-shelter-after-complaints-040026765.html Latest news. Sorry, it's Yahoo again.

  18. We have a mission statement that's been in place for years. One extremely relevant one recently is.... So yes, we operate 'no-kill' in it's original form, that is misinterpreted now all over the place as never PTS even a broken dog.
  19. I'm sad that we can't self regulate. So another party with no actual on-the-ground experience needs to step in. Mistakes will be made and it's going to be a rocky journey but needs to happen.
  20. Perhaps it's in the planning? I've been wondering also ...... it would be a massive undertaking to clean her out in one go, and finding shelter room for all of them while assessed would be a logistical task. Then there's the possibility of charges and animals would need to be held unless surrendered - is my understanding of the process at least. So sad. Those poor animals.
  21. Posting pics anywhere can get them used by scammers unfortunately. I suggest putting a watermark so you can still show him off.
  22. Is this 'the goat video'? I honestly can't bring myself to watch but heard about it.
