Front dew claws? Never seen injury except years ago my Pointer snagged hers a couple of times. I doubt you'll find a vet that would do preventative removal, but that's no reason you should be condescended to. I've only ever seen problems when it's a tiny flappy rear dew claw hanging on by a bit of skin.

VONDECKELMAN KENNELS - looking for reviews??
_PL_ replied to Dobe11's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is a FB group. Just kindly ask if there are Vondeckelman doggies there and you should get a nice response from people ready to share their doggies. https://www.facebook.com/groups/362398241455678 -
Need advice about degenerative myelopathy and limited mobility
_PL_ replied to poundhound's topic in Aged Dog Care
No experience with that condition so I can't help. But restless activity at night in a potential dementia dog is like 'Sundowners' in humans. Wheelchair; I got mine from eBay just using the measurements. Quality and fit was still there. It was a 4WD so her front legs didn't have to work harder and I added padding where needed. To get her started I'd sit at the other side of the kitchen (nice smooth surface) with a treat or she wouldn't move. Relevant issues are that it came from China, arrived very quickly but I'm not sure if you need one immediately or not. And she was only young, a senior - especially with beginning of dementia - could likely be bewildered by the setup and just stand there looking at you like you've lost it completely. (I can't find the seller I brought it from sorry. ) If you're looking for over and above your regular vet, google 'geriatric dog vet'. You'll find services like this https://sydneymobilevet.com.au/geriatric-veterinarian/ -

You can't be all that far from me! If I see one more Frenchie walked in 35 degree heat this year I'm going to lose it. ___ Anyway, we have great owners too for sure. There's a few local chi that get walked nearby me that don't even look at you or dogs, let alone bark. My own experience with some is that they can develop resource guarding of their owners and require effort from puppyhood to gently expose them to all sorts of things without bombarding them or forcing them. Rescue chi have often bounced from home to pound to foster care, unpacking their baggage can take patience but it's worth it. I do like them as a breed, very unique. Funny and quirky. However, they also need you to stick up for their personal space ... because everyone wants to pat a cute tiny dog - so I guess in my ramblings I refer to all toy breeds suggested - and the looming sight of a giant human coming down on them can make them very stressed and panicky. Adding to the unfair reputation of Toys biting and barking. Just IMHO. -
Is Eureka any good? Like Ziwipeak

Oh I hadn't heard of that one! Thank you -
I didn't know that! Thank you

I keep an emergency tin of Di-Vetelact in the cupboard for the rare occasion when people find a kitten that needs temp care (while things are organised with vet, pound and rescue safety-net). But if they're on goat milk already, to avoid a potential tummy upset I'd keep some in the freezer just in case. Shouldn't affect the quality of the milk.

What an amazing story!

I think it's a fillet not an ear, although it's ear shaped. . Don't worry.

I would contact a few of the pug rescues, many need corrective surgery of some sort. @~Anne~ do you have any leads?
-
Did you talk to AWLQ about taking her back? You may have signed something that says you need to contact them if you can't keep her.

That was hair-raising! Anyone involved could have been smooshed.

I'd try getting your vet to call an immunologist and have them review his file. It could be related to an auto-immune disease similar to the one in humans that leaves them paralysed from the neck down. (Paralysis in cats; happened to mine out of nowhere. Completely incapacitated. He had every test possible/showed nothing and recovered at the vet on a drip. We didn't go the specialist route because it never happened again). But that's leaping way ahead. What testing have you had done so far? It's baby steps but don't be discouraged.

The breed I've been stalking have not dropped price because there aren't many breeders. Sigh ... one day. LOL The scammers during covid selling sought after breeds made a pretty penny selling on trust. People were desperate and moved on if ANKC breeders didn't have a puppy they wanted so up popped these imaginary litters.

26 overdue dogs (med-lge) sitting in Blacktown Pound today. 27 still doing their time waiting for reclaim.
-
I'd be crying. Rehoming is a big leap of trust.
-
Maybe incorrectly but I am guessing with the setup of 4000 dogs, they would be a wholesaler for lab customers regardless of end use.
-
Medical testing, I get it. It still breaks my heart knowing what happens. But mascara and lipstick ingredients, seriously?! Why are we still doing this?!

Something to do with the HSUS. Which I'm not quite following how they work but do partnership with other rescues. They have their critics from memory, likely comes from within the welfare sector per usual.

I've avoided the tabloid articles on what happened but it sounds beyond imagining just reading the bland facts... Awful.

It's all over the news, but this is the official govt statement. https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-secures-surrender-over-4000-beagles-virginia-breeder-dogs-research

A sebaceous cyst will burst because of pressure. But often grow back because the whole content (like a cheesy stuff) hasn't come out. I'm not sure lipoma re-absorb in some way but Anne's probably right. They may have had an extra layer of chubbiness.

Oh I've never noticed that photo before. Gorgeous dogs!
