    Puppy Diahorea

A few questions. Did you get her from a registered breeder a pet shop or a pound? How old is she? Has she had at least her first immunisation? Is she just having loose stools or is she vomiting as well? Need to know answers to all this to help you, the reason being is that Parvo starts off with diahorea proceeds to vomiting and very lethargic. Another couple of reasons are worms, or she has been fed too much for her system to cope with and also change of diet. Get back to us with answers to these questions and there are plenty of us on here who maybe able to point you in the right direction. If the diahorea continues I would be getting her to a vet, and it is very important with this sympton to keep up the fluids as they dehydrate very quickly and that is very serious, if she will not lap get a syringe and syringe water into her mouth, open the flew cheek area, forms like a pouch, and syringe water in very slowly about 20ml every hour.
  12. I am so pleased to hear that Ollie is back home where he belongs, vets are great but home and with you is where he would be most happy. and my very positive thoughts are flying your way.

  19. I am with you, stainless steel feeding bowls and as soon as they have finished their meal, like five seconds after it has been put down , I brink them all in doors and I boil the kettle and each one has a swill of boiling water, and then washed with sudsy water. Call me fussy but that is how it is done here.
  20. ;) Beautiful sweet girl, you deserved much much more, after being abused as a breeding machine, you are an angel and you now have your wings so fly to the and know what peace and kindness is. My heart breaks for you beautiful Hope.

    Mid Wife.

 Congratulations on a job well done. what a terrific size litter. The bitch will need to be fed three times a day and make sure that she drinks plenty of fluid to keep up the milk flow for such a big brood, I would be getting some Sandoz liquid calcium and dose her according to the directions, so that she has a decent calcium supply as well. Now for the other question on when to wean, I start that at 3 1/2 -4 weeks, and usually let the dam out for most of the day by the time they are five weeks old, and they become dependant on me for their food, I feed breakfast, lunch and dinner to the pups with drinks of lactose free milk in between feeds, and they have yoghurt with bush honey in it for supper which contains abc in it. Best of luck, hope that all goes well, keep them babies warm as they can get chilled very quickly as they do not control their body temperature until they are over two weeks of age, and chilled pups die very quickly. I use an infra red lamp to keep pups and room at a good temperature.
  23. A little known fact, but grapes are toxic to dogs as well, so no more grapes. Glad to hear that she has recovered.
  24. As a breeder of many years, none of my puppies are sold to a household that both people work, there must be someone home full time. I would be concerned leaving an 8 week old puppy outside to fend for itself all day, even if the neighbour is coming over to check on the baby, for that is what it is, you would not leave a human baby outside unattended, anything could happen during the time the neighbour is not there, like bee and insect stings that can cause death. Sorry but I think your sister should wait until she is home fulltime before contemplating a puppy. Simple as that.
  25. I am so sorry to hear of your loss of dear sweet baby Loch, at such a young age, ;) and to you all and dear sweet Loch the angels came too soon for all of us to take you to the run free baby.
