  1. Tokkie I am glad that I have been of some help to you in regard to a vet close by, Woodcroft is only about ten minutes by car from Aberfoyle Park, you will find them very caring. I totally agree with those that have praised Chris Girling at Lewiston, I know him well as a repro vet just the best in Australia, he has collected fom my boys and did all paper work to send the frozen semen to the UK, with much success, from the first litter born over there three, two bitches and a dog, bitches were placed 1st and 2nd at Crufts last year and the boy 3rd. I will be going out there early next year, hopefully, for a bitch that I bred to be inseminated with frozen semen that I have imported from the UK, his success rate I believe is very high. So fingers crossed all goes well. Chris is just the best.
  2. Hi, I reckon I have the two best vets in Adelaide, husband wife team, just adore every animal that go to their clinic, very gentle loving and kind to both pet and human and the girls they have working for them have certainly been hand picked for their caring as well. The clinic is at Aberfoyle Park Hub shopping centre, the clinic is named Hub Veterinary clinic and the phone number is 8370 5155, if it is a big procedure they will organise a payment regime, but do expect to be paid on the day if it is for a health check etc., also they do not push for yearly vaccinations, they send you a reminder when it is due but if you do not want to go ahead with boosters they do not pester you. I have been going to them since they set up their clinic nearly ten years ago and with almost 40 years in the pedigree dog world I must say that they are definitely the very best thorough vets I have ever encountered.
  3. Such a handsome boy, I am so sorry for your loss, it is always hard to come to terms that our beautiful fur friends are not here for long enough, but better they have been than not at all. Fly free sweet boy to the :D
  4. Congratulations on your new special baby arriving home tomorrow night. You certainly have got everything in place for her arrival. If you have a pen put that up with her crate and bedding into it place several layers of newspaper all over the pen floor and leave the crate door open, a puppy will never foul where they sleep and if she has this option to be able to come and go as she pleases to relieve herself on the paper it will make for a happier baby. May I suggest, I do this whenever any of my babies leave home, ask her breeder for a blanket that her Mother and litter mates plus herself have used, as do not forget her new home is a big strange world to her and she will be missing her mates, and leave a radio on on a talkback station at night, she will then not feel as if she is by herself, even a light or lamp on not necessarily in the room that you are settling her down in, until she gets used to her new home. Best of luck, BTW have a big play with her and tire her out, and should she cry during the night do not go down to her or she will then know that she only has to make a noise and she will have you down there with her, get some ear plugs and tell the neighbours to get some too, you will find that this will only last a couple of nights, especially if she does not have you running to her.
  5. Sorry to hear of your girl Jessie, be assured that you did the right thing by her, the quality of life would not have been so good. Remember the good days, the memories are so special. Fly with the angels Jessie and go to a place where you will be young and healthy again.

  9. Hi there, Welcome to the world of the Frenchie. Yes there are Frenchies who do not have the breathing problems that your girl has. She may have an elongated soft palate which can cause breathing problems another is that she has pinched nostrils, that is the opening of the nostrils is very very narrow and not wide open, thirdly she could be short in neck as well and this does also compromise breathing. A pied should be pure white with no ticking, I know of some that do chalk their pieds, but this is usually just a few tick marks not one that has a lot of ticking they should not be shown at all. What was the reason for the breeder to be selling her at this age? You are doing the right thing by taking her for a check up at the vet tomorrow, so you should get some answers to your questions from them. But remember it is not the normal thing for a well put together Frenchie to have breathing problems. Judges do take particular note of the jawline, a Frenchie should have six straight across between the canines on the bottom jaw, if a judge has two dogs that look of equal quality one has a correct mouth and the other with the teeth crooked they will always opt for the one with the correct jaw and teeth. They take everything into consideration, so if your girl is ticked and has crooked teeth in my opinion she is not show quality. Sorry if she was mine I would not be showing her I would be having her desexed and sell her as a pet.
  10. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, the way you speak it sounds as if another Doler has lost a beautiful soul too young. Fly with the angels Phoebe and watch over your family down here.
  11. You can get Peptosyl from the vet and give three times a day. Do not feed him for 24 hours, allowing the bowel to settle as feeding him only irritates the situation, just be sure that he is taking in plenty of fluids and if you have them some electrolytes added to the water, prevents dehydration. After 24 hours feed him boiled chicken and in the broth from the cooking of the chicken place some rice in it and boil until it has absorbed the liquid, then the rice is really starchy, this certainly clogs up the problem, keep him on this until the motions are normal.

  15. With her being over excersised and all the running and jumping around at her playdates, she could have put her back out as well, this can cause an unusual movement, I would definitely have a trip to the vet and Xrays done on back and hips. I agree with other posters puppy kibble too much protein, get her onto a quality adult kibble.
  16. So sorry to hear of your loss and such a beautiful boy, fly free BeeJay to the ;)

Taffy, so sorry to hear about your beautiful dog. Fly to the Lucky Lou
  19. The Frenchie is born with natural short tails, that is why I have dogs kept for breeding xrayed for spine and hips when they go for their 12 month booster, just a matter of routine for me, so all my breeding stock are tested, should there even be a minor problem as long as it is not in the lumbar area I have them desexed and sold as pets, anything more drastic which could prove to be a problem I would have them PTS, but thankfully that has never had to happen. I also believe in the Beef liver water and the goat milk recipe, just excellent for new borns while the Dams milk is coming down, am doing that right now, as today my girl Macey has delivered three gorgeous brindle girls.
