  1. Mnay breeders may already have up to 5 or 6 (or more) dogs of their own, many rescuers wouldn't be willing to have that many at once, it's not always cut and dried
  2. Also what cavNrott said, if he must stay in the laundry could you get him a heated bed mat?
  3. Teach him to sleep in a crate, more enclosed and cosy if you cover the crate and he won't be able to damage your door.
  4. Also found the iFetch, same thing but half the price
  5. Oh wow they seriously exist!!!! Hook me up, I'm there! Anyone recommend the cheapest place to buy one?
  6. Maybe just a list of breed clubs for each state might be easier, most club secretaries will be more than happy to forward on an email to whoever the most relevant breed rescue person is at that time if they can. As always I'll coordinate basset hounds but the last two have been sorted privately before rescue intervention was required as is often the case with appealing uncommon breeds.
  7. I wish that car tube had a divider in the middle so you could seperate two dogs, a zip out divider would be brilliant!
  8. That's quite reasonable Huski, i was thinking more than that.
  9. Thanks for all the thoughts guys. I'm not in a rush as it will be mainly used by our next dog and as he isn't even conceived yet and obviously will be restricted in the type and amount of exercise he can do while growing so it will be a while before it's in use as intended, but I did think I might just quietly start saving up. :p Being a basset hound would they need the 2 metre belt length do you think, since there stride is quite short? Given we don't have to worry about long fur, etc are there any other considerations if we were to look at a decent quality human one? (Ulterior motive that maybe I could train on it too LOL)
  10. Thanks silentchild, I'll look it up :) I'm so busy at the moment and despite my best efforts I'm not sure how I'll go with fitting in life in general, my own emergency services training. keeping up the house, dog shows and trials, training that must be done outdoors plus endurance training especially in winter. Thinking if i can make one of those things able to be done while I fold washing that might be helpful
  11. Wondering whether anyone has one/uses one and can tell me what brand you have and what you think of it. I'm considering purchasing one down the track to help continue exercise and endurance training for my dogs during the dead of winter when it can sometimes be harder to get out due to bad weather and shorter days.
  12. I'd have her on a lead and actually be teaching her appropriate behaviour and lock her away when the kids just aren't the right type for training a dog around. Apart from that it's really not worth having a silly big puppy around intimidated children, the dog doesn't understand the cues they give off and it only serves to make the child even more intimidated around dogs.
  13. Thanks RP, might be some running around but I;ll sort it. I'll be a dogsNSW member eventually but I've been holding off since I don't need membership yet and it's an extra expense obviously. I'll find out the ins and outs and go from there I guess. Best of luck Pawsaroundoz
  14. If you live in a state that is different to where the litter was registered would you still ring the state the puppies were originally registered in? I'll ring them myself in a few days I think but I'm hoping they won't require to be a member of dogsvic in order to reissue the pedigree given I'm now in NSW...
  15. Everything cavNrott said plus I would recommend she buys the dog a little cage muzzle to wear when outside of the house. Being a small dog won't necessarily stop her from getting a menacing or dangerous dog order placed on her. My daughter received a really nasty bite to the face very close to her eyes from a maltese when she was a toddler(wasn't doing anything to the dog, it was on a lead with a stranger at the doorway to a shop and lunged out and bit her without warning)so being little doesn't mean he can't do serious damage.
  16. I'm watching t find out as I've lost Josie's too LOL
  17. What Gallomph said. I don't think you can expect someone's circumstances to always allow them to take on any dog needing help although I think it would depend on the breed somewhat. In my breed they rarely end up in rescue and if they do there are more than enough willing to help, in a more numerous breed like staffies for example things would be harder.
  18. If you pull a fur and it's tipped with black it's sable, but if it's sort a muddy version of the base colour rather than layered it's smut. That's my understanding anyway
  19. I would start with the Tracking Club of Victoria :) http://www.trackingclubvic.org.au/
  20. Much what the airport sniffer dogs do Whitka :) So instead of following a trail they are given options of where hidden items might be and they indicate a find, things of that nature...
  21. Considering the roasting I got from a local vet who tried to make me feel a few inches tall over choosing not to fully vaccinate my dog annually I'm not surprised.
  22. If you wish to reimport the dog back in to the country, you need to have proof that the dog was tested immune to rabies before leaving country of origin as that serves to reduce likelihood of long quarantine on return trip. Also someone exporting a dog would want to be sure their dog was covered as soon as they stepped off the plane since there would be no import quarantine over there.
