  1. If the bubble pack is below 250grams and less then 10mm thick it will class as a letter , hence it still has to fit through the slot , if it doesn't fit it becomes a parcel. my bet is that some of the clickers slipped down into the bag and bulged the bag out , which could be why they got stuck in the sorting machine and it "became" a parcel, I had a lengthy chat with my new post office lady last week when posting similar size bags and that's what she told me , so I was going by that idea. I've used 3 different PO's in my area and each one will charge me different , which is why I now check online at Australia Posts website before taking parcels down to be posted.
  2. Wonder if AP got it right ? The weight was well under for $1 postage , but I wonder if the postbag was thicker then the slot it has to pass through ? The measuring thingy they use use at the post office to see if a letter or parcel passes through. I also post heaps for ebay customers , and have been told that if the parcel doesn't fit through the slot , it will get caught in the sorting machine , then they are manually removed and additional postage charges added if required etc. I changed post offices , the one I use now doesn't rip me off and she goes out of her way to get me the best charges
  3. I've got this image of a cat "Pezz" and the dog waiting ....... (Pezz is a lolly dispenser with usually some form of cartoon or animal head ) I was chatting to DH about this topic last night , and he mentioned that in some countries a dogs sole purpose it to clean up human waste and rubbish , that's all they would eat , scavanging anything they can find . I wonder how dietry deficiencies fit in there ? I can only imagine the short lifespan and spread if disease and bugs ewww , but I guess that's what goes on. Our pooches are luckily :D
  4. no worries Erny , I thought what you wrote was very helpfull and interesting
  5. Hedds as another ACD owner .........yep... cat poo is a treat , my dog watches where the cat goes in the backyard and if I don't remove it she darn well remembers where the cat took of to and rushes to eat the poo . Gross , and there's nothing lacking in my dogs diet either , they just "LIKE" it and ooops she's been sprung , not supposed to be on the chair
  6. Just today I purchased a pack of rawhide strips about 10cm long and 2.5 cm wide , chicken flavoured from Coles, they also have beef ones. now I always watch my dog when she has any kind of treat or even when she eats her dinner and just as well that I did . because she was quite hungry she quickly chewed on her rawhide strip, swallowing the last piece rather then chewing it all up , she was making a weezing sound so I turned and saw her gagging. I was about to shove a few fingers down her throat to retrieve it when she coughed it up. It was all sticky and to big to swallow but before I got the chance to pick it up she wolfed it down again , this time swallowing it ok. The pack is in the bin , not taking the risk again I also checked out the rawhide sticks , they seems more chewable but they were made in China and I was worried about their contents , I think I'll stick to making doggy biscuits for treats.
  7. My dog eats her vegies and fruit when I make dinner  It's become a game of hers to come over to the fridge and see what I'm getting out for dinner from the vegie drawer , I then give her whatever is in there , beens , carrot , small piece of Cauliflower , celery etc. for her main meal I add leftover vegies from our dinner . She liked shaved pumpkin , I was peeling the skin off and sliced a few bits of pumpkin using a potato peeler and she gobbled them , so maybe pumpkin for your dog , snowpeas are nice , sweet potato (shaved is easier )
  8. KitKat Mine should be there but I can't check our PO BOX till next Tuesday , I'll PM you as soon as I pick them up  trying very hard not to drive a 90 kilometre round trip to get them NOW but petrol is so expensive
  9. Bargain !! Look forward to the two I ordered , any colour is ok will you PM the bank info ? I'll deposit asap
  10. KitKat seriously , you should keep some for Ebay , they should do well , I haven't seen any on there for ages
  11. Yep thats great thanks KitKat she's very food driven so it should be good to use ! I'll have 2 then thank you
  12. Can clickers be used for a dog (12months) that has been voice/whistle/hand action trained ? Could I use it as an additional tool/replacement or use it only for new tricks etc ? Can someone with a minute explain in short how to use one ? Bella is pretty smart and has no problems learning and obeying but I could use some help with a more positive recall I'd be in for 2 in that case , oh and when you click them are they loud ? Ta ;)
  13. Trying to get my composure back and sooooooo glad I'd finished my coffee already :D amen to that , I will never have a male dog again , (only kidding :D )
  14. Your kidding.........right ? I'll never eat that carp again
  15. Yes, the pumpkin pie filling comes in a can. Be sure to get the type that isn't already spiced up with nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. Should be in the baking section or canned veggies/fruits aisle. Good luck! It might come in a can but you'll be hard pressed to find it in our supermarkets , I had a friend in the US send me a can to make a Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving , and it was oh soooooo yummy ! Just cooked pumpkin will do , better still if you know somewhere to get cheap whole pumpkins as they store well in a dark place . mmmmmmm, feel like pumpkin scones now
  16. I crack two eggs into a jar (jam jar) , add 3/4 milk , shake it up and that's what both the cat and dog share once a week. sometimes I open a couple of cod liver oil capsules and add that as well , or a little olive oil.
  17. Nope my Bella baby never smells I've always had male animals and found they all smell , cats included I am so thrilled that my Bella (F) never smells , in fact she smells 'nice' no doggie breath , no puppy smell . she swims almost daily in the ocean and I just hose her down , then dry her off with a towel. If I wash her I use a non soap dog shampoo , most times I just wipe her head with a flannel so we get a clean "kissable" head
  18. Bump Ohh , Ive been meaning to ask the same question as well ! our ACD is also loosing hair , a few weeks ago I could pull out handfulls , never mind the amount of fur I was sweeping up all day DH kept telling me not to worry and that she's going into her adult coat , she's still fairly bare on the underside and insides of her legs but it looks like she's getting a new coat and going darker as well . so do pups at about 9-11 months change their coat ? Or is this seasonal ?
  19. One of our dogs used to do this and have red inflamed webbing between his toes , often during summer. vet suggested using Iodine liquid , dabbed on the areas and it worked a treat , vet was quite sure is was a tinea/allergy type of reaction. Iodine is very hard to come by now , but try your vet . Its a red liquid so be sure to apply it outdoors and let it dry , or it can stain carpets etc. also , Apple Cider Vinegar is great too, cheap and antiseptic , I use it myself both on heat rashes (diluted in warm water , so soothing ) and dab it on insect bites and drink it with my orange juice for gout and godknows what else is wrong with me
  20. Oh goodness , this is just terrible , my thoughts are with you Marilyn
  21. I've learned my lesson as well , left it too late to order Heartguard Plus online and cat's worming tablets and went to the vet this morning , not much change out $58 , whereas online I could have got the lot for at least $20 less. Not forgetting it would have cost nearly $8 in fuel as well , and then I stopped at Coles and bought more groceries......... That'll teach me yep Priceless pets is the one , and they will let you deposit the $ direct in their account via Internet Banking , if your not keen on using Credit cards online
  22. I have no expert advice , just my 2 cents worth Keeping him on the leash for now while she keeps training up to prevent this behaviour would be best, can you imaging being the person being confronted by him on their walks ? It would scare me , and if the person shows they are scared , the dog will recognise this signal and that could lead to repeat behaviour , cause/effect type etc. Perhaps distracting him (while on the lead) as people aproach so he concentrates on her not them, I used treats as my dog just wanted to say hello to everyone and get over-exited (This is the opposite to your friends dogs behaviour but I can't see why it wouldn't work the same) She now ignores people/dogs until they address her , then she still goes nuts Hello to Bella is "wow , pat me , play with me" were actually trying to desensitise her to the word Hello by doing it over and over at home , at first we'd get the over exited response , now she kind of looks at us as if to say "I am sooooo over that word" Perhaps keeping him on the lead while bush walking might just be the only option if training doesn't help , better safe then sorry
  23. Hi Gibbo, ahhh the joys of no longer sleeping in my dog at 9 months still wakes at 6am, on the dot, she then goes to the window to "check" if the suns up and then comes and wakes me As pups get older they will be able to hold on for longer , just make sure your pup gets his last wees in just before you go to bed , in the end you'll find they sleep in longer . We take turns at home so one of us at least gets to sleep in a few mornings , you might want to discuss this with your fiance as there is nothing worse then not getting enough sleep while he snores on Edited , grrr I should wake up before posting , I see he has access to the backyard so it's just a case of I'm up , why aren't you. I'd go along with sidoney's advice
  24. Ticks can be removed by tweezers, even if part of it's head is left behind , it's not going to live. Have removed many a tick this way , just get it right close to the skin and push downwards and towards you, it will come out in one piece.
  25. I hope he is ok you might need two people , I wonder if it will work if one of you puts a wooden spoon handle across the back of his mouth , so he cant close it , so you can have a look ? Have a pair of tweezers handy in case, don't know wether that will work but it's worth a try.
