  1. Thanks Anglesun It was a great weekend and two very tired sheppies last night, didn't hear much from them at all We are already practising our TIGHT 360 & 270 turns too and planning how to incorprate what you have taught us to my Wed night obedience class Hope to see you down here judging once this becomes "offical"
  2. A friend of mine had a Portugese Water Dog. The following year from her first royal experience she had a t-shirt designed with.............. IT'S NOT A POODLE screen printed onto the front & back
  3. Don't you just love "experts" When I used to show Cardi corgis, I had one Joe Public ask me "where did I get my mini Gsds from?"
  4. A girlfriend passed this on to me the other day, I thought I would share it with you all Not just a brag, not just a stepping stone to a higher title, not just an adjunct to competitive scores..... A title is a tribute to the dog that bears it, a way to honour the dog, an ultimate memorial. It will remain in the records and in the memory for about as long as anything in the world can remain. Though the dog itself doesn't know or care that it's achievements have been noted, a title says many things in the world of humans where such things count. A title says your dog was intelligent, adaptable & good natured. It says your dog loved you enough to do the things that pleased you, however crazy they may have seemed. In addition, a title says that you loved your dog, that you loved to spend time with your dog because it was a good dog and that you believed in your dog enough to give it yet another chance when it failed and in the end your faith was justified........... A title proves that your dog inspired you to that special relationship, enjoyed by so few, that in a world of disposable creatures, this dog with a title was greatly loved & loved greatly in return. When that dear short life is over, the title remains as a memorial of the finest kind, the best you can give to a deserving friend. Volumes of praise in one small set of intials before or after the name.......A CH obedience, agility etc title is nothing less than true love and respect, given and recorded permanently. Authour unknown
  5. Fan bloody tastic Your first jumping trial??????? Enjoy the moment and hopefully the next Q's will follow just as quickly for you
  6. Hi all, thought I would "report in" with the results of our very first UD trial today...................... Well, the am trial left me with a nice row of zeros to start with but finished well with food refusal. The pm trial, Seven was more confident & it showed with her only missing one article on the scent work & missing the bar on her directed jumping. So I was pretty pleased with our start :D Plus the feedback from other UD competitor & judge, is that when Seven does put it all together, she will be a high scorer, as she is very priscise & neat :D Looking forward to Hobart's back to backs in two weekends time
  7. Thank you very much BS for the lovely comments for my girls & the club :D You should be very proud of your lovely boy.........lots of motivation on his behalf It's a shame you won't be trialling at Hobart's back to back in a couple of w/ends time :D Hope to see you both soon and keep up the good work
  8. Well done Traditionally the "Balmead" is wet..........was it???? btw which club won the sheild this year???
  9. "What's a wok?" A wok is something you throw at a wabbit, when your wifle doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, but Elfin started it Seriously though, our dogs LOVE rabbit & cause we live on abit of land, OH does shoot bunny for the dogs. In fact, when OH comes out of the spare room with the rifle over his arm, the dogs get VERY excited, cause bunny will be on the menu soon. Like Nekhbet, we also gut the bunny in case of lesions or other nasties (blah)
  10. Tassie, we will be coming down for the back to back doubles trials next month, so hopefully will catch up with you & your gorgous furbabies then! Thanks everyone I am really looking forward to "seeing" where Seven is at with her training (we just don't have the trials down here) Ptolomy........I am expecting it to become abit "pearshaped" but hey that's trialing & competing with an independant thinking individual.......our dogs! Will let everyone know how "well" we do on the day :D
  11. Well, last night I sat down & entered my Gsd girl for her very first UD trial for the end of the month It is my first for nearly TWENTY years .................dog I must get another hobby Three & half weeks & counting
  12. Congrats & well done the two of you :D Good luck at tommorrows trial
  13. WELL DONE The closest I have been to a 200 in open is a dirty old 196 It is possible to achieve such a score..............maybe, one day........the obedience gods will look on me favourably Enjoy Ptolomy & savour the moment
  14. I only just saw this Yep.........you are right only ONE more & you will have your Ccd
  15. A UDX title is brilliant - a UDX title with a 10 year old is priceless. Enjoy it and I hope she got a special dinner tonight! Well done with Tess's first CCD pass to Ditto, well done on your "young" girl Luvsblue & your very first pass Mercedes
  16. Thanks Ladies So far Seven's seek back is becoming very consistant Tassie, our first UD trial there will be no pressure for Seven, as you know, we just don't have the number of trials down here to wait till the dog is performing 100%.......or even mock trials to "see" where our dogs are with their exercises in a "trial" situation I realised a few moments ago, it's been over 20 years since I was in the UD ring with my Cardigan Corgi
  17. Thanks Kallistar (thumbs up) I am really pleased how quickly Seven has picked up UD, considering we have only been seriously training for the past 2 months & that we are doing it on our own Our first UD trial is six weeks off & I realistically entering it as a training session, to see where Seven is at & to have some new/fresh eyes to examine what we are doing
  18. Thanks Ptolomy & Leopuppy for your answers regars to my girl moving on her change of position I have another question to ponder in regards to the seek back exercise.......... Our local club is having it's double trial soon & I am planning on entering my girl in her first UD trial The club is running only one ring for all classes & am wondering am I confusing Seven with too many "layers" from me heeling my other dogs from novice & open????? The morning trial is not an issue as UD is before open & novice & I am more concerned to the afternoon trial
  19. Afternoon everyone, a quick question for you UD triallers (judges too) in regards to the interpretation of the wording of "more than" I am currently training my sheppie girl in UD & am having a slight issue on drop from stand, Seven drops forward. When sitting from drop, I have been able to get her to keep her front feet still so that she is bringing her bum up to her front......... She is moving forward, however my question is after looking at the ANKC rule book it says in deductions for signal exercise "over 50%; for a dog which moves MORE than half its body length..........as I mentioned Seven is moving forward but its about half her length, not more than. Am I looking at over 50% deduction & fail or substantial or just minor????? I hope that makes sense to everyone or is it clear as mud?
  20. Thanks very much everyone :p You know what dogslot?..........Seth would be one of the greeting party to welcome puppies & to watch over them

    Seth

Tonight my OH & I, let Seth (A/C Llacfarra Red Embers) my Gsd puppy boy go over the rainbow bridge, where he was met by his own heart dog, Shelby & Tia. He never won a best exhibt in group nor a CD title, however he won the hearts of many who loved the more traditional/old style of Gsd. His quiet regal look was quite imposing & for such a large dog........loved puppies, particulary gently placing them in his mouth & squeezing them till they squealed. Goodbye puppy boy, till we meet over the rainbow bridge
  22. Well done Danni & of course Gabby I remember seeing little Gabby in Ccd at Gawler, when I was over for a couple of trials last year. I wish we had a few more obedience trials down here, we are lucky to get about 12
  23. I did something quite similar........my OH & I were having glamour photos taken of ourselves & our Gsds. The photographer wanted Seth (42kg male Gsd) to lay down in a cretain area, so I dropped him (Seth.....not the photographer ) & then dragged him by 2 feet to place him just so. The photographer was amazed that I could do that to a male Gsd. I said to him "I can do that with MY Gsds" I handle my baby Gsds right from birth, touching feet/toes etc & strongly recommend to puppy owners to handle their new pups the same so that their vet will love them for it
  24. Way to go biker girl. Now that's what I call a big day out. FLovely scores for Seven - and first homebred title is very exciting. Thanks Tassie Are you competing this w/end at New Norfolk for the very first back to back double trials in Tassie? I am hoping to get down for the next back to back latter in the year
  25. OK a bit of a brag here from last weekend at our "local" trial in Launceston. Firstly my girl Seven passed both open trials with scores of 189 and 196!!!!!! Then our homebred girl Tasha passed two legs of her Ccd 90 and 98 to give her Ccd & our very first homebred title I think what made that quite an effort on Tash's part, is that she came in season three days latter :p On to novice & luckliy our next trial is not until 5 weeks time Thanks for letting me brag
