I have no problems with my dogs doing poos while we are out walking, bins aren't ever too far away on our walks. One of my dogs does one poo when she is let out in the morning and then when we go for a walk does another and I know exactly where she will do it on each of our walking routes, it is the same spot each time, and if I were to get really technical I would measure it and I am pretty sure it would be the same distance from the house on each walking route. She only poos on grassed areas while we are walking. My others go if needed but aren't as predicatable as Frog.

Have You Ever Got It Right 100%
rastus_froggy replied to Dust Angel's topic in General Dog Discussion
My heart dog was totally amazing, so easy going and nothing ever phased him, he loved other animals, didn't dig, didn't chew, didn't pull on lead, was great with kids, he was gentle yet protective. He is the reason I will never own another Rotty, I don't think it would be fair to the dog as I would have possibly unreasonable expectations of it. ICE And this is Chevy, my bf's dog, he is another dog that is just so chilled with life, easy to train, loves everything - and just couldn't be bothered to do anything naughty. A darn good dog considering his lack of training pre me entering his life. His only let down is that when he is playing he sometimes gets over excited and crashes into you. -

So, Do I Ignore The Next Loose Dog I See?
rastus_froggy replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
Some people just think it is ok to let their dogs roam, once I found a dog and on it's tag it said "Don't worry I always find my way home" no number or address. That REALLY annoyed me, the dog was not left on the street, I took it to the RSPCA. As for dogs with road sense, I did a couple of weeks work with Pets at peace recently and it really made me sad the amount of dogs I collected whose owners said "but they usually had such good road sense". Sorry no dog has good road sense. I will always pick up any loose dog I see, no matter how ungrateful their owners are, as I think that is what I would want someone to do for me if my dogs ever escaped, as the one you ignore may just be the one who needs you most. -
If I were a dog I would love to be owned by an older person! They would just sit there and pat you all day, feed you biscuits and then get pat some more! Definately check out seniors rescue.

I wouldnt coat them in anything, I would just get him detecting on the scent of the balls, if your dad uses different brands I would train him with a variety as they may be made of different materials.

I have been thinking about this some more and I have come up with another reason I teach my dogs tricks, and sometimes it is because I want to see if I am able to figure out how to break a skill down and figure out how to teach it. Of course it is stimulating for the dog and great bonding but sometimes it is to challenge me. Like with one of my previous dogs I taught him scent detection (of almond oil ) pretty much just to see if I could teach a dog to scent detect!

The news clip I saw it on did not mention a breed- which is pretty good, so I thought I'd pop in here to get all the details.

What tricks does your dog do ? Frog: Fetch ball put it in a basket and bring it to me, speak, jump over another dog or dogs, "crazy" which is where she jumps up puts all fours on my tummy pushes off and does a spin, heaps of the 101 Box Tricks stuff, opening drawers, from a drop if you say boing she springs up into the air, she can play the drum (she puts her feet on a paint can and steps them up and down) Stimpy: spin on her back feet, while in a sit if you say 'who knows the answer' she puts her paw up and she then waves it around to get your attention - like a kid busting to give the teacher an answer, she can do shy, jump on my back, sit on a peanut ball without it being held (that's pretty new and I am so proud of her for it), box tricks, speak, skip in the skipping rope with me. Chevy: He knows to drop the ball/ kong/ frisbee in front of you then run around behind you or he doesn't get to play again. Why did you teach that trick/those tricks in particular? Chevy's was because he kept getting the ball kicked into his face, so for practical reasons. Froggy and Stimpy get taught stuff because it is my way of challenging them and it's fun for me and them!! Was it something your dog gravitated naturally toward? Stimpy and Froggy are both naturally very jumpy dogs so anything involving jumping really suits them. Did you teach as a pup, or as an older dog? Pup... what's that?? I haven't owned a pup since 1992, mine are all dogs when they come to me.

Maybe neither of them are... maybe your true heart dog is yet to come

Yes maybe some rescues go over the top but with this rescue being concerned that this dog was not right to be rehomed is their prerogative and responsibility. I am sure you would much prefer this situation to my last encounter with rescue where they rehomed a dog to me who had attacked while in their care and neglected to tell me about this during the adoption, the whole situation ended in tears for me and worse for the dog.

Wouldn't waste any money on them after reading that!

This year was meant to be my first year of going but things have happened and I will not be going. But I have made sure that nothing will prevent me from going to the Susan Garrett workshops in November.
