  1. Not one dog imparticular but one breed, I met a few that were just weird ass dogs and I must admit that I have since then never given that breed the time of day let alone the chance for one to prove to me that they can be nice dogs
  2. All my current dogs have theirs and although only one of the dogs have injured hers (a number of times) any future dogs I have will be getting theirs removed at the same time they are desexed. The agony and the amount of blood that comes each time Froggy injures hers and the time it takes her to recover is something I don't think a dog should have to go through.
  3. I have one of these and all I can say is MARVELLOUS, SPECTACULAR, AMAZING, TERRIFIC, SUPER, TREMENDOUS, BRILLIANT, um I think that's it Get one or a heap!!
  4. When I first met OH his dad was telling me stuff about him and he told me that he had a staffy X and that was an instant in with me as I had 3 staffy X's at the time. So OH had his own dog when he came to me, but he loves my Stimpy and my Froggy is growing on him, I sometimes catch him outside having little cuddles with her which never use to happen. So we definately have our own dogs, I will be very interested to see how we go when we get our first dog together (which is still YEARS off) I'd say it will be more mine as when you do agility with them the bond is so strong, he will have to get an unagile dog so that I am not tempted to train it
  5. I would not put food in with the scent item at all as I would worry that the dog may be targeting the food scent and not the tea bag and even once you have removed the food the scent of the food may still linger. If you did want to go for a passive indicator with your dog movement limited dog perhaps you could do it as a long hold nose touch.
  6. Train the dogs to accept the chickens and not bark at them
  7. Ditch the obedience With my training I just switch the dogs when I feel the 1st dog has done what I want for that time frame - I have done this both with obedience and agility.
  8. I have 3 dogs and no I don't find it hard to leave one or 2 behind, I actually think it's really good for them, that way when one passes it will not be so hard on the other one/s as they will be use to them not always being there. Sometimes I walk 3, sometimes 2 (always making it different combinations of who walks and who stays home) and sometimes just one. When I go to comps sometimes I take 1 or 2. When I go away and can't take them 2 stay home and 1 goes to the kennels. I find it SO important for them to have seperate time. It's funny because some of my friends say to me 'Oh Stimpy is totally your favourite' and others say Froggy is - it just depends on where they see me as to which dog I have.
  9. My last pup came from a BYB in the worst area of our town, that was back in 1992 when I was just 16, luckily ICE was a healthy rotty and lived to nearly 13. Since then all my dogs have come from rescues as adults - unfortunately one came from a less than reputable rescue with a some major issues that they knew about but neglected to tell me of, which I have learnt from and will know in the future how to better choose a rescue organisation. I really want to get a pup from an amazing breeder one day, but I am such a sucker for the 'teenagers' in need, I will just have to wait and see when the time comes.
  10. This is what my vet does and I agree, it is only fair. OT: The last time I had to take one of my scaredy cats to the vet, I also took one of the dogs along for something else as well. I was amazed at how the scaredy cat settled to be examined - but she was continually looking at my dog who was laid out on the floor. I think he sent her some calm vibes. I'll take them together next time the cat needs to go Just watch out they don't try and charge you a double for having 2 pets in there
  11. I love them all, but the spandex one is such a classic
  12. No ideas from me but I just wanted to say I love the way everyones minds see things so differently yet could so easily all have the same outcome, and how much I love how DOL brings these altogether :p
  13. :p AHHHHHHHHH, I nearly peed myself while watching that!! Wow that has made my week!!! off to send it to others who will appreciate it!! :D
  14. I think it is neglectful to the dog as the back yard can only provide a limited amount of exposure to "things" and what happens to the dog if the owners ever do have to take it out (eg to the vets) or if the owners die and the dog has to be rehomed, I think to have a well rounded dog it is essential to expose it to as much as possible, not just their own territory. I believe this is more so for their own well being health than fitness health.
  15. Thanks for everything!! Have a great Christmas Troy!!
  16. Sorry to those I offended by calling it 'old school' traning, I did not meant to cause offence. I presume that this is the way this trainer was taught and has just continued doing this, I don't think that this trainer has ever or would ever go to any courses to refresh or update on training methods, which I find very sad. I have had a few pm's that have really got me thinking. Over the break I will have a think about what I may be able to do to help out. Wouldn't it just be the perfect world if we could just get this obedience school to have trialling obedience and "regular person" obedience that covered the things that people use every day (plus the less harsh methods currently used).
  17. Delightful X Ador-a-bull X Very Hug-a-bull (there's your bull breeds in her) X Kangaroo Stunning
  18. Is it too late to put in an order? I haven't done any Christmas shopping as yet and I figure your gifts are quick and easy for me to buy, give and forget about. ETA I forgot to ask too, are you doing half price specials at the moment like my local RSPCA? :D You know to get rid of excess stock before Christmas
