  1. There's a lady called Catherine Moran who does them and I think her work is brilliant, her email address is [email protected] Hope that email is still current, if not pm me and I can forward her number on to you.
  2. Trying to find some info on a trainer in the Richmond area, I think his name is Tim Tawney (or something similar). I met someone who sent their dog to him for a few months in house training and am interested to find out what methods of training he uses.
  3. Sounds like a vaccination lump. I can feel the microchip in my all of dogs and it is as the others have said just the size of a grain of rice.
  4. Not a pug person but they are definately cute!!
  5. You are lucky that the finger prints were done the next day around here people have to wait up to 2 weeks! As for the neighbours dog never being in it's own yard have you reported it? Glad it all worked out for you EFS
  6. I want a bull mastiff and a great dane as my retirement dogs - weird I know, but for me retirement dogs mean dogs for when I am old and no longer able to do agility there for I will get the heavier set dogs that are less suited to agility when I retire!
  7. The appeal of bull breeds to me is their nature, their coat type and their muscularity. Yes I like chunky, slender, smooth coated dogs, no I am not a drug dealer and I'm not even male. There are so many reasons to love this breed, people say they turn without warning, I don't believe this each breed and even each dog has a different method of warning that something is P!ss!ngthem off, maybe in some instances, it is that people need to be more familiar with dog language
  8. Saw a squashed brown on the road yesterday and the top temp we have had so far is 15. So they are definately about.
  9. Recently in our local paper there was an article that stated the there were 55 restricted breeds registered with our local council, it went into the break down of numbers (exact quote from paper 'There are 54 restricted breeds registered in Orange, including 17 pit bull terriers, six American pit bull terriers and 32 cross pit bull terriers') and that's just the registered ones - alot of people around here don't even register their dogs. I would say that in Australia there are ALOT.
  10. I do some work for Pets at Peace Central West and we do exhume dogs and then cremate them. The rate of decomposition depends on a lot of things, what you buried them in, the soil temperature, the depth you buried them (the deeper they are buried the longer it takes them to decompose as there is less activity deeper down in the soil) and of course how long they have been there. I will do not have the stomach to do any that have been buried for between a few days and 4 months - I always make my boss handle those. RSG if you want your girl exhumed but you don't want to be the one to actually have to do it give Shane a call, he will do it for you.
  11. Lost customers in general or lost customers because you had been taking your dog there?? If it is lost customers in general it is a bit silly of her to turn you away. I think there was some law change about dogs at outside tables a while back but nothing recent, I'm sure someone here will know what it was.
  12. A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Atlas!! And hugs to you on this day as well, hope you guys are remembering the good times.
  13. Well there you have it, the one that I didn't include in docile numbers is a mini, I didn't realise that was a characteristic difference.
  14. Welcome! Don't forget to add pictures of you dogs at some point ;)
  15. I think it is because bull terriers these days are are fairly docile dogs - actually of the 5 I know, I would say four of them are among the most doughy dogs I have EVER met of any breed, sorry Teebs your boy tops the list ;)
  16. My heart goes out to the family involved. Banning any breed of dog is not the answer and will never work. Look at any list of things that are illegal/banned, they never totally removed from society, they still there and they still occur. Banning anything only stops the honest people from doing/owning.
  17. Thanks guys I had no idea what it stood for it makes sense now.
  18. Got side tracked and came across an ad for a pup on Gumtree and a line in the ad says "I am also a breeder registered with the AAPDB" just wondering if anyone knows what this stands for? Thanks
  19. Recently I was asked if I was being paid to walk all those dogs, I had a very puzzled look on my face and just said 'No they are mine'. Walking off I realised that 3 dogs seems like a lot to someone who doesn't own any dogs. I don't feel like 3 is many to own at all thanks to DOL and the DOLers who have lots more
  20. Froggy plays quite rough, so I am selective with the dogs that I let her play with. She wrestles and body slams frequently and is also vocal while doing this, a lot of people interpret this as her being agressive but it's just her playing style. Stimpy doesn't play with other dogs, she will sniff them and they can sniff her (but only for her allocated time length) if they try to start a game with her they are quickly told to bugger off, she can mingle in a pack fine but would rather be at my side.
  21. Our Chevy dog loves to play with soccer balls, just the regular you kick it, he chases it and brings it back, but I was finding that more often than not he was dropping the ball taking a few steps back then copping a ball in the face when I kicked it - so then he was dropping the ball back at our feet within 2 seconds. So to fix this problem I taught him to drop the ball at our feet then he has to run around behind us (kind of like an obedience finish) which gives us plenty of time to kick the ball and then he has to actually chase the ball a reasonable distance.
  22. Go into the training thread and check out the tricks, there are lots ther that you can work on without her being too active.
  23. First time I lost a dog it took me nearly 4 years before I got another, when my next dog was 12 I got another and since then have not been a single dog household. I think the time varies too if you no longer have any dog as to if you have others there with you still. I believe you just know when the time is right and you know the right dog too.
