Giving Up Dog As Not Safe To Walk Him
rastus_froggy replied to loveleroy's topic in General Dog Discussion
I see all these things as training issues, things that YOU CAN work on with your dog. Perhaps at the time you did not realise that your dog intently watching a ball was a bad thing but it is, you need to get your dog to focus on you rather than the ball. PLEASE teach your children not to tease your dog And yes I am going to be harsh, irresponsible dog owners are not only those who have their dog off leash. I hope you find a nice experienced home to take your dog. -
I LOVE the last picture in your second post He is gorgeous!

I am using a tea tree moisturiser on my boys ears at the moment, the flies were eating him alive but they leave him alone with it on them and he has super soft ears! It also helped the bites heal too.

What Do You Think Of This Rspca Ad?
rastus_froggy replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Maybe they need to borrow the Rivers disclaimer "Your local store may have thousands or may have none" I agree with what Aphra said dating agencies put the 'sexy' ones out there to get people in and although that may not be what everyone is after it gets them in and from there thay can see if there is anyone who suits them. Advertising is all about getting people through the door, even if they don't purchase what has been advertised they may purchase something else or they may revisit in the future. -
I think there are so many factors to this, the type/size of the dogs, what you do with them and their purpose in your life, your aims for them and their ages. For me I know 3 is my limit - currently I have 2 and it is great I can give each one so much individual time. My oh has one - who I also walk and train so really I have 3, I know 1 is his limit, he could never own 2 at once. But a general crazy dog lady limit??? I agree with the theory of one more than you can handle.

How Many Of Your Dogs Do You Walk At Once?
rastus_froggy replied to snow_wolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sometimes I walk all 3 at once (one 35kg, one 16kg and one 7kg), sometimes I just walk one or 2. Halfthewords just wondering how you would handle 6 dogs in an off leash park if one of them were attacked by another dog and then they all went in on it? -

Moles/freckles On Dogs - Can They Get Them?

My staffy girl has SO many freckles, she never use to have any, they have just appeared over time. I'm sure it's from her laying on her back in the sun -
What's The Most Ridiculous Thing Your Dog's Been Called?
rastus_froggy replied to ~Rumour~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Stimpy has been called a bat earred rat Someone else at a dog show thought she was a pure bred something. -
Generally every year I do a ring around and my regular vets is usually the cheapest for the C5, about $56 each with the 2 dog discount, I didn't ring around this year and nearly died when I was charged $87 each at the same vet. The full check included at my vets is a quick look at the teeth, check the heart beat and take temp. The entire appointment for the 2 dogs takes 5min max. I don't expect to get a discount for having 2 dogs as they are both getting equal treatment - although when I get the discount I don't knock it back. It was just a shock this year when it went up so dramatically.

I must admit I think you have given her a great name I don't mind sharing my name with a dog as stunning as her

What's Wrong About Giving Dogs Human Names?
rastus_froggy replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think I have figured out why I don't like human names for dogs, I have a fairly unique name - I never met anyone with my name until I was 20 - now it's a bit more common. I never had to share my name with anyone so I guess the easiest way for my animals to not have to share names is by giving them other names. My parents used predominately human names for our pets when we were children, dogs were Ben & Annie, horses Heidi, Penny & Barney, but then there were also the other names Pinnacle, Dusty, Sooty, Checka. The pets I have named (dogs) Brutus, ICE, Froggy, Stimpy, Cockatoos - Hoshi & Jep, rabbit Jahli, chicken Florence (probably the most human name I have chosen). I don't have an issue with anyone calling their dog a human name, it's just not my preference. -
I still can't even bring myself to give a dog a "human name" they have to be other names.

Feeding Two Dogs Bones In A Shared Yard
rastus_froggy replied to Sam the man's topic in General Dog Discussion
With the 2 of my big dogs I would NEVER do it. Frog only gets bones in her pen. Chevy and Stimpy can have bones while in the yard together but as Chevy is about 4 times the size of Stimpy I usually leave 2 big bones out for him and one smaller one for her so when he is finished with his first one he can start on his second one without bothering Stimp for hers. Although she has been seen many times preventing him from getting into the kennel while she has a bone in there, I would not want to put her in any danger. That is my way of handling my current situation, but honestly until you really know both dogs and how they interact I would not risk it, and even when you do have it figured you really still cant predict everything. -
Our local ranger has a dual cab triton hard covered - once when I called him to come pick up 2 dogs I had found he put them both in the back unteathered and one of them was a great Dane

Dog Photography Pictures By Tim Flach.
rastus_froggy replied to Arlizng's topic in General Dog Discussion
I went to Collins Book Store before Christmas to buy 2 more of a this giant dog book I had bought one for myself and then decided to get some more for some friends and the shop didnt have anymore of the giant book so they had to order them for me and in true selling style they quickly pulled the Tim Flach book off the shelf and instantly I was sold on it :D . It's a great book! Funny thing is when I went back to pick up the other 2 books they tried selling me the Tim Flach book again - I guess they figured if I bought 3 of the same book once I may do it again -
Why Don't You Holiday With Your Dog?
rastus_froggy replied to dee lee's topic in General Dog Discussion
My last holiday was a driving holiday last Christmas, it was scortching hot and no way we would have taken the three dogs in the back of the ute - plus while in Tassie we went into way too many National Parks, we would have had to put them into boarding just about every day anyway! Next holiday is to Samoa and apart from it being totally not possible to take them, one of the islands is a dog free area. -
I am continually told how my staffy is such a beautiful dog and such a fine specimen of the breed and I am continually telling people how she is actually a very badly back yard bred girl from the pound, then they go on to tell me how amazing it is that I got such a great dog from the pound. Although she is beautiful to me she is neither a Stafford or Am Staff, she's in between those sizes, and far from a fine specimen. But yeah some people refer to any small statured, muscly staffy as an English.

Mdba Annual Awards Ceremony
rastus_froggy replied to ShesaLikeableBiBear's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am determined to attend one year but this is not the year that it will be, while ever Pets at Peace CW is nominated my part time boss will be attending the awards and while ever he is out of town I run the business. So I guess each year I don't attend means it's better for our business as it means we are nominated! -
When I moved into town from the farm (my parents place) I wanted my 12 year old rotty to come with me but each time I took him to my new house he would be ok for a bit but then would try to go back to the car. It tore my heart out but he did not like being in town so I decided he should stay on the farm, a year later he died in his sleep. He was not confused that I was not there all the time, I did not even get to see him everyday, they adapt and adjust to the situations we put them in, ICE was always super glad to see me and never forgot that I was his special one. Keep you girl in the situation that is safest and least stressful for her
