I'm truly sorry for your loss, a gorgeous boy
-
If you are referring to me, then I actually spoke to the sire's owner as I said is a well respected breeder. I did see the dog's pedigree and because we could save a couple of hundred dollars, and to me it didn't make a difference because I wasn't going down the showing or breeding track, I chose to go the cheapskate route. I would not think that the sire's owner would put herself into a situation where she was found to be untruthful. She is to this day winning in the show ring. Sorry, but not very ethical of a breeder to be charging $200 more for papers! I guess you are right, but I had no problems with the breeder. If I needed to know anything from the breeder she was very forthcoming. I must admit that was in the days before I knew anything about registered breeders and protocol needed to be followed. Other than saving ourselves $200 I was not dudded and the boy we picked was a magnificent boy. Now I know much better and with each subsequent pup I will always ensure that the pedigree comes too. I've had a breeder like that too. Probably not the best dogs or best dietary start but very helpful and friendly and I still got the best dog. :D I don't care what anyone says, if I find a breeder who might not stick to the 'rules' but I feel they tick all my other boxes I still move forward with this breeder if we have clicked. My main priority is always after sales support.

If it is to a private home I would take the dog. If you opt for the Nobivac vaccine I think you will be in the clear then anyway (from memory).

For best results soak for 24hrs at room temp. For immediate use mix thoroughly in hot water for a few mins. Hope this helps.

I have a 120g sample bag here. Is it for puppy, dog or cat? I will give you the dog one. Combine 120g with half cup of water Soak and mix with 360g of raw meat to create 600g of food. This is enough to feed 25-30kg dog for one day.

Cutting Dark Nails On A Puppy?
Clyde replied to Topoftheheap's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thankyou, ive been trying to do this, but you would know how hard it is to convince a 12 week old and a 17 week old puppy of this~! It's a struggle! Put puppy up high on a bench, it quietens them a bit and makes them easier to handle. -

Turn wrist back on to itself so you can see from under the nail. This way you can see where the quick ends and what is just empty nail. Just take a tiny bit off each time, you soon then get to learn where is best to stop. -
Technically, there is no such thing as a pedigree black Stafford. They are all black brindle and if you look closely you will find a brindle hair on them somewhere. My Esme appears to be jet black but she has two brindle hairs on her head. She was bought as a black brindle and her pedigree papers say black brindle. It was tough work though finding one as black as possible Daveri, if you don't like the name change it. Don't fell bad she will adjust in a week whereas you have her for a life time with a name you aren't keen on. She could have just been bought as a pure bred but not technically a pedigree/from a registered breeder. Although some unethical breeders do sell without papers. Either way I don't suppose it really matters! She's got a beaut new home and you love her regardless

Only the Americans are American. A lot of people call them Amstaffs for short. What you have is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, or Stafford, SBT and some say Staffy (although this is controversial ) Either way she looks absolutely gorgeous and seems like she has landed on her feet with you. Hope things continue to go smoothly, she certainly sounds like she has adjuted well

Mine all get left out too although I don't know if I'd leave a large bouncy pup (ie 6 months -1 yr) out with a small breed. I guess it just depends on the dog!

gsdog2, you've done the most wonderful thing, this has been a really interesting thread to read and learn more. Looking forward to the big update, I have my fingers crossed that he passes through.

Absolutely agree
-
I did the same. I have a Stafford with huge prey drive and she lives with the chooks peacefully, all my dogs do. Only the Maremmas are left with them when I go out though.

The dog is an LGD so it is expected that it live along side other animals. Although not sure if the dog is pure or not?? That being said, even the LGD's need to be taught to behave around stock. I think the parentage of the dog needs to be clearer in order to help. If the dog is not pure Anatolian then it is a different kettle of fish IMO.

Which regions in the Sthn Highlands have them? Sydney's south western suburbs are basically tick free and I have never know of anyone to encounter them south (unless you get closer to the coast) or west of here either. . Wildes Meadow, Avoca, Fitzroy Falls, Robertson and even Moss Vale. Already had one client lose a dog and another lost an Alpaca. The whole Kangaroo Valley area has always been a problem tick area because of the high rainfall. I still class anywhere east of Moss Vale as coastal but didn't know they had reached as far as Moss Vale itself. Thanks for the heads up. I don't know if I'd class myself as 'Kangaroo Valley area', it's a fair drive from here (I am ten minutes out of Bowral). Ticks are all around Bundanoon too so they are certainly traveling in land over time.

I have groomed dogs which regularly had p ticks with no reaction. Some dogs appear more sensitive to them than others. We have ticks here in the Highlands where there is no coast and freezing temperatures. Thankfully my immediate area doesn't have them as I moved here to be tick free, but 10 minutes either side of me has them so I believe it is only a matter of time until they reach here.

Even more so when it's 95 kilos.

OMG could you imagine how great life could be if the vaccine was brought to fruition? I haven't ever heard of it before but it certainly sounds like a worthwhile fundraiser!
-
I have soooo many clients who book Shooshitzoos in for grooms.
-
I vet nursed for a while and back then it was about $10.80 per hour. I simply couldn't afford to continue, after paying rent and bills I had nothing so got in to grooming.

How crushing for their owner, just terrible.

Oh how awful I've been following the threads holding my breath for good news. Very sorry to you Sway and to her family.
