British Bulldog - Flea Allergy Dermatitis

The Aloveen Leave in Conditioner is a soothing cream. I'd be careful throwing anything else on it. It also helps with the drying of the Malaseb which is a double edged sword. It's made by the same company and available most places, especially vets. Chat to your vet about using Malaseb for the ears, Epiotic is pretty useless and the Malaseb diluted in water does the trick. Epiotic also stings when there are little cracks/splits in the skin. It was one part Malaseb to 30 parts water from memory, but I think it's since been reevaluated at 1-15, check with the vet. Gently squirt it in the ear, massage then let the dog shake - all the goop will fly out, then gently wipe with a dry cloth/tissue to get the excess. When shampooing her make sure the Malaseb is left on for ten minutes. It is useless if rinsed off straight away as it doesn't start acting until 7 + minutes. -

It's a tricky one, but I feel that diet helps. A FAD dog is often predisposed to skin sensitivity full stop so I would probably treat her as a 'sensitive skin' case. I have found the Salmon and Anchovy kibble to work really well. It is not cheap, it is made by Holistic Select (Eagle Pack) and available at most pet stores. Malaseb washes two or three times week and Aloveen Leave In Conditioner rubbed in afterwards to soothe the skin. I would be happy to do this for you for as long and as much as you like (groomer) but I know it might be a bit far from you (I am ten mins from the top of Macquarie Pass). I can't promise you would go home with her though  Or as BBLover suggested above ProPlan also do a salmon based kibble. I would leave out rice/pasta etc and I think someone else said to add pumpkin, sweet potato etc. -

She needs to come and stay with meeeeeeeeeee - but you can have her back when her skin is fixed -
All the dogs are gorgeous and terrific photos too Have to say this little black schnitzel has caught my eye though, very pretty and rarely seen in black - in fact I've never seen one in the flesh!

Thanks Jules, it's been a truck load of work and still ongoing but I love it here

I have got post and rail all around the property. I saved bucketloads painting it myself but the fencing on it's own was about $17K. That didn't even include the gates as I had a few of them custom made by a different tradie. I still don't trust the fencing to keep the little dogs in while I'm out so they go in the dog runs for peace of mind. It was money well spent IMO, being rural I occasionally have random dogs cruise down my driveway and I am thankful that my dogs cannot get to the stray.

I would try Aloveen Shampoo and Leave in Conditioner for general itchiness.

I wonder why they didn't lop his nuts off at the same time? Poor dog, just the nails alone were a sight for sore eyes, he must be feeling so much better Hope this catch the idiot who let the dog get like this.

This. My old Maremma girl has it too. She was put on pain relief straight away and I changed her diet to a very low fat one. I had to take her off the meds at one stage and found her to actually improve - and the warmer weather and the weight loss also contributed. She is currently drug free but cannot manage stairs on her own at all. Being an outside working dog and in a cold climate I am not looking forward to next winter She gets stressed kept indoors overnight though as working outside is all she knows.

Snout girl hasn't been back, I wonder if her new pup has exhausted her already JM - what a gorgeous puppy photo

Whenever I used Malaseb long term I've finished off with Aloveen Leave In Conditioner

I'm Not Sure If I Should Feel Shocked Or Just Stupid

Is the Husky as a friend for your little Poodle? If it is, I don't know if it would be such a good match as I wouldn't ever have them alone together. -
Same - I didn't even realise there were measurements! Just squirt it on and go for it. THe most important aspect is giving it the ten minutes to work. I don't know if it's something I would use long term, it can be very drying on the coat.

She was such a special girl Griff, so much a part of you

What a beautiful cat, I am sorry for your loss Flaves.

He sounds like my kind of boofhead

Thanks for posting this, I am going to try it. It's certainly cheaper than the Holisitc Select fish one they are on now!

Brintey, how do you manage the barking in the suburbs? Do they just spend a lot of time indoors?
-
Wanna' swap? He's no trouble... really.

Sorry, going nuts with photos, can't help myself

Contact Espinay on this forum. I don't know if I'd have a Pyr in town as they do bark a lot but breeders will know more about that. I have a Maremma here who I think is half Pyr and he seems to have the Pyr nature. Very soft and cuddly with mountains of coat and legs that would make Elle Macpherson jealous. I researched the breed before adopting my boy from Andrea, they aren't easy to come by and are in the higher price bracket, $3-4K. They are a Livestock Guardian breed and also not active in the sense of needing an active family and copious amounts of exercise. My boy won't budge from my yard Chances are the dog will find 'their spot' and not need a super large yard yard anyway, it's just the barking they need to be mindful of. Tell them to research LGD's as a whole too, to get more of an understanding of the way the breed lives/works. Next to my Maremma, Forbee is the bigger dog

As soon as I read "devil in a pug body" I knew he would be black  Congrats on Bruce, he looks adorable. Hold on to your seat though
