I Want My Dog Back

I'm not sure where to put this and I'm really struggling for the past few days. My beloved Diva died a year ago come the end of this month.

I spiraled into a deep depression that took months to even begin to climb out of and I've been struggling ever since. I had a few "good" months and was feeling a little stronger. Last month I really started to plummet again and this past week has been overwhelming.

I have so many good things in my life and they help keep me moderately sane, but in my heart all I want is my dog back. I hurt so much.

I don't know what I want from this post. I know I'm not the only one out there and I know you all have your own heartache. I can't bear to read other Rainbow Bridge threads to even offer my support because it knocks me out for hours and hours.

Maybe just putting this out here will help. I don't know. I just hurt.

I'm really sorry for the loss of your Diva  I can certainly understand the pain you are going through and there are no "rules" about grieving. It should get easier with time to remember the wonderful (and funny) moments and less of the painful ones. If you are struggling as much as your post indicates, perhaps some grief counseling would be highly beneficial. There are people that specialise in companion animals.

I just did a really quick search on Google and found this link: Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement They have a support group for people specifically who have lost their companion animals. Good luck and take care

I'm sorry you are feeling so bad

have you considerd contacting a grief counsellor or someone? They may give you some strategies for getting back in control.

Thank you. Unfortunately, we are pretty remote and that service isn't readily available here.

Hello kja, I am so sorry for your loss.

Can I ask if you have another dog?

Yes, we have our girl Dora and our new girl MatildaLily - there's a long thread with photos in the Photo area though most of the photos are down at the moment coz I exceeded photobucket's free bandwidth allotment LOL I also blog at www.krisitnsnews.blogspot.com with lots of stuff on them.

Thanks for the link, it looks like it has some options and I will check some of them out.

Appreciate the fast responses.

I am so sorry for your loss Kja. I lost my big girl 2 1/2 years ago & I too want her back so much it hurts. I long to feel the texture of her fur, that tongue licking my elbow & those gorgeous eyes looking into mine even though I am surrounded by 5 other much loved dogs & puppies once or twice a year. I catch myself placing my hand on my heart just to feel the tattoo of her (my avatar) & not a day goes by that I think of her at least a hundred times a day.

You are definitely not alone & I have found this site to be full of wonderful people just wanting to help. If you ever need an ear or in this case a pair of eyes to share your pain, I am here for you even though we don't know each other.

The pain will never quite go away but you have to be strong for your new pup & other resident dog. There are threads pinned in this forum for other grief counselling links if you need them & it does help to talk to someone to let it all out. You might not feel like laughing but we can't help it when we start to remember the funny or sweet things they did.

Remember we are all here for you & I'm only a computer screen away if you need to talk!

I really hope you can get some help for your depression.

 Diva would not want you to be sad because she's not here anymore - I'm sure she loved you and you obviously adored her - remember and cherish the special time you spent with her.
