are these furminators better than, same as a mars comb? I've seen them, but since they are very expensive, I'm hesitent, I'm wondering if they would be good for ears etc. my dog yelps something shocking when I try to comb out his ears..

I use one on my Bull Terrier, love it! I am still amazed at how much fur it gets out! Kaos wont let me touch her with it

What size do you use? Was thinking of ordering a medium :D Pele is shedding like crazy and I use a Zoom Groom on her, but if a Furminator works better then I'm sold

In my opinion furminators are harsher than a mars coat king. I use my Mars on the show dogs and the furminator on the pets and horses.

I use the cat one

The next size up was too big for the cats, so got the one that did them, and use it on the dog!

have used the Noahs de-shedder and the furminator in my salon, both equally as good, huge price diffrence, i no longer carry the furminator to onsell to my customers, everyone loves the noahs de-shedder :)

Thanks k9kutz, might order one. At $22 if I'm not happy with it I don't feel so bad about relegating it to the back of the cupboard or giving it away :)

Had a look on eBay last night and they have Furminators on there for less than $20!

BIG difference in price. Anyone know if they're genuine

Not genuine, I emailed them ages ago asking them, they side winded around the answer before admiting they werent the real Furminators.

Oh crap, I bought one this afternoon  Was only $20 inc postage though so if it's not good then no big loss.

The seller I bought it from had it listed as 'genuine Furminator'...

Well I got my ebay ordered furminator and it looks the same as the one I brought for $120 from Petbarn - package is a bit damaged so I don't know if that means they have done some creative repackaging. It is in Furminator packaging. I guess I will know if it works the same when I use it tonight. Still, $100 cheaper than Petbarn, it has me wondering...

Anyone else order one from ebay?

 Ok.. update. Finally got a furminator, and it is AMAZING. Works great on the weims. Doesn't damage the coat and pulls lots of dead hair out of the ones who are still shedding. Way more effective than either my hound mitt or slicker. We'll see how it goes with regular use, but at this point, I would have to say I am impressed. (Not with the price though.. OUCH!)

It's the way they say it. There are two types. There's the Furminator - the real one, then there's the deShedder - the cheap copy. In the ebay listing you can notice that they call it the 'Furminator deShedding Tool'.

I dont think anything is different betweent the two either (except the price) and my deShedder does a great job.

I bought my FURminator from here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GENUINE-FURMINATOR-...%3D10%26ps%3D63

It cost me a little over $20 inc postage, came in sealed branded packaging with a guarantee and is stamped with the FURminator logo and US patents numbers on top. To me it looks genuine but I have nothing to compare it too....

Anyhow it works great. I dont think it loosens the dead hair as much as my Zoom Groom (though that could be due to the fact that I dont apply as much pressure) but it collects the hair well and Kei's coat feels really nice after using it. I've taken to giving him a good hard brush with the Zoom Groom followed by a once over with the FURminator :cheer:

I can't say I get a LOT of hair out of him, but then he is a Ridgie and doesn't have a lot to start off with

The real test was when I brushed the cat (Burmese) with it last week. I got enough hair out to build a whole new kitty :)

Lucky I went to buy something to brush the Permanently shedding long haired "Putty Tat" Furminator was recommended AND on half price special :)

Was really surprised it worked on such a short coat ..Bull Terrier Miniature..he doesn't mind it either
