Hello DOLers…just a quick query. For the past six years our little boy maltese has slept every night in the crook of my husband’s arms (I don't get a look in). Does he do so because he adores OH and wants to be near him, or is it because he simply feels safe? I’d like to think the former, but I fear you’re going to tell me the latter…and if so..does anyone really know what motivates a dog's actions?

It possibly resembles a warm nest?

Orbit sleeps under the blankets with me in winter and snuggles in to me - I'd love to believe it was because he loves me, but I'm sure he's just using me for my body warmth!

Same! We moved into a house almost a year ago (previously in an apartment that kept a very even temperature). And during summer Timmy ditched us for the couch! Now it's cooling down again he's back like velcro do! :( In the very set temp of the apartment he was an everynight fixture.

My mini poodle (RIP) used to cuddle into the small of my back. On the night he had some bacj teeth out he laid in the crook of my arm like a baby all night. I think it is part comfort, part habit, part warmth - mostly love
