I'm still thinking about it, though I may have left planning too late as I think the rest of the kiwis have made their plans! I think I'll wait for Elsie's permanent measure.... What's the competitive class there? Not sure if Elsie will be in the 400 (which is 460mm and under correct?) or the 500 class yet.

The super competitive class is 500 - but there are some crackers in 400 also, especially in Masters (and I know of one young very insane 400 working line BC who will be going over for it I daresay).

Cutoff for 400 is 455mm

Hmmm interesting, our competitive class here is "midi" which is 430mm-520mm, Elsie is well and truly in the midi group with her interim measurement, but pretty close to the Aussie 400/500 cutoff.

Why not Lisey? Have you started training? You should make it your goal to enter Novice at the Nationals, it's an awesome atmosphere  I have done 2 different nationals with two different dogs, my older dog - well the Nationals was his third ever trial

We have only been going to classes since August.... Really enjoying it though and Booker is picking it up quickly. He loves it. Plus over Christmas classes stop for 2 months, don't know what I am going to do with all my free time (as obedience classes stop too) :)

My misguided missile is getting a little bit misguided. I still have a lot of work to do on his steering, and trying to get my timing right. He is so much more explosive than Kirra, so old habits just won't do.

This run was the last of the day - if only I'd called 'tunnel' before the jump before the black tunnel instead of using his name again and pulling him off the jump - and no, I have no idea why I used his name again. It all happens very fast out there. I am very happy that he loves the game, and that he gets that it's a game he plays with me in the ring. That's got to be a good start. :)

Some more regular training would help too ... if only.

He looks lovely Tassie! I actually think he has improved quite a bit  My 2 cents....I would be doing a lead out pivot on those first 2 jumps (provided it looks as it does on course as it does in the video if you get my meaning). Also he has enough drive for you to send him on independent pinwheels - he doesn't need babysitting and that would give you enough time to get in position. He has lovely forward focus too. Nice work!

:D Thanks TSD. Yes - did think about the LOP, but we're not really confident enough to try that in such a tight situation. I should have accentuated the shoulder pull - keep forgetting that he's bigger and faster than Kirra.

It was a bit tricky up the top when he came out of the black tunnel the first time - had to get him right across the front of the tunnel to get on to the pinwheel. But yes, he's certainly getting better at pinwheels - and his runs home each run were super. And although he rattled the tyre one time, he didn't just crash through it in any of his runs (something he has done before.)

His jumping runs are certainly getting better - agility - not so much - but even those are improving a bit - only one totally crazy out of 3.

Hey Tassie! I think you're underestimating him!!!! He is very sensitive to your body/voice (hence why he pulled into you) - I reckon he would nail the LOP and the pinwheel. Although I understand what you mean - I've got to go between a lanky, long striding Dally and a slightly insane buzz box - was learning last week about Em's take off point for LOP - oh my, but it's YEARS earlier than Zig's  He responded really well to your call out of the tunnel - push him I reckon :p

 I can imagine you're having fun learning to handle your two different kids. Slightly insane buzz box .. love it.

Yes - I do need to trust him more - I have to do it on the straight runs home, cos I'm nowhere in the picture  , and he manages those quite nicely. I know the main problem is trying to do too many things with him - the old jack of all trades, master of none thing. Added to which there is no specialist agility club or training down here - just the odd chance to train at the obedience club - and that's for about 15 minutes a week. I need a trainer or a mentor. We're trying to organise some more serious stuff over the Christmas vacation, which will be good. His calendar is very full at the moment  - rally and obedience next week, then obedience the following week, then agility, then rally, then agility, then rally and obedience ..... no more conformation until the New Year, thank goodness.

Had the best time at NZDAC! Managed a couple of clear rounds here and there, and got a 3rd in Jumpers to qualify for the finals. The final was so terrifying, as everyone at the show crowded around the one ring to watch the 15 or so dogs competing for the trophy, we were 4th dog to run so I just thought "go hard or go home" and we ran hard and got a good time. After an excruciating wait for results while the other finals ran, we finally got the news... We won!!

Wow that's awesome! Congratulations DD & Elsie    Don't suppose anyone got it on video :provoke: Nice trophy!

Thanks! I really hope someone did video the run! I saw a few cameras around, I didn't think to ask anyone to video it for me as I'm always scared I'll jinx my run LOL
