Sighthounds With Cats?

There are plenty of breeds with a much higher prey drive than Sighthounds :)

Like my Cavaliers....they love chasing the cats! If they run that is.

My friend has always adopted GAP greyhounds and she gets them "cat friendly". They get along great.

Those pics were taken when Buzz was a bubba, they don't really play chasey anymore.. Buzz came from a breeder who socialised him with a cat, other adult dogs, kids and a pet Magpie  Bob Cat came to us as a 9yr old rescue, and is just fantastic with the dogs. He & Buzz are great mates, and spend lots of time sharing a bed.

Just because a dog is a Sighthound does not automatically mean cats are fair game

These photos are real heart melters, all of them. :crossfingers:

In own experience I had a cat and then got whippets as puppies. They didn't chase her because I taught them it wasn't on. All those have now gone and my current crew of five whippets haven't grown up with cats and I feel certain they'd throttle them, even though I've taken a couple of whippets to a friends cattery and tried to teach them not to touch the cats I can see in their eyes first chance they got they'd have them by the throat, or where ever they could. I would dearly love another cat but I wont be happening as long as I have these whippets.

I reckon it depends on the cat!

One of my whippets was brought up with my cat, and they fight together - chase each other all sorts!

My other whippet who I got later in his life is scared of the cat.

They both have been known to want to chase other cats though.
