I was watching a friend taking shots the other dasy & noticed she had both eyes open. I tried it and well it did my head in LOL. I can see advantages to having both eyes open but I dont seem, to master it in practice. Is there advantage to having both eyes open? Was just interested to see how others shoot.

Only open second eye if I need to know how close something is that Im not taking a pic of (when you hear a horse close pays to check where it is). Maybe thats why I cant quite take pics using the LCD screen on P&S cameras - have to use the viewfinder

With a bit of practice it becomes more normal-feeling. And does have some "big picture" benefits other than just safety in an action zone. I think most target competition and hunting rifle shooters can use both eyes - for accuracy and depth perception more than safety.
