A Benefit Of Crate Training

We were asked why we have dog crates and if there was any real benefit to dogs being crate trained. This photo speaks for itself:

These are three of our dogs asleep in their crates (doors open). The fourth dog was in her crate behind me.

In itself it doesn't seem that noteworthy except that they're doing this while there are a heap of strangers in the house packing everything into boxes ready for our move interstate. Their routine is completely disrupted, unfamiliar noises and smells in their home and the house is in total chaos yet the dogs are completely relaxed. For us that's a benefit of crate training - no stressed dogs in a highly stressful environment.

:) Now that is a good reason!

or (playing devil's advocate) :o

The dogs have retreated to the one spot which is unchanged, away from the bustle , and have cut out the chaos by sleeping ...kinda like zoo animals- lots of crowd etc..they disappear in sleep .

We finally found a place after 14 months. Who says patience doesn't pay!
