That sux Lisa - I can't believe they were taking sick dogs out and about!! That's disgusting!!

Nixon has probably been retching for a couple of days now, but once again I was a bit slow off the mark to realise it was 'coughing'. Last night and this morning he was doing it a lot. He's also been quite unsettled during the night which is usually a sign he's not too well - otherwise he's usually out to it til morning.

We probably had about a month without coughing I think? So I assume what he's got is another strain again - surely he'd already have immunity if it was the same one?!

Any ideas for boosting the immune system?

We aren't in a similar area, but I was at the vet a few weeks ago with a dog who was having breathing issues and the vet said they were seeing the second strain of KC coming through this season :(

We didn't have it, luckily (just hayfever), but here in Sydney there are several different strains going around so perhaps it's happening up there too?

Thanks minimax, that's good to know - just can't believe our (lack of) luck. Taking him to the vet this afternoon. He's much sicker with this second one - more severe, more frequent coughing, and he also managed to bring up some phlegm last night, and has a snotty nose. Still seems fairly bright, but he's really going to hate being quarantined again (and me too!)

He was also due to finally do his last basic obedience class and graduate next weekend (he missed the first one due to KC, so've waited 6 weeks for the next class to come through). Looks like he'll be missing out again.

It is awful luck! Hopefully he's getting all the back luck out of the way early!

Thanks guys, it's so nice being able to share with all the other neurotic puppy mummies (and daddies) on here. We have antibiotics now, and he'll hopefully feel better soon! He's fast asleep in the bathroom right now which proves his not well - he'd normally be within cms of me at all times :)

The vet did say to be careful, because tick paralysis can sometimes present as a cough first. FYI.

Lisa, that's so exciting you have your first show coming up!! I'm sure you and Nova will nail it!

Thanks guys, it's October long weekend so still a while to go. It will probably rain, and I will probably fall over laugh.gif

Good luck!

Don't worry, I've shown in rain more than sunshine and haven't fallen over yet! Just get some good shoes like Sketchers with some good grip! I have proper joggers as well, but I prefer my Sketchers to show in, I feel like I grip better.

Thanks you, I do need to buy some shoes... and some clothes, and leash :) I think silver, type? I have no idea what would be best for a pup.

Clothes are easy, don't stress too much. I can never find the nice shiny suits some showies wear, so I've partnered beige slacks with a blouse from Dotti (white with tiny black spots) and a blue jacket also from Dotti. I have a skirt suit from Noni B but it's too long to run fast in!

These are pics from my last sunny show with and without jacket (October will probably be too hot for a jacket! Some will wear one anyway, but this was July and it was too hot!)

And don't forget Number One thing......HAVE FUN!

Willow had her first Show at the Adelaide Royal, lets just say it was a great socialisation experience. :o

She wasn't nearly as naughty as I thought she was going to be, but nowhere near as good as I wanted her to be. Hoping to sneak in a couple of more shows before the end of the year and the show season. (We have lots of work to do.)

Hank training with me at the beach this morning! He's still not a fan of the waves though, I don't think he quite gets the concept yet

Thanks dotdashdot, your wearing is basically what I was going for, I can't stand the shiny 80s suits some people wear laugh.gif

Thanks Hankodie, Hank is looking gorgeous as usual :) He is so white!
