A cancerous lump was removed from his lung and Specialist can't see it anywhere else but doesn't want to assume it isn't. So have started working on anti-cancer diet and supplements to support him and hopefully prevent anymore cancer showing up. Cooked vegetables as he is still recovering and his stomach is still abit sensitive. Can't seem to handle raw at moment. Cooked chicken, some pork. Am looking for a filler as you are not suppose to use rice or other grains and his appetite is too big for just protein and veggies. His diet was pretty similar before but it had WD dry or rice in it. I got the Black Hawk dry but it has a few things in it like sweet potatoe that you are not suppose to eat. denali Posted August 12, 2015 Share Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) What about things like chickpeas? Cous cous, quinoa? Also if you haven't already, look into tumeric golden paste. And at the holistic vet I worked at we would treat cancer with Vitamin K intravenously, while you shouldn't do that, adding it to the diet should be helpful. Ci Posted August 17, 2015 Author Share Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Well, I don't know if it is my imagination but one of my dogs seems to itch like crazy when I give her the Black Hawk chicken. Unfortunately Tex couldn't handle it too well as he is still recovering from surgery and his tummy is still sensitive so after a week of a small amount of Black Hawk, he was looking abit miserable. Have put him back on a small amount of his WD in with his diet and changed his rice to Basmati as its suppose to be healthier. So was using the the rest of Black Hawk for Sam and she started to itch like crazy. Could be timing as it rained and that does cause her allergies to play up but stopped it and after a few days her itching seems to have calmed down. All anti-cancer diets say no grains which is why it was suggested I try something like Black Hawk as its grain free but didn't agree with him and I noticed that is was making the other dog itchy as well so have canned it. mackiemad Posted August 18, 2015 Share Posted August 18, 2015 It isn't grain free, it has rice in it. It is corn and wheat free. My itchy dog has always done well on it but every dog is different. I wouldn't classify it as an anti cancer diet though - maybe try ivory coat or meals for mutts if you're looking for a grain free, Aussie kibble? It definitely says it's Grainfree!That's abit naughty Will look into the other brands.He use to have kibble when he was younger and from memory, he wouldn't eat it. But can always try again now. Sagittarian Posted August 18, 2015 Share Posted August 18, 2015 The anti cancer (or feeding dogs with cancer) approaches that our customers have taken over the years never included dry foods because of the processing involved. Ones that have been favoured have been BARF (either made at home following a proper outline) or the patties; Ziwipeak; or more recently Vets All Natural grainfree with fresh meat. All added supplements such as Vets All Natural Health Booster or Paws Multi or Active dog vitamins or similar. Much as I like Ivory Coat, for me the choice would have to be one of the above as any dry dog food has been cooked and that always removes not only vitamins and minerals but the natural antioxidants that fresh provides. I just had a look at it too and it looks like something Shock could eat (provided it doesn't contain rosemary or sage which I would have to confirm with them). I don't mind the others having oats but Shock's seizures reduced once I completely removed grains/gluten, soy and dairy from her diet.
