hip/elbow scores

So, not familiar with how to read these. Can some one please advise on this?

 

Scores are marked with double asterisks** all the way, with total ** marked for hips.  @sandgrubber?

Elbows right and left scored  0 each  all the way and UAP marked No.

 

Is that good? bad ? or somewhere between?

A photo would help.  I don't understand  the **.  UAP is a bad elbow condition.   No is what you want.  Both elbows 0 is excellent.

I'm with Sandgrubber, don't understand the ** It's usually a number from 0 upwards. But the elbows are excellent

Heres a picture of what I got, the asterisks I just don't understand. I can always ask the breeder, but they could tell me any thing and I'd be none the wiser if it was correct or not!

Does the report have a vet's or clinic's name on it, so you can ask them?

I couldn't find what ** might mean on a score, so I'm guessing it means "not done", not clear enough to read", "dog not old enough to score" or "results to follow" ?

Not a very professional way of saying it though. If they were using asterisks correctly there should be somewhere on the report to explain it eg " ** - not scored".

Do you think you have got the entire report, rather than part of it?

I would take that as meaning only the elbows were scored, not the hips.

Yes, the report looks complete in all other ways, stating the films, positioning dogs age etc. were all satisfactory and signed by the clinician. Might be my best option to contact the clinic.

i would read it as only elbows done .

From my experiences the reader will clearly right notes of any issues or poor films  ,placement etc etc .

O.K, my bad. The penhip was done separately, so not scored on that form. 

The Penhips for both parents -

Scores of 0.26/0.22, so reads 0.26 for sire,

Dam scored 0.20/0.18 so 0.20 

No cavitation or Oa detected in either.

Can't help you with that. I had sighthounds. 

I would be interested to know more though.

Different countries and some breeds have their own systems. Some have number scores and some have words (eg Very Good) or letter scores.

For your interest then. This one is pretty straight forward. I don't think we can reasonably expect better.

I've never used Pennhip so it's a bit double dutch to me but if you say it's good then I'm very happy for you!

All my Greyhounds for breeding had their hips and elbows scored. Coming from GSD it was 2nd nature for me.

Years ago I had to get X rays of my dog done as part of the contract for frozen semen from the USA. Vets here were surprised I was asking for it to be done. Here it was still the 0 - 106 (BVA?) scheme and there it was OFA which didn't have number scores, only word grades, so much discussion of translation of results from one scheme to the other.

I like how this is set out, very clear and knowing where it falls on the breed average is very useful too. Looks good to me, and the bitch scored even better.

One happy man keen to meet his dream dog, hes waited a long time and her breeder has put in a lot of effort to give a great foundation.
