Domination? Sounds just like what she would be doing with her furry littermates...they climb all over each other, and chew/mouth each other. :)All very normal, and to her..your young ones are now her littermates. She is a baby !

Ideas to stop this?

well... just a couple from me..

you can keep her in a separate area from them until you have taught her some basics...like sit ,'Off' ..etc.

You can provide her with lots of interactive toys..like a "kong", some various sized balls, which she can roll on, grab with her paws and chase.

You can also try here...

Yeah, watch your kids with her, when she gets rambunctious (which is normal) redirect her with a toy. She needs to learn to be gentle with the kids (and vice versa). Use baby gates to separate them when she's especially bouncy.

She is just being a normal puppy.

She may be trying to play with them but she is a dog and they (even though they are young) are people. Even though she may be playing she could be playing too roughly for a toddler. You need to make sure that the puppy knows that the kids are her leaders, not her littermates. Kids are ranked higher in the pack than the puppy!

If you can, get Cesar Millan's book "Cesar's Way" it's really helpful about how kids should act around dogs etc.

Puppies and Babies/Toddlers are tricky.

You need to train both and a lot of supervision and seperation is required.

This means a lot of hard work for you to ensure puppy has the right amount of stimulation/training/interaction and everyone is safe and happy.

Babies and Puppies don't "know" boundaries, they have to learn them...from you :mad

It's not safe for a 9 week old puppy to be around on the floor with young toddlers. Look into a playpen for the pup so she ca have space from the kids and you'll need to provide her with enriching activities whilst she's in there too. Stuffed kongs, rawhide chews, soft raw bones etc.

You can try spraying some bitter bite (can get it from the pet supplies) onto some socks to train her not to mouth socks.

But in essence, she is a baby, and just like your human babies, she is exploring the world with her mouth.

Have you enrolled her in puppy school yet? Having young children and dog means that the dog will need to be very well trained, and that is entirely up to you. Great dogs are made not born.

dont leave kids to tell a pup what to do, and dont let kids and pups just play together.

If the pup pulls the toddlers socks off were just standing there watching it? As soon as the pup went for the sock I would have taken it away and given it a toy to play with. Your pup thinks your kids can play like other puppies which nip each other, roll about etc. Pups dont understand so YOU as teh leader of the pack have to show the pup. When they play you be on the floor playing with them so as soon as your pup shows nippy behaviour you give it a time out. Also dont let the kids get too excitable with the pup or it will associate the kids with rough play.
