  2. I find the figures laughable considering a friend working for the rspca put more bodies in the incinerator in one day than quoted for a year's fatalies in greyhounds? Where is the fury for that? Even worse he discovered after already putting the majority in that a big one still had a pulse when picked up by the leg. Upon checking those still in the trolley every one over a certain weight all had a pulse. When he reported this, was told "Don't worry the Don't feel a thing, if we gave all the big ones a full dose we would go broke" He lost it and fled...was pretty hysterical by the time he came to see me. told me and said he can't go public as he had signed a document of non disclosure so gagged. I never told anyone at the time. Was too scared. No idea who did tell the papers but although printed and on the news nothing came of it.. Forget the year
  3. these two were found at the Macleay island Bowls club on July 26th, locals have concerns for the owner as the dogs seem well cared for Read the comments in this FB post https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14GnMCR9J6P/

  8. I’m getting my sweet 8-week-old Staffordshire puppy next week. I’ll be staying home with him the first week, and then I’m considering bringing him to the office with me once a week. I’m a university student working twice a week. I plan to work from home one day and go to the office the other day. 9apps tutuapp
  9. As long as humanely done (which I am sure it is), then I see no problem. One zoo in Australia(won't mention name in case some numnut hears about it) used to take horses (not sure if they still do). They came to your property, shot the horse there and removed it. I can tell you that if you saw a horse killed instantly by an expert when it is happily and quietly munching on hay, most would understand that it is a much better way to go than any alternative i know of.

  11. looks as if Liverpool Council has attempted to contact the owner LG https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CdCTZuAy1/ and https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1C8bRgQ45Z/ Well done @AndyK for getting the info out there
  12. I would be happy for my body to be fed to the local lions - Monarto Zoo - I hate the whole funeral ripoff business
  13. While it may appear shocking - I think their request is very sensible.
  14. I've just seen this AndyK. Did you find the owner? If you are on FB there are number great lost and found pet pages. I'm in the Logan ones but there would be at least one major one for the Calamvale area. The breed isn't super common so there would probably be a QLD breed page too.
  15. I heard a story of a tourist asking (in an African safari park?), why didn't they feed the lions a vegan diet? The tour guide replied that it was because there weren't enough vegans available.
  16. They probably wouldn't knock them back... The reality is that carnivorous animals need a constant supply of meat and it has to come from somewhere. Any means that reduces financial costs involved with that would be considered I would think. The fact that this zoo isn't candy coating that fact is commendable, if a little disturbing to our way of thinking. Would it surprise you to know that the farmyard section in many Australian zoos is not just there for visitors to enjoy domestic animals? Ever wondered what happens to excess piglets, goat kids, lambs, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc? Excess kangaroos and wallabies from the Australiana sections? Not that those sections make much of a dent in the overall feeding requirements for larger carnivores, but every little cost saving helps. Another fact to remember is that European zoos are run slightly differently to our zoos here, and they don't sugar coat the fact that their carnivores eat meat and it has to come from somewhere. The public killing, dissection, and consequent feeding of the young giraffe to the lions some years ago at another Danish zoo probably went too far, but only because they did it in public... the reality is that it was going to happen anyway, and they made the decision to show the public that aspect of their practices. It's interesting to watch people who think nothing of picking up a tray of meat from the supermarket for their own consumption getting all righteously indignant that carnivorous animals in zoos need a source of food too. Just putting it into perspective here. That tray of meat in the supermarket was once a living being too, yes? Are their deaths any less meaningful just because we don't see it happen? For the record, I eat meat, and know exactly where it has come from, but in knowing that, I also don't waste any of the meat that animal died to provide me with. T.
  17. Confronting stuff but everything eats something. For excess (too many to store/freeze) rabbit breeder wastage and cockerels it's better than people throwing them in the incinerator. Excess rats and mice often go to snake feeders anyway. Laboratories gas their excess guinea pigs etc. They couldn't be thinking of cats and dogs could they?
