Lhasa Apso pet puppies are still under $1000. But they do shed a little. Not on the floor or around the house, but my guys beds are all covered in their hair. So just a warning. Any rescue should be well under that price, just a matter of looking.

Scourban - Causing Constipation After Diarrhea
Rysup replied to giraffez's topic in General Dog Discussion
I had this but with Ensal (Ensul?). My little girl did not poop for 7 days!! She had the Ensal for 3 days max, and I stopped when we had no action. 7 days later she cleared out with a gigantic poo and then was back to her normal old self! She never once stopped eating, there was a LOT of BBQ chicken going in, and nothing coming out. I thought she might pop, but the vet told that as long as she wasnt trying to poo (straining) then I should not worry. -

A little Googling tells me that Venustus Great Danes are based in NSW. He's had the Riverwood added on the front when he imported them. You can do that in the USA. http://www.venustusgreatdanes.com.au/index1.html

Most of the numbers went in Sundays mail, I have a small bundle here that will go out today (those who entered last minute online, and a few Group 7s)

What Is The Best Kennel Disinfectant & Deodorant?
Rysup replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Delete is good but very expensive! At the moment I just use hospital grade disinfectant from Aldi. I am keen to try OdourGo though, ive read a lot of good stuff about that too! -
Sometimes you just have to do what is right for you. It sounds as if he is now making excuses, you cannot reject THAT many puppies!! I would just be saying to him, that you are going to be getting a bitch within the next 12 months, and that while you would like his approval, its not necessary, and that you have waited long enough. Just go out on your own and do it. If he is a good friend, and a reasonable one, he will be happy and encouraging to you. If he spits the dummy and tries to get vengeful, well at least you know where you stand.\ I've been in a slightly similar situation, except that I GOT a puppy from someone else, and my friend spat the dummy big time, and things went terribly sour, and now we have no contact, and I have blocked him in all the online avenues he has tried to contact me and threaten me. While I sometimes miss the friendship, I am glad I found out when I did what he was like. Better early on, than after 10 or 15 years in that breed. If your "mentor" cannot accept that you need to get a nice bitch from someone else, well really that is his problem, and I really suggest you move on NOW! If he chucks a spaz and does something that means you cannot show/breed with your current boys, at least you find out now, and not later.

I could put something together if you have no luck, cut and paste it all up and converting is pretty easy. If your first attempts fall through give me a yell.

People always make comments - we have Keeshond, Lhasa Apsos & American Staffordshire Terriers. Usually when I am showing the Amstaffs, people will say things like "Lacking a bit of coat that one" or "Colour is a bit wrong". Some seem shocked to see me with them - yet I have had them for about 8 or 9 years now, and shown them on and off in that time.

Well good news, 7 days later she pooed this morning. Not before time!
-
Thanks BoxerJim! I chatted to the vet at work today, and they said to give her another day or so and as long as she isnt straining it should be ok. I might try a bit of metamucil. She is still very happy and eating normally.
-
My little girl Daisy had gastro last week and on Wednesday the vet gave me antibiotics and Ensal. She told me to give the full coarse of the AB, and to only give the Ensal until I see a normal poo. Well the Ensal dried up the liquid poos, but now we have nothing! She has not pooed for 4 days now. She is eating and drinking (bland chicken & rice only) normal amounts. She is weeing fine. I will ring and talk to the vet tomorrow, but wondered if anyone had any experience with this. I stopped giving her the Ensal yesterday because I was worried it was blocking her up too much. Still no action today. Any ideas? Thanks!

Interesting Marketing By Well Known Dog Food Brand Name

Far out, I cried too. How awesome was that! -
Is your OH going to be home for her while you are in hospital? If she still has more good days than bad every week, then I would let her go a bit longer. But if the bad days are starting to out number the good, then possibly it is time to let her go. My two oldies here are almost 17 and 15. I take each week as it comes, and I know they will tell me when its there time.

You can show under the breeder of your dog, so long as they have not owned the dog for over 6 months. Whether you would choose to do so willingly is another question!
-
What is the RRP likely to be? One of the reasons I switched to BH was the good price! Not the only one of course, but if they bump it too much, I will have to go back to only feeding the youngsters on it.

Does This Look Bad, I Have A Show This Weekend?
Rysup replied to erinonthefarm's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
A bit of brown chalk, and I would show her. -
I've been working as a groomer on and off for the last 15 years or so. 5 years I worked on my own in a mobile business. The last 2 years I've worked for someone else in a salon. Working for yourself certainly earns you more income, but there are many more demands too. I am enjoying not having to maintain a business at the moment. I am only able to work school hours (9-2.30), and I work with another girl who is partially trained. The pay varies a lot as we are only in when there are bookings. We do some Saturdays which is time and a half, so when we do Saturdays we bring home a nice pay.

Why do people seem to think Oodles are easy care coats? The majority of the dogs we do at work would now be Oodles, and most of them are matted to the skin! And we have Labradoodles in ALL sizes, from Cav size up to Great Dane size.
-
And because some people CANNOT show under some judges. When you co-own dogs, or handle for others, you need to know these things.
-
Its not so much the proof, as you would have that, its that you would not be in the catalogue, which is a nightmare all its own for the show committee. I guess if you allowed email entries to be sent as well, then you have covered yourself well enough.

Kids Creche At Shows To Help Boost Entry Numbers
Rysup replied to just1more's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've trained mine. He knows he has to stay on his chair, under our gazebo while I am in the ring. But we always generally sit with people who can keep an eye on him. But now he is almost 7 he prefers to stay home with his father, so that suits me!! -
The majority of clubs in the NT allow you to direct deposit into the club's bank account. They provide the BSB and account number in the schedule, and they ask that you print out the receipt of transfer and send it in the envelope with your entries. This is a great idea and I wish clubs elsewhere would embrace it. Makes life so much easier for those without cheque books. The one club up in Darwin that didn't have direct deposit was the only reason I got a cheque book! That might be something I will suggest our clubs start doing. Not everyone wants to pay the extra fees for Ozentries. HOWEVER that will fall down if the mailed entries never arrive for some reason, yet you will have already paid. Sets a bit of a dangerous precedent?

I Think It's Nearly Time For Lilly
Rysup replied to Dog_Horse_Girl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have to very old dogs here, and we just take each day as it comes. Some days Holly bounces out of her bed in the mornings, and then I've had mornings where I've had to carry her out. But while she eats and toilets and is happy to potter about, then I am happy for her to do that. Holly is 15. Andre never seems to change. He eats, sleeps and poops. He is almost 17. Sending Lily my best wishes, do not stress about not being able to spend a fortune on her. Just be there for her until its her time.
