  1. She's nuts! One baby is hard enough, but two babies and two puppies.......no way! I would not do it!!
  2. Pretty sure its a general. My Lhasa had to have hers pulled, all four. My Kees puppy was close but I gave him some really hard chews and they came out. The Lhasa was under $100 but that was ohhhh 6 years ago now!
  3. My 14 1/2 year old is in a similar place. But just when I think it IS her time, the very next morning she bounds out of bed like there is no tomorrow. So she has her up days and her down days. There will come a time, when the up days stop. When that happens, then I will know. My almost 16 year old fellow though, is going great guns. He is happy to potter around, sleep and eat, but if you dare disturb his routine, he will complain loudly. He cannot see much, is going deaf, but he has the bladder of an elephant, and its strong as an ox. God bless him.
  4. I give our Amstaff puppy plastic juice bottles before they go in the recycling, she squashes them for me. She has destroyed every single toy I have given to her, except the black kong.
  5. Vast majority of my dogs are debarked - none are silent. I would not like a silent dog, we had one stay with us once, and if she got into trouble you never knew, because you could not hear her. The dogs know no differently, they still bark, and live normal lives. I do not see the issue? It keeps my neighbours happy, it keeps my OH happy. Win win really. I now have a few dogs who are not debarked, and life is going to get very difficult now we cannot do it without a council order. And THAT I try to avoid at all costs, I do not want council & the RSPCA noising around in my business!!!!!!!
  6. I dont think it is coincidence - I had two bitches who were best friends, but when I had a litter with one, that was the catalyst for them becoming mortal enemies. Never did they get to enjoy each others company again! (well without bloody battles to the death) After enduring the pains of keeping them apart for a number of years, I retired one of them to a pet home with a lovely lady who spoils her rotten. Something to do with the hormones maybe? In your case the sudden lack of? I dont know but big changes sometimes seem to spur these things into action.
  7. My dogs get their puppy shots, a booster after 12 months and that is all. I have a 16 year old, and 14 year old who both have had this regime, so I have been doing it a long time now. The 16 year old was the catalyst for this- he had terrible reactions to vaccines, so I decided enough was enough and have never looked back.
  8. Great to hear biglib! The cream is my cure all........it works a real treat.
  9. Warm bath, blow dry with high velocity dryer and then Furminator!
  10. Another vote for Comfortis here. I dont use anything for ticks.
  11. I've never let another dog or bitch in with a litter. They are always separated, at least by a baby gate or puppy pen at the very least.
  12. I think its a Vic thing! I would not staple them ,each secretary/cataloguer has their own methods and having to remove staples to re-order entry forms is a pain. When I do a show, the entry forms are put into breed & class order and attached to the SAE, so that the numbers make it back into the envelopes easily. No form is removed from an envelope until the corresponding number is put inside.
  13. None. It's either too tight and rubbing, or an allergy..........try making it looser so it hangs a bit.
  14. You should be able to find the schedule on Ozentries......down the bottom in the Closed Shows part.
  15. I have a cordless clipper with adjustable blade that I use for feet now. Its awesome! I can get right in between the toes of dogs that get matts, and it gives a really neat finish.
  16. I dont normally get the quick, and I do a LOT of nails at work, but the other week I did get the quick on my Lhasa girl. Stopped it easily enough with the styptic powder, then put her on the table while I did other things. She likes to rub and be a spaz on the table, well I turned back and there was blood everywhere! She was digging, and of course started the blood flow back up and it was all over her, the table.......yikes, what a mess! She had fun though!
  17. I've used Closasol for years with no problems. I will occasionally get a different brand in, but for the 3 monthly worming I just stick with the Closasol.
  18. I rarely have to cut nails here, but they get checked when they get groomed. At work (groomer) we charge $10 to do just nails and see quite a few people. A lot of people are scared to do them.
  19. If it is in the armpits........it possibly is a fungal skin infection. Our Amstaff gets it, I am currently treating him for it, as the conditions have been perfect for it. Go to the pharmacy and buy a tube of Clonea Anti-Fungal Skin Cream. Wash the dog, and dry the area well. Apply twice a day at least. You will see marked improvement in about 2-3 days but must keep treating for 2 weeks. It works!!
  20. Well I just fill out the entry form as per the paperwork and sign "per *my name*". I only ever put my name on the SAE. I enter a dog for someone else almost every show. Never had a problem and never had anyone suggest I need a separate envelope for the "other" entry! As a cataloguer I would not expect a separate one either.
  21. Isle of Dogs Replascents are GORGEOUS! We use them at work.
  22. Rysup is my kennel prefix. Pronounced Rise-Up, no special meaning other than my foundation bitch was a Rymiska puppy.
  23. We get a dog sitter in. I have a friend who will come and do the dogs twice a day. No way I could afford to kennel my lot!!
  24. I've got Liberty's which are fine, but if you are after a blaster I'd go either Ezycoats or Pupkus. I have both at work. I like the Pupkus as its adjustable in speed and heat (though there are lesser models I am sure). The Ezycoats are also great blasters, some have High & Low settings, some have on or off only.
  25. When people ask how many dogs we have, the initial answer may shock. But what they fail to ask is what that number involves. I have dogs ranging in age from almost 16 years to 12 weeks. They certainly are not all breeding animals, and I would rather people asked me how often I breed (which averages out about once ever 5 years!)
