Lovely round again with Soggy Ptolomy I might have to join you at the bootcamp Ness

How is Zoey this morning? I hope she is ok. Such a sad little face.
-
Bugger a bit far to visit my produce shop in Lilydale Send GayleK a PM as she is in Gippsland and might know of a Nutro supplier. The dry food I feed mine in run-out emergencies is Nature's Gift Semi moist. Available from supermarkets. But like I send mine are used to diet changes.

Yeah I think it is the brewers yeast that is causing my dog problems.
-
And yikes I made a big typo in my other post. I prefer Black Hawk ingredients to Canidae. Fixed now.
-
I always just change straight from one food to another with no problems. This is always with super premium foods. I wouldn't go say Pal - super premium. Whereabouts are you at the moment and people might know places to buy food?

Looking at the ingredients of the Lamb & Rice Canidae I wouldn't feed it over Black Hawk. Wound probably choose Nutro over the Canidae too.

Fish Based Kibble... No Chicken Or Beef?

ZiwiPeak is supposed to be a top food. Haven't really heard anything negative about it. Can you not buy the Eagle Pack online? My little itchy dog does well on Eagle Pack Holistic as well. -
Training When You Have More Than One Dog
JulesP replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Mine sit and watch quietly but I do take the dog being trained out the front. If I tried heeling with them all loose I would have 3 trying to heel at once! The ones waiting tend to join in on the stay which is pretty cute. Poppy at herding is a nightmare though if I have more than one dog. She finds that very offensive. -
Lol TSD I am from a horsey background and constantly got harassed about competing then too. I didn't enjoy competing then either. Had my riding horse trained up to a pretty high level. I did compete and win in the highest levels of showing, tried the whole dips, biscuits, wine thing and always loved going much more minus the pony. I just got talked into selling my last pony because I was 'wasting' him. He seemed pretty happy plodding around eating and being patted. I do really enjoy training and have been avoiding going the last couple of weeks as I know I will be asked about my entries. Sigh.

I always have a heaps better time if I go without the animals I even prefer working at comps to competing.
-
This might be a strange question.... Tassie, Bedazzled & Ptolomy - did you still enjoy the trials?

Try feeding fresh chunkers/4 legs first or a different treat. Personally I like to use those foods within 2 days. They get pretty stinky after that.

Fish Based Kibble... No Chicken Or Beef?

Do you think the person meant ProPlan Sensitive Skin? That is salmon based. There used to be a un-named fat in it. The recipes have just changed as they are now made in Australia so not sure about the ingredients. California Natural do one but that depends on how you feel about Pets Paradise as they import it. Theirs is Herring and Sweet Potato. -
I have both EP Holistic and Holistic Lamb & Rice here at the moment. The EP is bigger. I haven't had a problem with the size of the Holistic Lamb & Rice though. My younger dog does appear to have allergies issues with the Holistic Lamb and Rice though. Looking at the ingredients on both foods it looks like it is either the brewers yeast or the fish meal.

And he also started selling those patties. Can't say I agree with all his amendments. mushka at the end of the day feed your dog what it does best on. That might not be what you think is best either, lol.
-
Can't think of any. There are 'nicer' grains like rice & oats in some Aussie made products. My view is don't worry about the grains unless you have a dog that is allergic to that grain. The Barf book has a oat meal in it too.

Do you own APFE Distributors Sherel?

Was that the lady with the heeler? I had a lady watch his whole routine and made me so nervous Yay - go the Tailed Aussies eh Wuffles No she has a Belgian Shep, we were at a discrete distance

I don't think any soft crate will withstand any determination to get out. Poppy (who is crate trained) found it offensive to be in the crate at the last herding clinic I did and she ripped the mesh and the canvas along the bottom of a K9 Soft Crate. Not the crates fault.

A friend of mine saw Leo in the ring on Sunday LP and was super impressed.

Do you want to keep this dog? I've had heaps of physical issues (due to horse riding accidents) and at no stage have i considered rehoming the dogs. BUT my dogs do have a good recall and I have just hobbled out into my paddock and let them run around. That combined with obedience work has kept my border collies happy when I haven't been able to walk far. What is the long term prognosis for your knee? If it is going to be on going I would rethink the herding. You are likely to get the sheep running into you, especially at the beginning, if you use dogged sheep. They like being close to the human. If you got the dog just to do herding I would rehome. There is an inspirational lady in Victoria that does agility with her kelpie. She can't walk well and basically stands in the middle of the agility course and directs that kelpie around. It is super to watch.

I can conclude that NG has more meat than rice as they actually list the percentage of meat - 70%.
-
NG smells like casserole. I'm a vego and it smells quite tasty. lol. NG has been part (note part) of my dogs diet for over 20 years. I tend to use it if I've forgotten to defrost meat/bones. I've tried (not personally!!) some expensive tinned food and prefer the NG. Never had tummy problems with it either but have with some expensive brands. They are a smallish Aussie company too which I like.

If I had to feed either canned or dry only I would pick dry for the simple fact they get to chew. Dry also tends to contain more stuff, which could be good or bad! No soy products in my canned food of choice - Nature's Gift. The chicken one contains: * 70% Real Chicken (contains no red meat) * Rice * Vegetables As for the water content argument - fresh meat contains water. If you want to avoid water than you need to feed meat meal.
