  1. I use mine at comps & training. In the car. Amber likes to sleep in one overnight. Good for when you go away for dogs to sleep in. My other use is that my cats also love sleeping in them!
  2. I think the minimum lead length is 75cm. However I would suggest getting one at least a meter long as you are now required to stand at least 75cm away from the dog in the SFE and you don't want to be pulling the dog with a short lead.
  3. Same rules here. I am sure they would all like to be on the couch if allowed and I can just see the sad little eyes if one is allowed up and the others aren't.
  4. Sable is a masking gene too Amber is black I assume as her pigmentation is really dark. There was a blue sable in the litter before Amber's.
  5. No logical reason. The whole border collie colour is fairly stupid with what they allow and don't allow. Maybe some people think it is ok but there is really no reason for why heaps of colours have been left out. No health issues that I found with sables. The only thing you would need to watch for is a sable merle. It would be really hard to see the merle on a shaded sable and impossible on a clear sable. So mating any sable to a merle would be a bad idea. Thanks tollersowned :D Amber is kind-of Toller colour at the moment but I am expecting her to get more black hairs as she gets older.
  6. Would there be more smells at a trial to get her worried that she has the correct thing?
  7. My dogs are registered with ANKC and the two video dogs are also registered in the The Kennel Club in the UK. So not sure what you are talking about. Sorry if you do not enjoy seeing border collies do what they are suppose to do, work sheep and work sheep in ISDS trials which is the standard of work and the founding registry for the breed. Do you show your tris then? Go back and read my post I was not talking about tris in the show ring, did not mention the show ring at all. Got it? I will try again, I was talking about tris in the general population of border collies around the world and most importantly about tris at some of the best sheepdog trials in the world. Isn't it lovely to see them working to the standard for the breed. My goodness they are a wonderful and talented breed. You go back and read Dancinbcs post then as she was saying she wanted a SHOW tri. Stop trolling.

  9. Ok, I'll revise my description of a shaded sable to say that MOST of the hairs are banded red and black, with red at the base and black on the tips in varying amounts.
  10. Amber actually has hairs that are totally red, some that are totally black, some that are tipped and some that are banded! People initially think she is red and then when they have a closer look they see the black and realize she is sable.
  11. Can Murphy come in and sleep with Lucca? I normally have the pup in the crate and the bigger dog loose. For some reason this night time exposure really seems to help the bonding. My older dogs have always been very gentle with the new editions so it has been a matter of days before they are all hanging out together. The usual method of play is for the big dogs to lay on their backs whilst the pups jump all over them.
  12. I would maybe rethink the inside dog bit My dogs are outside during the day, come in during the evening and go out again. When inside they have to stay on their blankets. This doesn't cause me too much angst. They are border collies. I sat in a friend's house the other day that has an inside dog and my eyes were killing me by the time I left. Weirdly only one of my borders gives me itchies from her saliva. She is the sable one. Interestingly I had the same thing with horses. Certain colours made me itch.
  13. Brock is in a large K9 soft crate. The girls fit in the M/L.
  14. Is there any reason behind this? I plan on giving CCD a crack in a couple of months, just fine tuning a few smaller points like drop position before I do, so interesting to learn about what the CCD judges are currently doing. Yep the wording changed to read "at least twelve (12) metres away". So some are doing really long distances.
  15. Bad luck Wuffles. I've heard that the CCD judges are doing mega long recalls since the rule change. Good luck Sue & Cindy!
  16. Good on you for thinking about keeping your new puppy safe
  17. The original question isn't actually a cross-post as twodoggies2001 isn't asking about repricing puppies. I am assuming that post in BC made them wonder about pricing in general. When I had a litter of pups I simply charged what the going rate was for my breed. There wasn't much variation in price then. A breeder can charge whatever they like for a puppy and it is up to the buyer to decide if they want to pay.
  18. A friend uses a fence like this and thinks it is great. He doesn't even have a physical fence, just the electronic one. Most of the comments I've heard about them are fairly positive. You seem to get the odd dog that they don't work for. Not sure what age you can train a puppy. K9 Pro sells them so you could drop him a PM. My fences are only about rib height, normal farm fence height and they keep my border collies in. It doesn't seem to occur to them that they should get out.
  19. I wonder if texture has anything to do with it? Amber seems funny about really sloppy/sticky food. She sort of draws her lips back and tries to eat it without getting it on her muzzle.
  20. Looks pretty relaxed. I think Corvus said she didn't mind if her dogs changed position as long as they were calm.
  21. my dog kind of looks like these in a stationery position I think I need to be more fussy Love it Vickie
