  1. My dogs had always done just that bit better on Proplan (Sensitive skin or performance) then on Holistic Select. I used to rotate the products though. No major problems with the HS I just felt they had nicer coats on the Proplan. Now I am having allergy issues with one of the dogs and she can't have Proplan at all. Am trying HS Duck again but it is looking a bit dodgy.
  2. Pretend to be someone else in the ring. I even get nervous going into the practice ring at club and would go totally blank. One Sunday I had been on here before club and had watched one of Rubystar's videos. I had liked her handling. As I stood at the post shaking I thought about the video and off I went and was fine! After that I just thought Rubystar and would settle down. Unfortunately I get super nervous from the moment I enter the trial and lost about 4 kgs leading up to the last trial I entered. I am currently contemplating whether it is all worth it. I love training to trial standard but not the competing. Brock and Poppy could both easily do Novice agility too. I had the same problem with horse stuff too. But I could also get up and give a speech in front of hundreds of people.
  3. I stood at the start peg and thought about the people on this thread :D
  4. Ah so you've ordered from them before (Pet With Pet Care)? Good to know they aren't one of those typical dodgy online companies that advertise decent priced products then don't send them, and their number is conveniently disconnected The website advertises free shipping on some products, don't suppose you know if that includes to Australia? I changed the country in the PayPal checkout screen and it still said free so it might be I did email them though to double check, just waiting on a response. No I got it from Petstock so didn't order directly from them.
  5. I wouldn't mind one of those. Poppy jumped into my front seat on the weekend during herding and pretty much put mud on every available surface. It had to be seen to be believed! I have a dog ramp from those people and it is pretty good.
  6. How about this net? http://www.milfordind.com.au/index.php/selectedContent/348543509?currentDriven=546670323&currentContent=301266517&PHPSESSID=6c54a8fa5b8e4b579cb2812a29e0646c Fairly sure The Spotted Devil has this one.
  7. I would definitely do this. I am lucky in that I can get weekly ring work if I want and I shovel treats in. I want the dogs to have high value for going in the ring.
  8. Maybe Ness just needed a break not retirement
  9. She might also have been in a crate when you heard her crying.
  10. My borders don't tend to go for the munch either. They try and get the critter to run and then have fun stopping it from running. Most critters are fine but a bit soggy when I rescue them. I've watched Brock carry critters into the middle of the garden to start the game again. Not sure the ringtail possums would survive though as the dogs really seem to hate them. Something to do with the possums liking to dangle just out of reach
  11. Where has everyone gone??? Did more Open work today. Did the worst throw ever over the jump it landed heaps off to the side. Poppy was very good though and jumped the jump, found it, had a bit of a think but jumped back over the jump. Good girl. Her heeling was pretty crap which is usual after a days herding. COP was very nice. DOR was a good splat but gee she is going to anticipate it. I don't train it at home at all, but after one DOR we did a straight recall and she anticipated. The other 2 dogs were good as well. After herding yesterday and obedience today they better be feeling pretty mellow because I am buggered!
  12. Got something approaching square flanks with Poppy today! Woooohoooooo!!!! Was very pleased with her today. Amber on the other hand doesn't want a bar of the sheep. Don't know what is going on. A judge watched her at about 6 months old and said she would have given her a HT pass. She did get head butted by a sheep and since then she just doesn't want to do it. Put her in with Poppy today and she did chase the sheep but it was chasing, no herding. She still herds me, the other dogs and her best doggie friend. Any words of wisdom?
  13. The test is heel on lead with all positions and turns, stand for exam, recall, sit, stand & drop stays, distance control, food refusal, a trick, walking around other dogs.
  14. Croydon Dog Obedience Club has a positive only training philosophy. No check chains. We have really good people helping in our trial ring for obedience. Our agility program is also really good, with lots of Croydon people doing very well in trials. To get into agility you need to pass our basic obedience test or have a trial pass. The clubs sound great but as people have said they are hard to get in to.
  15. Great news Hope Koda continues to do well.
  16. Frenzied1 if you liked Advance you could try Optimum. Plenty of people are very happily feeding that.
  17. I find Barf very expensive, I have four dogs and have tried to give them Barf but its out of my price range. Homemade BARF not the patties isn't too bad. How do you make your home made Barf? If you don't mind me asking When I fed only BARF I used Dr Billinghurst's book 'Give the Dog a Bone'. Lots of people seem to make up their own patties now. So mince, offal, eggs, kelp, oil etc. You can usually pick up minced chicken frames for around $2 a kilo. Lots of meaty bones too.

  19. OMG. My pony will be in the house tonight! What a horrible thing to happen. Poor pony.
  20. Uncle Albers does have wheat in it. It caused issues with my dogs. BH caused a rash due to the brewers yeast. I am currently using Supercoat Sensitive and that is going well so far. It is only available in 3.5kg bags at $14 so isn't actually super cheap. You could just try adding some oil to the Uncle Albers and see if that helps at all. BH is around $75 for 20kilos + delivery.
  21. Whilst I am not competing much I was doing a full ring run through each weekend. I find Poppy heaps better with only a couple of days a week training. I've reduced the weekend run throughs I do too.
  22. Thanks for that, just had a quick peek at their site. I will give them a call tomorrow morning we might even drop in if they are ok with that. I'm an instructor at Croydon. Just drop in if you want to have a look around. You can pick up enrollment forms etc.
