  1. Again I understand and sympathize. It might not feel like it now but the pain does ease. The horror of it starts to fade and you start remembering good things about the pet and whilst you might cry, you also smile at the memory.
  2. Yep use it. Use the Duck one. If anything I would say the feed seems fresher now. I also use the cat version.
  3. OMG I am so sorry. Obviously I know just how you feel.
  4. This was one of my funniest 'help me' moments. I meanly took a photo first
  5. Yep I am usually required to help. I also find that the dogs will come and get me if a dog, cat or pony needs assistance. Poppy the last 2 mornings has woken me up because Amber has wanted to go out!
  6. Not only does the breeder get updates from me but I also tell the big things (titles etc) to the people that bred the parents :D If the response from the grand-breeders is positive then I continue with the updates.
  7. I just think the newbie breeder needs some people willing to guide and help them. I didn't show (did obedience), didn't spend years researching etc I just approached my breed club for help, which I was given freely. As well as the breed club, I was helped by the stud dog owner and by one of the people that booked a puppy. I have no doubt I would have been on here asking all sorts of questions! That is what the forum is for. It is about exchange of info.
  8. I normally have my treats on the side but I would just move the belt so the treats were where I wanted them. I have a treat bag with a draw string and don't find that as easy as the metal Black Dog treat bag opening.
  9. lol. I love my walkie belts. I would like a bigger zipped area too as the newer smart phones are a struggle to fit in. I would like a treat bag that could be clipped on to the walkie belt.
  10. Congrats Wuffles and Murve My drop is back but today's 'wtf' moment was Poppy doing a right about turn on the callers command! I've had to be careful with sits and drops etc but she hasn't turned before on the judges command.
  11. Your dog's breed wouldn't be written in the comp books. It would also knock out some restricted to group trials. That may knock out a lot of trials depending on what group your dog is in. There seem to be quite a few restricted trials for border collies for instance - restricted to Border Collie, restricted to Scottish Breed and Restricted to Working Group comps.
  12. We currently have 2 comp grounds. One of the grounds is the sheep's 'home' ground. I wouldn't say the sheep learn the course though. Not that we do trial run throughs much anymore. I haven't seen the obstacles set up for ages. My dog appears to have learnt the course though
  13. I don't discuss my dog's health with the vet nurse. Whilst I listen to the breeders opinion I don't take their view as gospel either. I wouldn't be using a vet who wasn't willing to discuss the options with me either. I was very happy with the chat I had with my new vet about injections. It was all very respectful. In 20+ years of dog ownership I have never had the KC part of the injections forced on me though. I've always been asked if I want it.
  14. Brock was a favorite pretty much everywhere Gayle. I had a line of people that wanted to steal him. Still feeling very shell shocked and very anxious if I see the girls eating stuff. I think I am going to have to give walking in the paddocks a miss for a while. The girls however have really picked up. They have been playing together today for the first time. Poppy is currently rolling around on her back whilst Amber kills her.
  15. Supercoat Sensitive is wheat free. Eagle Pack Holisitic is also wheat free. Artemis also have grain free products. So lots of choice.
  16. My dogs are a little shy about doing their business on lead so a yard for toileting would be good. Apart from the that a veranda would be fine as mine spend the whole day on the veranda as it is (their choice).
  17. Nothing to do with being elitist. It is a desire to stop the dogs ending up in the pound in the first place. A desire to stop puppy farmers and BYB.
  18. They get two chances to learn from their "mistake" in Qld now. I do know people that always buy oodles. That shits me. IMO people shouldn't be allowed to buy multiple cross breds and compete in dog sports run under a kennel club umbrella. Again I don't have issues with rescue dogs. So apart from changing things to allow rescue dogs I think QLD have got it right.
  19. I understand why Oodlers shouldn't be permitted to show/breed etc but I don't see anything wrong with someone with a crossbreed (oodle or not), participating in dog sports like obedience, agility, fly ball etc. I know a lot of people with crossbreeds who compete and do quite well - ranging from Kelpie crosses through to Labrador/Poodles, Cavalier King Charles/Poodles etc ... If people are willing to put in the hard work it takes to progress in these sports, I don't see why there is any problem with them participating - I thought training was always a good thing. The sports are run by the Kennel club. Why would the Kennel club want to promote cross bred dogs? You don't have to compete to train your dog either. I'm finding this a rather weird view point considering the aims of this forum.
  20. I have an oodle that I got from a shelter, and I also have a JRT x from a shelter. I had hoped to trial with both of them, but if I register them it means I can never again compete with a shelter dog, and I WAS planning on getting shelter dogs in the future as well. But now it seems the options are to either get a shelter dog, OR be able to trial. How is that fair? I already said that it sucks for rescue people and that there should be a clause in there for them. It doesn't suck for people that buy multiple dogs from puppy farms though. Or are you ok with people buying and registering oodle after oodle?
  21. It does stop people registering heaps of oodles though which is not a bad thing.
  22. Sucks a bit for people that rescue. Maybe they need a proof of rescue before registering.
  23. But have you fixed it again ;) I will now I know it is broken and not just a once off 'why did she do that' thing!
