  1. Amber has food allergies. She reacts to wandering jew as well but I think that is more of an irritant than allergy as most dogs seem to react to it. I haven't done enough research on whether it is inherited to decide to desex her on this issue.
  2. I might be imagining it but the product seems fresher since the change of owners.
  3. Well I think you do need to find an instructor that uses methods you are comfortable with. So the person needs to do some research first. I wouldn't trust any professional until they had earnt that trust.
  4. I think it is up to the individual to decide their own truth. I also think it is fairly pointless to try and debate stuff like this as both sides just end up talking at the other. No one is going to change their mind. The most you can hope for is that respect for other people's opinions is achieved. Do I think prong collars should be banned? Well I am not really into banning and rules in general. So no. Will I ever use one? I hope not. Will any of my pupils need to use one? I really hope not.
  5. I'm in Vic and never had a problem getting it. Dogs are going better on the Supercoat Sensitive though. Amber is OK on the Duck Holistic but I still get some scratching and redness.
  6. It was a very positive experience ;)
  7. I've already said I wouldn't use a prong collar (and no I am not going to debate that) but I have also been to a K9Pro seminar and tried to get a training session on another occasion. I always suggest K9Pro to NSW friends that are having dog problems. So not being a fan of prong collars does not mean that you can't be a fan of K9Pro.
  8. You might want to take the pup to the vet for a check up. Border collies are pretty tough little critters and if he squealed like that he might be hurt. They do tend to carry on even when injured.
  9. Well actually I consider myself pretty well educated about them and I wouldn't use one. Not something I say much on this forum as it usually results in some unpleasant comments from certain people. Some things I prefer not to discuss on forums - politics, religion and prong collars!
  10. Not even slightly acceptable for any business. Natures Gift dog foods spent ages on the phone with me answering all sorts of questions. 4legs have also been most polite in correspondence.
  11. I lost about 4kg because I had such an upset stomach
  12. I wouldn't assume she has been abused by her behavior. They can be a nervy breed.
  13. This is a really scary disease. So far I think we have been really lucky that more people haven't died. A similar virus, Nipah virus, killed over 100 people and a million pigs had to be put down in one outbreak. RIP Dusty.
  14. Well done Seita & Ella. Huge achievement! :cheer: :champagne:
  15. My cats are evil They trashed the kitchen too, flour all over the place but I can't find the photo.
  16. I'm not in a stock area so not sure if the land owners here would bait. No sheep farmers around. The free range chicken place near here has Mareemas so they must be into more natural methods. I had a live chicken dropped on my lawn a couple of weeks ago.
  17. My cats have caused more destruction than the dogs but I'll share this one of Fern as I love the smug look on her face. The cats did this. I thought I had been burgled!
  18. I'm sorry Rozzie I found a post of yours from years ago last night saying that and totally freaked out.
  19. Thanks for the muzzle idea Pers. The meat was under a bush so probably put there by a fox. I've found some pretty disgusting things in the past out in the paddocks. I really need to move. One of the houses I like is vacant and I am very close to asking if I can rent it whilst I sell here.
  20. I am very anxious about the dogs after what happened with Brock. I was a fairly anxious owner before as it was. Does this anxiety fade? Yesterday in the paddock Poppy licked a lump of meat and I pretty much had hysterics all night. I don't think I can take them out in the paddocks anymore as I get really stressed out. Get stressed if they are off lead anywhere and they go out of sight into bushes etc. I am constantly checking on them too. I know I have to give them quality of life and can't keep them wrapped in cotton wool.
  21. Why is it impressive that it was a Rottie? They are a herding breed after all. Sorry but it has been one of my pet peeves that everyone is "OMG a rotti herding". A non herding breed would be an OMG moment. All the Rotties have been nice workers that I have seen. Sherlot I have been to comps and have pretty much had the only border collie there! Lots of variety of dogs in Victoria doing herding.
  22. Oh well if he doesn't make them still I'm sure Sway can get one from K9Pro
  23. I didn't enter Piper. Not competing at the moment as Poppy isn't ready for Intermediate. Yeah I think one of the Rottis got herding champ and high in trial.
