People have such different ideas of what quiet etc is too. My quiet might not be someone else's. Then there is the effect of the owner. I am quiet and all my dogs have been pretty calm. So get a dog that has a pretty colour . Joking! Still need more info from the OP though. What size dog etc.

Not your fault at all. Glad you are ok. I can see your partners point if you had some bleeding the last time. Can he go with you? Or can someone else? ETA: I thought about a stronger control method but am concerned about the potential for you to get knocked over still.

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?JulesP replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming Since this thread first started I've actually started Amber on a food I haven't mentioned - Supercoat Sensitive. Yes, supercoat! I'm quite embarrassed buying it after all the expensive foods but it is the food she is doing the best on. Not sure if you have tried it Erny? It does have beef tallow which may be an issue but seems clear of other problem ingredients. Rice and Sorghum, poultry meat, beef tallow, real salmon and tuna, beet pulp, iodised salt, vitamins (A, D, E, K, B1, B6, niacin, riboflavin, folic acid, choline, biotin, B12) and trace minerals (iron, zinc, copper manganese), mixed natural tocopherols (vitamin E), rosemary plant extract, lutein, whole linseeds, garlic and kelp. I think it is quite good as it has a pretty small ingredient list, a plus with allergy dogs I reckon.

I should probably get a WL border collie but I do prefer the ANKC ones. The dogs are pets first here. To be honest I only do dog sports because of the breed I have. I wouldn't do sports if the dogs didn't like it and get something out of it.

Actually Vickie unless you know Skip we have not enough info to decide on their capabilities. I would say that they aren't super knowledgeable anyhow or they wouldn't be asking this question. Without more info it would be irresponsible to respond to the question. And this question seems to be asked a heap lately. Which I personally find disturbing. Get a dog that suits you and your lifestyle and then go from there. Maybe a daccy isn't a great choice for agility but anything from a Pap to a Rottie may suit.

What if you decide you want to do herding then and get a kelpie that will not herd at all? Are you prepared to keep rehoming dogs until you get your star? I just don't think it is the right way to go about things for the average owner.

I don't like the buying a dog for sport concept. A dog is not a piece of sporting equipment. Buy a dog that suits you and then see how you go with sports. You could buy the most on paper perfect dog and it may still not like sports. I've had 4 border collies so far that would never be super competitive at agility! So what sort of dog are you looking for? size? temperament? How big are your other dogs? How much walking to they get?

Sorry you had that experience. The Pro Plan reps I've spoken to were quite open about the fact the formula was changing. It is now being made in Australia and some of the ingredients in the original formula were not as easy to get here.

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?JulesP replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming Glad you are having success Erny. It is so individual though as Amber is allergic to Black Hawk, fairly sure it is the brewers yeast in it. I used coconut oil on my own head to repair my scalp after a nasty allergic reaction to shampoo. It is great as a leave-in treatment. I might try feeding it to Amber as I am having trouble with oils too with her.

She sounds exactly like Amber. I swear she eats kibble one piece at a time, with lots of walking off in between. I have to stand outside too to make sure she eats it all and not Poppy. Amber looks quite immature too and gets mistaken for a puppy a fair bit. Putting stuff on the kibble didn't really work. Blood was the most successful. Amber has stacks of energy though and a shiny coat and bright eyes.

I always buy treats and biscuits when I see them at markets. I like a decent sized bag, a bag of 5 biscuits isn't going to last long My dogs aren't fussy but I would get excited over wheat free. Treats need to be little or easily breakable. Look for markets were dogs are welcome and have a tasting table. You will get lots of customers. A lady that used to do this would sell out each market. She used to do liver cake too which was very popular.

Actually Harper I post with my very own, real name. So I am not hiding anything. I said quite clearly that I was concerned about you but if you choose to be hysterical then I guess that is up to you. You have just been far nastier to me then I was to you. Have a nice life.

Harper I think therapy is needed but I think it is you that needs it. I am honestly quite concerned about you and am not trying to be mean. If you aren't seeing a therapist I suggest that you think about it. You don't need to reply with any personal details btw.

Amber started her food issues during her first season. She got really fussy, especially with kibble. Bones got gobbled still. She did lose a fair bit of weight and it has been a struggle to get it back on. The vet couldn't find anything wrong. She is super fussy. She likes bones and beef mince. Not keen on chicken mince. Refused to touch rabbit. Not a fan of tinned food (NG) or sardines. Can only get her to eat a small amount of kibble. All veggies are spat out. I'm getting her desexed soon so it will be interesting to see if her appetite improves.

That is a great idea Sir WJ I am concerned about the potential for a human accident too. Bloody lucky there wasn't one yesterday with the pony.

There isn't a side. The dog is crossing the rather scary road to get to my place.

My neighbors don't have fencing. We are on a bend and it is a 80km speed limit. Despite me asking them to keep their last dog off my property they did nothing. I considered taking it to the pound but could never get near it. It came across every morning and would piss on my bins and freak my dogs out. I basically decided to out live it and it finally passed of old age. They got a new pup. With a couple of months pup got run over on the road and broke its leg. They thought that might keep the pup off the road. Nope I took it back a couple of weeks ago and told it was on the road. A friend of mine was on my front lawn today loading her very pregnant mare into a float. She has told me that the dog was running around my lawn barking at her. The owners were outside They just kept calling her back but didn't contain her. Apart from not wanting the dog on my property, I really don't want to drive home and find it squashed on the road. They had a squashed fox on their front lawn the other day and I felt sick when I went across to see what it was. It is a little dog. Apart from the possibility of it scaring the pony enough to cause an accident it can't do any damage over here. No ponies now. So the danger is only to itself now. I am pretty much their only neighbor. What would you do in this situation? If I complain to council they are going to know it was me.

Amber is weird with weeing at night too. She will be fine for a week and then might go 2 nights in a row and then fine again. I set my alarm last night for 3am and also got up at 12. She was not an impressed dog about being put out for weeing and did not want to go at all at 6.00am. I had intended to take a wee sample to the vet this morning but after 30 mins outside in my jammies I gave up! She has no other symptoms. Surely some dogs just need to wee in the night?? I know I often need to get up

How Do You Deal With How Other Ppl "discipline" Your Dogs?JulesP replied to BC Love's topic in General Dog Discussion Hell yes! same Me too! Learnt from a bad experience after some vile child scared one of my dogs with a laser stick thingo. I failed to protect once, never again.

I *think* my neighbors have finally built a yard for their dog. It got run over as a puppy and they thought that would stop it from leaving the garden, interesting training idea. I rescued it from the road a couple of weeks ago. I so don't want to drive home and find it squashed. I think I can see a new fence now. When I complained to them about the last dog they said they couldn't keep it off my land as they didn't want to build a fence

Holistic Select is the Eagle pack one. It was renamed Holistic Select and given its own website. They are both owned by Wellpet foods.

It might not have been silly owners. Someone else may have left a gate open, a tree could have squashed a fence etc etc. I came home here once to my gate open and my mud room door open and finger prints on my window sill. Luckily the dogs were sitting in the gate way and no one has stock around here. I put a lock on the gate which then caused problems with the electricity reader.
