My last bitch I trialled to CD level (old rules) I never really noticed when she was in season. After her CD she had pups, then a serious of accidents so never went any further. Even when she had her pups she would have done some work. Amber is currently in season. Would have to say she is working better. Did a great session today. But that might be because she is really hungry, she gets funny with food during her season, so treats had massive value today. I still train but don't take her out to club.

Obedience Trialling A Blind Dog

Don't know Staranais. I would have to ask. I guess it would depend if the judge felt the dog was out of position for the whole round. -
Good morning at training. I couldn't get in the CCD practice ring so I went in the Open one instead I haven't trained the exercises but Poppy did a pretty good job and I was very proud of her. It is interesting how you can do the exercises by training bits of them i.e. Poppy can jump and can do the dumbbell on the flat so was happy to go over the jump to get it. I thought it interesting that she just came back on the straight line too rather than ducking around the jump. Her DOR was very spiffy if I do say so myself!!! COP we got a bit of movement forwards in the sit but as I haven't been training it, I was pleased she actually sat. I didn't do the out of sight stays though as it took me about a year to get her to stay and I didn't want to push the friendship!

That bloody bloody dog! Got the second bag of the Supercoat and now she is refusing to eat it. She stayed nice and rash free too. She is eating everything else and appears to be really hungry going by her reaction to other food. She is in season again which is when the trouble all started last time. Last time she refused to eat anything for about 4 days. She really doesn't have any spare weight to lose so I don't know whether to tough it out this time or give in and feed her something she will eat.

Obedience Trialling A Blind Dog

I asked today at club and whilst different judges might judge differently it was thought that the dog touching your leg would be seen as crowding in Victoria. So I would check in Tassie before I started training that sort of position. -
Unsure What Is Wrong With My Girl.

Got any wandering jew in your garden? Hair loss around the eyes is the main thing that happens when my lot stick their heads in wandering jew! -
My first border collie, Moss, got up to flirt with a girl in a stays once. I called the vet when I got home and it was snip, snip

I played with DOR last week. Did it twice. Did a straight recall. Went to dog school. Recall - broken. COP - broken.

I noticed some at Megapet Ringwood yesterday, branded as Holistic Lamb & Rice.

Well I don't trial regularly as it takes me a while to recover When I am not being slack I do 2 formal sessions a week, often with a real judge. I then train every other night informally at home. All of these sessions are short. I've backed off the training with Poppy and have much more drive but a little less precision. I don't do anything for a couple of days prior to the trial as the nerves are too shot by that time and I would break something.

I looked at the Yogurt Plus but it had wheat and brewers yeast in it, both things that I am pretty sure Amber is allergic to.

BorderBo just wanted to say well done that you recognized it just wasn't working. I hope you find a nice companion dog to enjoy walks with

We are going to have to agree to disagree here bedazzledx2 as I know things are judged differently in different states. -

Not sure about Tassie but some judges will ping you in Victoria for the dog touching. They see it as crowding. I actually don't think this a problem with the eyesight as you often see this happen when the dogs go off lead for novice. One of the ladies in the training thread was having the same lagging problem. Going straight shouldn't be a problem if the dog really knows the heel position. For you turns try using a slightly smaller step and use your shoulders to indicate the turn. Really emphasis the body language for a while to give the dog clues as to were you are going. You will need to be a bit more subtle in the ring of course. -
It does seem a bit hard to locate. I just picked up some from Megapet Warehouse in Ringwood. I felt embarrassed buying it, I am such a snob! lol.

We talk about the best kibble being one the dog does well on. Well that was shown to me this week. I am a total kibble snob but in desperation tried Supercoat Sensitive for my itchy dog. It worked! And she eats it! As well as being itchy Amber was refusing to eat very much of anything, especially kibble. I had tried every single other kibble available. She was either refusing to eat it or getting rashes. Eagle Pack Holistic was OK but slight rash still. Someone on here mentioned a friend feeding the Supercoat which is why I tried it. I tried to find the thread that mentioned it but couldn't. But thanks to that DOLer. They get 50% raw so I guess the kibble I feed isn't super important. I would have fed her Pal if that would have worked! Canidae gave all 3 of the dogs rashes! So listen to your dog is what I wanted to say. I might feel better feeding a super premium but the dogs didn't appreciate it!!

You really need to find the ingredient/ingredients that might be causing the problem. Have you compared the ingredients of the 2 Eukanubas? See if there is one or 2 different things in the weight management and find a kibble without those in it. With grass allergies I would be making sure there was no wheat in the food I used. I found Proplan Salmon very fattening for my dogs. My itchy dog was also allergic to it. After trying every kibble under the sun I am currently using.....Supercoat Sensitive! I am horrified as I am such a kibble snob but I have a non-itchy dog that is actually eating it. A homemade elimination diet might help get their paws better quicker.

I'm sorry about your puppy Goofy. I think the breeder should offer support to the owner and help rehome a puppy if needed. I don't think the breeder should be financially responsible for any issues that occur with the puppy. I think people need to realise that stuff goes wrong with living creatures. If you are unwilling to take the chance then don't buy a pet. There are just no guarantees as to what will happen as the pup grows. To expect one is I think unreasonable. Even with inherited stuff. If the breeder has tested then they have done all they can. If the owner buys an untested animal then well their fault and suck it up.

And why is it a better collar Joe?
-
If one of the judges is around on Sunday, I'll ask them for you.

The above is what I think too. I also don't think any slip collar should be tight on the dogs neck. IMO when they are tight they are in play. In a trial ring they should be in a neutral position. Ie a chain collar should be loose enough that the 2 end round bits should be together. Not having a go either, just trying to explain.
