I am a bit of a sucker. I can't leave the little sad faces at home! They don't mind too much if I take one out. But take two out and I feel really guilty. I can walk all 3 on lead fairly easily but 3 at an off lead park is chaos!

How old is your boy bernym? If he is elderly this might be part of the problem with his coat. My old border stopped dropping her coat and it went all woolly. The texture totally changed.

I've got 3 and I tend to either take them all out or just take one out. They all seem to enjoy one-on-one mummy time. I enjoy spending that time with them too. It was to cater for my old girl that I started walking in my own paddocks. We would trundle into the middle and hang out together whilst the younger dogs ran around crazy. Everyone was happy. Interestingly since my old girl went one of my other dogs is choosing to sit with me rather than running around. That is rather cute. 4 dogs was pretty handy as you could leave 2 home and take 2 out

nicestman77, Sorry but it is not repairmen that should be working on the problem it is the manufacturer. If there is a problem with the new Wahls it it Wahl that should be fixing it. Jolly good if you can fix one that is already broken but personally I am not going to buy a product if I know it has a fault. Do you actually have any advice to give bernym? bernym if it is hurting your dog to brush him then you do need to take him to the vets IMO. What has happened with your dog's coat is why I hated clipping double coated breeds. You need to get mats out of your dogs coat before washing and drying him btw. Washing mats just seems to make them tighter.

Me too Are there any obedience ones? Me three!! I love the only six comment too!! I often say ONLY three and if I'm not around my doggy people i get some WEIRD looks that I put the ONLY in there first!! Try having 3 cats as well and seeing the look of horror! At least I don't have horses at the moment.

The OP was actually asking about clipper brands and what to buy.

Can I now admit that the only time since getting divorced that I have tried to arrange a date it went pretty much like that! I wanna see the herding one!

I sold my good clippers with my mobile van and since then have only had my cordless horse trimmers - Sheer Magic cordless clippers. Got to say that for the money they have done a super job. They trim the ponies, trim the borders, clip mats out of the Birmans and I even clipped off my old border when her coat stopped dropping out. 6 years and I have never had them sharpened. Good value I reckon.

Do You Think It Is Cruel /neglectful
JulesP replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dogs have an acre of fenced garden. It isn't just a flat lawn, it is quite interesting. I also have a lovely couple of park like acres which I take them out into every day for a run and bunny chase. They are obedience trained every day and go to obedience school twice a week. About once a month they go sheep herding. We also do the occasional walk to a river or lake. I also take them to a great local cafe. I can't walk from here as there are some scary dogs around. Guard dogs that have in the past got out. Also no footpaths means you are dodging cars. I am out in the garden pretty much every day and they seem to enjoy 'helping' me. They even think sitting with me on the veranda is pretty good. I would like to do more walks for my own fitness mainly. -
Would a blood test prove it? I really wish dog showing was the same as horse showing in regards to neuter classes.

My girl is so fussy! And she will not eat big meals either. She loves cat kibble but only Eagle Pack! Will not touch the Black Hawk cat kibble. I think I will try a heap of smaller meals with her. Her boobies are going down so hopefully she will start eating better soon. She certainly needs some weight on her. Coat, eyes and energy are all good though.

I still use mine. Still going strong after 10+ years. I have Wahls as well. I'm regretting that I parted with mine. I have worked in the clipper repair industry on and off for the last six years and can honestly say that I cannot recall any professional groomer using Oster as their primary clipper. The breeders and showies use them as they were the only brand available in the past. Wahl KM would be used by 80% of professional groomers followed by Andis AGC, and a variety of other brands such as Double K, Laube making up the rest. There never seemed to be a clear fav clipper on the US Groomers forum I used to go on :p This was over 6 years ago though so maybe things have changed.

OMG that is hilarious :p

wjhy did you regret the GSD being clipped apart from klooking funny . their coat grows back I thought it was totally unnecessary and I found that the double coated breeds that I clipped ended up with weird coats.
-
The dog clippers did the job but the horse clippers would have done the job in half the time.
-
Not a fan of clipping double coated breeds either. One of the things in my life I that I regret is letting a client bully me into clipping a GSD. Used to clip a Chow. OMG was that fun, not. Personally I would be looking at getting horse clippers if I wanted to be clipping off larger double coated breeds. So have a look in HorseLand. I've never thought much of the Mars Coat Kings but am totally in love with my Les Pooches brushes.

Sounds like a dog that needs a job to do and is supplying his own work. What is his training/walking regime? Were did you get him from?
-
I am a right good little herder I am!
-
We don't have an Erskine Park type training set up here. Maybe that is it. The training places are all privately run.
-
I am honestly quite baffled by this . The only thing I can relate to is the picnic as we usually have a nice lunch on clinic days and I have made some great friends in my herding group.

Well who are these 'amateur' persons that are chasing sheep around that you speak of?
