  1. One reason that I got the heated twin tank was because I couldn't get a plumber to come around and put the hot tap in!!! I had a booster bath initially, which I really liked, and wanted to get the outside hot tap. I was using a hose through into the laundry which was annoying, so I gave up and got the bath. I can't bath my dog in the bath inside as it is a shower/bath and I couldn't lift the dogs in through the door. Picture me holding a border collie that has planted both front feet either side of the door!!! Mine is autofill. You would just turn off the water to stop it filling. Make sure you turn off the heater too though. No water over the heater buggers it up. One reason I chose Barf was because of how polite they were and helpful. If I can an outside tap then I would have got an unheated, single tank. Or just stayed with the booster bath. The main benefits of a hydrobath are coat penetration & less stooping for the groomer. The booster bath was better for stooping though.
  2. I just lure it but make sure that I don't bring my hand too far forwards. I don't mind a bit of front feet movement when they are first learning. The walking stand mainly seems to occur when the handler moves their hand too much in the luring stage. Cute pup!
  3. Have fun Dova. No sheepies for me this weekend.
  4. How exciting! I just got one from the Barf shop after doing some research on here. I didn't have any problems with the order and have had no problems with the bath. The dogs are not impressed though!
  5. Natures Gift is about the only tinned food I would buy. I don't even like the Eagle Pack tins. Natures Gift has no preservatives or colourings and is a high meat content. All Australian produce.
  6. Damn you Leopuppy! I went but we did some stuff indoors 180s, 360s & threadle arms.
  7. Noooooooooooo But Leopuppy is probably out there freezing her bum off..... Sigh.
  8. I always feel guilty about the instructors out there in the rain. Sigh.
  9. Sitting here listening to the rain and trying to get up the oomph to go to agility training! Thinking about watching Masterchef and Desperate Housewives.... A glass of wine and the fire.... How dedicated are you? Do you turn up to class in all weather? I used to but must be getting soft!
  10. The people I know that are doing NADAC comps are loving it.
  11. I was thinking about doing some NADAC comps. They sound nice and friendly. How do people feel about these other comps compared to ANKC? Is it a waste of time going due to not getting a title? Think they do have their own titles but are these viewed as good as the ANKC titles? Not sure if that came out right! Hopefully someone will know what I mean! Looking good Kavik!
  12. Poppy grew a bit more after Kenzie's age. Think she was about 445. Now is she 455-460 but the measuring thing is supposed to be a bit dodgy. Poppy is flatter over jumps, she doesn't have Brock's nice technique.
  13. When I read stuff about what border collies are like I wonder what went wrong with mine
  14. Have fun and good luck! I didn't enter as I am not ready for started yet.
  15. I have a border collie that runs like a small dog, lol!
  16. Have a look at the Susan Salo jumping dvds. They are on Clean Run. She is a horsey lady that applied horse jumping training to dogs.
  17. Plenty of people watching at the 2 trials I have been to. Herding is a really friendly sport. Probably best not to take dogs though in case they get excited and bark at the action!
  18. Poppy is very calm - except when he is greeting people. She goes nuts! Especially for me. She squeaks, bounces, growls, has to have a 'present' (stick, rock, leaf) to give. Most of the time the paws don't land on me! When she comes in at night, she bolts to find a toy and then squeaks and growls like a nut. I like it though! She is super eager to please and is always up for a training session.
  19. Safety for the human! I've had a few combinations were the owner was in serious danger of being pulled over or dragged on to a road.
  20. I trained my youngest border collie to loose lead walk totally off lead too 4kelpies. I try and tell my puppy people to never let their puppies pull ever but I know that they do, lol. Even though I tell them not to go for long walks, I know that they are off on their walks with a bit of half hearted training and then lots of pulling! Had 2 in the last class though that did take me seriously and their little fluffies were great! People seem to be already walking their puppies before they get to obedience class. And the pups have already learnt to pull. I want my own dogs to never learn to do it in the first place. My club has now totally banned correction collars unless you get a special pass to use one. I suggest a halti if I think it is a matter of safety, ie tiny female and big, strong dog.
  21. Congrats Ness! How did you go today Piper?? I had a great day at the clinic. Am starting to get the hang of started. I did 2 runs of a course and my teacher, who is a judge, said I would have passed both. One was a bit messy though. Still feel like we are working on instinct rather than training so I will not enter a trial until I feel like we have some training happening! It is quite tricky though as Poppy doesn't bugger up often so it is hard to get the training in!
  22. That was a good brag Piper! Well done, you must be very pleased! Were are the other 2??? ummmm. I have a herding clinic tomorrow, woohooo.
  23. Stagger when you have the dogs out so that you don't have 2 pens in go at the same time.
