I think this relates to the treats from China. Stuff has been written about it on here. Dried chicken breast I think it was. -

I phoned Natures Gift too. Had a nice chat, very friendly helpful people. Their first ingredient is real meat, she said that accounted for 70% of the kibble. Then there is meal (10%). Then wheat, the wheat is there to bind the kibble together. The sucrose is there for shelf life. This is the ingredients for 'tasty beef and rice': Fresh Beef, Beef Liver, Australian Meat Meals, Whole Grain Wheat, Sucrose, Rice, Food Acid (338), Glycerine, Sea Salt, Canola Oil, Calcium, Chicory root (inulin), Flax Seed, Potassium Sorbate, Natural Colours, Natural Antioxidants (307), Beta Glucans, TGOS (oligosaccharide from corn starch), MOS (oligosaccharide from yeast), herbs, Added Vitamins & Minerals incl. Copper 10mg/kg, Vitamin A 10300iu/kg, Vitamin D 441iu/kg, Vitamin E 114iu/kg. I feed the dogs one of their kibbles this week. It got gobbled up. It would work out pretty much the same price as a premium food. Is not cheap. With your grains remember that your dog needs to have an allergy to them for them to cause problems. I think we are all going a bit nuts and as therapy we should all go and buy a bag of Pedigree Pal and feed that for a week!!! -
I've borrowed the One jump to Success dvds and am enjoying that! It is very easy to understand.

I called. I asked mainly about the cereals, which were wheat. They described the by-products as meat meal. I didn't ask about the or bit. -
I am wondering why she isn't like it at home. Or if I just take them for a walk. She is so gentle with the kittens even. I am not rapt about having a little snapping monster either!! She is 1yo. Yes is definately a bossy type behaviour. She will even tell dogs off for going near their own owners!

I am going back to raw too, well BARF but not those patties. Just deciding if I will use the Phuds as it does have alot of the supplements I would give anyway. The cats are a problem though as they are fussy little buggers!!!

At home Poppy is bottom of the pack. My old girl Fern is well and truly the boss. Brock is next but he is a soft natured dog so there is not much argy-bargy from him, he does sometimes put Poppy in her place and will push her off her food if I am not there. Last night I had Brock and Poppy out at training. I had them tethered to the same pole. Poppy was growling and snapping at Brock. We went for a walk and they were playing together off lead. On the way home in the car Poppy was growling and barking at Brock. Poppy did seem quite 'put out' that Brock was at school! I normally take them on different days. Poppy has also been 'resource guarding' me. When she does this now, I tether her away from me. Go get her and if she stops the snapping she gets to stay. Most dogs ignore her when she snaps at them. She doesn't bite btw, it is an air snap. Brock ignored her last night. Any thoughts?? She was so horrible to Brock that someone even asked if they live together!!!! At home they play all the time!

The Orijen rep on Cat World is saying that they are going to pull the dog food. She said this yesterday. They also don't seem to be 100% sure why the cats are getting sick.
-
Well I wouldn't want to eat something that had been nuked to that degree! The dog food was treated the same as the cat food. Nothing to do with hype or panic. The facts are that it was treated to very high degrees of Gamma Irradiation and I would not be happy feeding it to anyone knowing that.

If You Could Trial Any Breed....
JulesP replied to whitka's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Is this supposed to be a different breed from what we have?? Obviously I have a border collie obsession! I think a GSD! -
They are probably recalling it all because a couple of cats have got sick from eating the dog food. Knowing what has happened to the product though I don't know why anyone would even consider still feeding it to an animal.
