  1. Brock is very polite with his nose and only wanted to do gentle quick touches. Poppy was happy to keep her nose on my hand for quite a while. She isn't a real licker and just sniffed a bit. I used verbal encouragement to keep her in that position. ETA both dogs already do touching. Was just looking at extending the touch.
  2. Brock was touching other people's targets last night, which was kind-of cute!!
  3. That is not how it works at my club. The members are treated as the customers. We do have insurance. It is a good club.
  4. It does cause a few problems Cosmolo, I get frustrated sometimes but I guess I am there to teach the person not prove I can do it. We are very much a positive club so can easily demonstrate luring etc with the owner still holding the dog. I've taken my own dog into class to demonstrate or I might point out something that an advanced class is doing.
  5. Cosmolo our 'normal' instructors aren't supposed to deal with any aggression type issue, they have to be referred on to the chief instructor. We also aren't allowed to handle any dogs. To do that there is another course that has to be done. And yes extra training for agility & flyball. Quite a few of the instructor also have other qualifications, delta etc.
  6. A topic on the Puppy forum has got me thinking about qualifications of instructors at various obedience clubs. What do you think the qualifications should be? Do you check before you join a club? Are you going to learn or more for the socialisation aspect? What does your club do about training instructors? Croydon does a fairly long course. It was about 42 hours of written/practical type training, plus weekly homework and a open book exam. Followed by about 16 hours of out on the field mentoring type stuff. The course covered dog behaviour, training techniques and teaching techniques.
  7. And some obedience clubs make their instructors do quite long courses!
  8. Kinta sort of looks like a BC.............. (Jules runs away very fast....)
  9. OMG DD you are so lucky the pups are ok! Very scary. I've got a pretty full on May with foal shows. Sat 24th & 31st look ok at this stage. Would like to do something on Anzac day if you are around LP?? I hate having training cancelled because of long weekends!
  10. You want to meet me???? Oh that is nice :kissbetter:
  11. He is quite young too. We aren't allowed to do agility at my club until the dogs are over 18 months. Especially jumping stuff. Look on the bright side - I couldn't get my first border to jump at all! He was way too smart! Why go over the jump if you can go under!!!
  12. Now LP I need help with weavers!!! I wanted you to show me the methods that you wrote about on here!! I have a nasty feeling I will be doing them next and Brock HATES weavers! Big sook of a dog!
  13. Hey that is what a training session is for! to train and learn stuff! I'll be bringing my 6 month old pup and my 2yo who has been doing agility for a couple of months and can't remember how to even heel!!
  14. We sort of go through everyone and work on whatever it is that they need to work on. Everyone helps each other.
  15. The agilty stuff will probably be set up in front of the club rooms. When you enter the carpark, the club rooms are to the left. If you swing to the right I reckon we will be able to find room there. The rings are usually in that part of the ground at trials (still there LP??). I'll still be there at 2.00pm then.
  16. Sounds more like it is a low suds type shampoo, designed to go in a hydrobath?? I've used the Eco 2000 shampoo a bit, that is quite nice once you get used to the lack of suds.
  17. Dunno but I have no info about it and am currently doing agility at Croydon so am not very impressed.
  18. What is the seminar Leopuppy?? The ground is massive btw for people that don't know Croydon.
  19. I am asking for a dry shampoo because I really don't want to get up at 7.00am on a Sunday morning to wash my dog. And I haven't used one before so can hardly be unhappy with them. My dirt does not brush out because I am on red soil.
  20. Can anyone recommend a dry shampoo??? Needs to be heavy duty! My puppy insists on getting filthy every week just before dog school, is driving me nuts!
  21. Hey Shoey, you can meet my new baby!! I may even wash the dogs!!
