  1. I live on red dirt. I tend to have black & pink border collies (some people think it is their natural colour ). I recently got some E-Z Groom whitening shampoo from Pets Network (advertise on here). It did a really good job. I have tried most of the other products mentioned on here and they haven't worked on the red dirt stains.
  2. I do feel for you as my ex-husband would have gone nuts about the dog barking all night.
  3. When I fed Barf I also fed brewers yeast & kelp. It is also ok to feed a meal of table scraps. Also oats. umm and cottage cheese. The basis was always raw meaty bones but you could feed lots of other stuff as well. So veggies are not the only difference. Not sure were a dog in the wild would get yogurt though?
  4. Hi, I live in Wandin! I have done a bit of agility at K9 in Lilydale. They are a friendly school, good for pet owners. A bit pricey compared to some of the others. Lots of different classes, tricks, doggy dancing etc. Is inside which is handy. They are run by the Coldstream Animal Aid so I don't mind handing the cash over. I've got a flyer here for Upper Yarra Dog Training. Don't know anything about them or if they are still going. I keep meaning to call. 5964 4756. They might train in Seville. I go to Croydon DC.
  5. Mine are all on the floor too. I go and sit on the floor for cuddles. Baby puppy did get some couch snuggles though!
  6. What happens in the wild is not always best though! Not sure I want my dogs to look like a skanky wild dog. I imagine most wolfies would be happy to chow down on some veggies if offered. lol. Just try to avoid feeding stuff that is bad for them. Like preservatives, artifical colours etc. And let what your dog looks like be the judge of how you feed.

The thing on Its Me or the Dog was more about dogs that bark at things outside. When they are quiet you give them a treat. I wouldn't advise it for this situation as it is an attention getting thing. Like if they cry whilst in their crates. Get some ear plugs and ignore her!

My new pup was the same! She stopped yelling after a couple of trips but she is now throwing up! I tend to let my dogs sort things out for themselves but I know that the bigger dogs are not going to cause any serious damage to puppy. So I guess you need to work out if your older dog is likely to hurt the puppy first.
  9. It is also a very good idea to train puppy to go on to a bed/rug. It is very handy to be able to pop a rug down in a strange place and ask doggie to go on to their bed and stay there. It is one of the first things I teach my pups so I don't have to chase them around the house worrying what mischief they are getting into. So I don't think it is a good idea to teach pup not to go on this rug as it is going to be hard for her to work out the differences in rugs.
  10. My club does it a bit differently. First you do a 4 week prep class which involves teaching some contact stuff, getting the dog to work on your right side, backing up etc. Then you go on to the obstacles, you do half an hour on one obstacle and then half an hour on another obstacle. You do that for 3 weeks and are then tested on the 4th week, then on to another 2 obstacles. After passing all the obstacles you go on to sequencing. They are very big on the contacts, probably putting too much emphasis on that and prefer the 2 on 2 off. I have to say it is very boring! And is too much of a one way only sort of training, rather than looking at the individual dog. Whether in the end this method produces great dogs, I don't know.
  11. Jessca the Eagle Pack works out pretty good value on a daily basis as you don't need to feed as much of it. Lysterfield Produce should sell it as their brother sells it at the Wandin store.
  12. My advice is to get the books or do the research on the net. And then make up your own mind which diet to follow.
  13. Interestingly my pup had better poos on the EP Puppy than on the EP Holistic Chicken! None of the dogs seem very excited about th EP Hol Chicken.
  14. It you are concerned about the approaching doggies then this will certainly transfer down to your doggie. Maybe that is all that is going wrong now. Try singing as a dog approaches. I'm with Dogdude though, I stay away from dog parks. Joanne Righetti is a behaviourist who is in Sydney. http://www.petproblemsolved.com.au/. I work with her hubby.
  15. Eco 2000 has very low suds, well it doesn't suds up at all. That one is good for washing out. You get it from horse shops. Very good for sensitive skin too.
  16. How it was explained to me was that with the old kennel cough injection you had to give that twice at 12 & 16 weeks but with the kennel cough up the nose you only need it at 12 weeks so don't need the shots at 16 weeks. But heck everyone is saying different stuff!!!
  17. 4 Legs does not contain preservatives or artificial colourings. It is however a cooked product. Ecopet rolls also do not contain preservatives but again are cooked. I am a bit suss on their mince. Both the above are quite good products IMO. I don't have a problem including them as part of my pets diet. The dogs certainly love them and I have had no issues with poos etc.
  18. A tip with running away - try not to fall over. I did this in class in front of a stack of people. I was sooooooo embarrassed.
  19. Were on her body is she scratching? That is the first step in working out what the problem is.
  20. If I am in a situation were I don't think there is a hope in hell of the dog coming then I don't use the come command. It just weakens the command. Like at bath times . I will either go get them or will do something like run away. If they are about to get into danger and are not coming then I would do the running away thing. Have borders though so this appeals to their nature.

    Poop Question

The puppies were quite sick. Very similar to parvo but without the yucky smell. The blood in the poo is a bit of a worry.

    Poop Question

There is a virus going around. It looks similar to parvo. Not sure if it is in Sydney but 2 of the doggies that got it did come from Sydney. Don't know if they caught it in Sydney or in QLD.
  23. Why don't you treat him as if he does have IBS and see if he improves. If he is a bit grumpy on the non eating days then it does sound like he is in pain on those days.

    Poop Question

Marble what state are you in?
  25. Oh dear. It does sound like you have an allergy to doggies. I get the flea bite looking lumps. You could try antihistamines or look at getting a course of injections from an allergy place.
