Sounds like a slack arse method of teaching their dogs to heel!!! Rather sneaky!

K9 Force was using the orbee balls on a rope at the Melbourne clinic. You could look at those.

Seven Months Old And Still Destroying Everything!
JulesP replied to IncrediJack's topic in Puppy Chat
I reckon they are worse at this age!!! As other people have said just remove anything that you don't want destroyed. Here is what I came home to the other day. Courtesy of my 7 month border collie! The 2 older dogs in the pic are looking horrified! Some one called it 'slash & destroy' which I thought was spot on!! Same day she chewed the door frame in the kitchen! -

Bugger, that is a shame. Hugs to you. -
Croydon is a postive/food luring club. Using a marker word rather than a clicker. Clickers can be a bit tricky in a class situation. Not sure if Croydon is easier to get to than KCC park for you. You go through Puppy class for 8 weeks, Basic 1 for 12 weeks and Basic 2 for 12 weeks. You can then go into the intermediate class, which trains trialling stuff. There is a ring set up for run throughs. Training is on a Sunday morning.

End Behaviour For A-frame
JulesP replied to DeltaCharlie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My club insists on 2o2o with nose touching so that is what I do. Brock is super careful so I really didn't need to do it with him. I taught the nose touching first and then moved on to a flat board and then moved to sloped one. If I do nose touching without a board Brock will sometimes drop to touch. I don't use a target now but did in the beginning. -

If it is a couple of joints then maybe it is growing pains or OCD. This link explains it quite well http://www.labbies.com/dysplasa.htm Hope he is ok Cosmolo. -
The thing that has helped my old girl the most is a coat. Has had a more positive effect then even anti-inflam drugs.

Herding_Guy is at Four Paws

Four Paws k9 training at Diggers Rest do courses. And there is a guy in Port Welshpool that also does sheep herding. There are also herding things run at KCC park.
-
Maybe you mean the city slicker herding days?? This is were you get to learn to herd up sheepies with pet dogs. What state are you in so someone can point you in the right direction?
-
YEAH!!! I am so pleased for you!

Young Poppy had her first run through in a ring today. I was very pleased with her. No gawking around etc. She had already done her obedience class prior so I was also impressed with how she wants to keep working. Now mum has to work on her own feet

What To Do When They Disobey A Command?
JulesP replied to 4 Paws's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yep you did too many. However I would probably gone and got her and would have done a recall on lead to finish. Just to establish that the dog must come when I call. Very easy to teach a dog that it doesn't have to. As with others I teach the front bit separately from the recall. Usually by walking forwards and then me running backwards and calling the dog. You can guide the dog into the right place pretty easily and dogs seem to think this is quite a fun thing to do. -

 -
I train mine out the front of my house. The dogs that aren't being trained are behind a farm gate, so can see what is going on. I don't have any issues. Well it is fun getting the right dog out! And my old girl barks if I use a toy. But the training isn't a problem. I have more problems with the bloody cat coming and joining in!! Just do what ever suits you and the doggies will get used to it. Work a bit harder to keep focus on you. Working under these distractions everyday does produce good focus! I have cats jumping on the dogs doing stays even!

That is funny DD! When I had a lesson with Leopuppy the other week I had a man come over and take pics! I was at home for that so no one to watch but one of the cats was being very annoying on the first go!! She is getting big, I have to really look now to see which border it is. -

Agility Instructor Training
JulesP replied to kelpiechick's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
1. Yes it does. You do the obedience training and then extra training for agility. 2. Ummm don't know 3. The rules! Different methods. Problem solving skills. -

Went well thanks Shoey. They all turned up in the rain and had been working hard. A couple of the labs could certainly do with some of the drive training, so I was a tad frustrated. lol. -
