Yeah I tried to give signals with my left hand the other day and couldn't. The only one that feels ok is the forward signal. I have been doing it like this for over 15 years so not surprising it feels weird though.
-
I hold the lead in my left hand and do all my signals with my right hand. I asked because I heard someone say you NEVER hold the lead with your left hand.
-
You could try the performance one.

Mega pet warehouse in Ringwood had this in stock for anyone interested.

Which Proplan are you feeding Luke? I found the Salmon one was good for weight gain (and stunning coats).
-
When you are doing your heeling what hand do you hold your lead in? And what hand do you use to give your signals?

Last night she weed in the house within half an hour of being inside. But then stayed in the house for a further 5 hours without needing to go or other accidents. She makes no attempt to tell me she needs to go.

Litter Temperament Testing
JulesP replied to Staff'n'Toller's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Last pup I got I took my test stuff with me....and then totally forgot about it as I was too busy being clucky!! My little girl picked me anyhow, she bolted heaps in front of the other pups to get to me and dropped at my feet. Was a crack up. Lucky the breeder picked that pup for me or there might have been tears! -
I took her up to the grass last night and tried to get her to wee. She just looked really confused. She then went within an hour of being in the house. I don't think it is incontinence as she doesn't wee were she is sleeping, she does get up and goes into the kitchen to wee.

I hate going to the vet when they are old! Never know if they will be coming back with you or not. Last time I took her I ended up bawling my eyes out as I thought she was at the end of the line then. Yes I know you have to do it when you have got pets but it is so hard. This is my 'heart' dog too.

My old border collie girl has started to wee in the house. The dogs come in after dinner for the evening. She often wees after only being in for a short time. And they are big wees! She appears to be drinking more and I am currently monitoring that. Could obviously be a number of things, cushings, kidneys, diabetes, old age... Has anyone one else had an old dog that started to wee in the house? She is almost totally deaf and appears a bit 'dotty'. Is eating normally. Has problems with both back legs due to injury and has arthritis in the spine. I'm not saying a word about the weeing but all the dogs get so upset when I am cleaning it up. ;) It is all very distressing.

The dog's behaviour may be totally unrelated to their owners separation. It may be that they have never had the opportunity before to kill anything. It may also be more related to a change in their environment. A behaviourist is obviously the way to go but she might not be able to afford this due to the split. The last thing she needs btw is a work colleague telling her to toughen up. You don't know what she is like with the dogs or why they are acting like this. I really feel for her having to deal with the dogs behaving badly on top of everything else. Until she can see someone about their behaviour I would suggest that they are muzzled in public. Would hate to see them get away from her and kill another pet.

Rise To The Challenge Or Not?
JulesP replied to ruthless's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
If you do no training during the week then you really can't expect the dog to improve. -
Some good points DD. Thanks!

Went into our trial ring today for a practice. Poppy was going well until the figure of 8. I got all nervous because another person came into the ring and even ended up tripping over her at one stage . I was really bad when I trialled my last dog and didn't get much practice because she passed all her trials before I had to retire her due to injury. Even test day at dog school makes me feel sick!! Lucky Poppy is a fairly settled dog and doesn't totally loose the plot when I am being an idiot. She did her other exercises nicely :D So what to do about me? (be nice!). I get so freaked out I can't even walk properly. And this is just in a practice. Help!

Interesting. Mu dogs do better on the normal Pro Plan than on Eaglepack. Were did you get it from CS?

How quick does the water heat up ellz? I have a booster bath, which I love but am having trouble getting a plumber to put the outside taps in. Might just give up and get a hydrobath.

Looking For New Agility Club In Victoria
JulesP replied to Kowai's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I've got the arena but it isn't covered. Is river sand but has grass grown over it now so it is quite a good surface. Sand is less slippery than bark chip. -

What about using private land? -
I got a jump today and put it at the end of the weavers and had a much happier dog . He loves jumping! It was his obvious love of this that made me do agility with him in the frst place. He is still not fast like a 'normal' border but at least he was looking happier. I am sure one of the problems is that he doesn't want to touch the poles. He is quite long, so is really having to bend to get around the poles without touching them. Any ideas with that??
-
Ta. I started with the 2x2 and am now at channel stage I guess.
-
What is the difference between channel and 2x2?
-
Brock actually starts off ok and then fades off. I have the first and last poles further apart (width wise) to define the entry and exits. I've moved to 12 poles as he was ducking out of the poles at school whe he got to the sixth pole. He is still wanting to go out to train so that is a good thing. Didn't even want to wait his turn this morning!

Mine are individual dodads. So could do a channel or V with them or the 2x2. Pretty handy except having to measure the distances.
